THISNIGHTCLUBISCLOSEDSOME1SHOULDDEFINITELYMAKE A NOTEOFTHIS. Place sealed it’s fate pretty much from the start, they said they were trying to make a new home for the Pacha crowd and that pretty much calls for trouble. The doormen haphazardly let anyone in, patrons still charged even if on a GuestList, crowded dance floor the list of problems goes on and on. The only thing that made this place attractive at all was the state of the art sound system. Also a guy was stabbed inside D36 and died shortly after(you can check Eater NY for more or this link: ) YEAHEVENIFTHISPLACEWASSTILLOPEN I WOULDNEVEREVERSETFOOTINTOIT, because clearly the security can’t keep you safe.

I was very disappointed that they didn’t let me use my free drink ticket for the event being held. They said that it was for«a party before», ugh excuse me, look around, its all Asians. This is still the party! However I did like the music here.

KEEPYOURRECEIPT and check your credit card statement the next day. They charged my credit card on two separate occasions totaling $ 250. The drink charges are ridiculous but I did not buy $ 250 worth of drinks, the bill I signed was no where near that! The only reason why I gave it a one star was because the DJ rocked.

BEAWARE!!! This is the WORST place to go to. EVER!!! NOTHONEST!!! If I could, i’ll give it –5 stars. I’ve never have any experience worst than this in NY. ok, they have minimum $ 50 for credit card, so I had to purchase 2 more drinks with 1 bottle of water to meet the minimum. and then, even my friends are already paying for the entrée fee with the stamp on the hand, just because they drove our sick friend home, one of the long hair black guard who’s a completely jerk just simply refuse to let them in again. I was already very furious at the bar, and the bartender told me she’s sorry twice. today, I found out they’re charging me $ 100 for 3 drinks + 1 bottle of water. This place is DISHONEST and do not have any DECENCY. AVOID here at ANYCOSTS!!!

Is this the new Hiro? It seems almost everyone who comes here is Asian. Obviously I blended right in, aside from my significantly longer dress hem length. Pretty big space. There are three levels for dancing, but the hip hop floor in the basement is horrible! So back upstairs we went. They played pretty good house music that was easy to dance to, and staff members were giving out free glow sticks and light-up sticks in exchange for personal email addresses. We came on a Friday night, and it was open bar until 11pm. They made us wait outside for 20 minutes, even though there was hardly anyone inside when we got in. Guess we can’t complain when it’s a free open bar. Strong drinks, too. All in all, not a bad first impression.

Wow, I must say that this is one of the worst experiences I have ever had.(I’m born and raised in NY, turning 27 this year.) This review might get a little long so if you want the quick and dirty — DON’T GO. DONOTGO — it’s a very dishonest organization. If you have the time, take a look at the review below: First let me start off by telling you that I had a bottle reservation for the club. I get there and they give a super difficult time for only buying one bottle and that if I want to look«cool» in front of my girlfriend and her friends I should buy more bottles. I happily tell him that I can take my money and go to another establishment. He says no that’s not necessary.(We started off on the wrong foot already at the door.) We get into the club and we’re seated. We order a bottle of vodka and a fruit platter. Probably in 20 mins, we get the bottle but not the fruit platter. A little annoyed at the service, I go out to have a cigarette. When I go outside, the waiter tells my girlfriend and her friends that if we don’t buy another bottle, we have to leave the club. He tells her this even before I get my credit card and ID back for the first bottle. How can we be kicked out for not buying more bottles when I haven’t even gotten my credit card back? They were kicked out of the club even before I got back to the table from my cigarette… But hey, everyone is trying to make money right? That’s all the matters at the end of the day right? Who cares about customer retention or service? That’s fine, I can take what happen so far and brush it off. But of course, that’s not the end of the night… When I go to sign my bill, I’m overcharged. The waiter tells me that they don’t know how to reverse the charge… I mean seriously? I argue with the«manager» and they reverse the charge. I’m initially charged 420 and the bill was supposed to be 360(for the bottle and the fruit platter, which I didn’t get.) I even received a receipt that says the bill was 360… I get home to see my credit card statement and it’s charged for 420… I have to wait for the transaction to settle to dispute it but I will definitely be disputing this charge. Not only for the extra 60 dollars but for being charged for an item/service I didn’t receive. IFYOUHAVETOGOTOTHISESTABLISHMENT — PAYCASH. Seriously, you don’t even want to deal with the headache. They’re a bunch of scam artists! I’m seriously shocked that the city allows a place to run like this. I will report this incident to every nyc bureau possible. ______________________________ My card charge finally settled and it was at 360 — but I’m still being overcharged for items/service that I didn’t receive…

When I came for a free event, the line wasn’t much of a wait and the drinks were free(that probably changes a lot of views toward this place). I did notice that there were WAY too many stairs everywhere-that could lead to lots of drink spills and tripping! The bathrooms were super cramped, you could barely sit down… poor design on that part(only the top bathrooms though, the 2nd floor ones were ok) Other than that, the dance floor is a bit small, there’s a couple bars upstairs and downstairs, and if you’re a baller and a creeper, you can get a table upstairs and watch people dance below you. When I came for the club, the wait wasn’t too long when we got there early-maybe about 15 minutes. The promoters were nice too, although your night will depend on who’s hosting it. I loved the trance music and how everyone was just having fun dancin’ it up. I’d come back here, and it is an easy location to get to!

District 36 is small as far as super clubs go. It is more reminiscent of a smaller version of terminal 5. Large amount of white powerey substances sould be found on the toilet paper dispense and on the floor, circa Miami 1985. The sound system was epic and the DJ line ups are impressive. The downside is the bartenders are arrogant meat heads with bad attitudes, the bar itself was also filthy with puddles of fluid covering the top to the point you are unable to touch anything. Also there is a $ 50 minimum on all Credit or debit card transaction; outrageous if you ask me. The bartenders did point me in the direction of an ATM with an exorbitant fee attached, no doubt adding to the coffers of D36 itself. The drinks were awful to say the least. Go for the DJ and sound system, avoid the bar.

I went to district 36 for Jonathan Peters, one of my favorite djs a couple of months back. There is a cover charge i think it was $ 20 or $ 25 and the drinks are expensive. The music was sick, they had a great dancefloor and a big discoball but the crowd seemed very young. There were a bunch of jersey-shore looking teenagers dancing with no shirt on. I felt kind of like i was at a rave. Upstairs is a bit classier and you get a good view of the dj booth and i think the older crowd tends to hang out upstairs. It wasnt too hard to grab a corner spot with a group of friends which i liked. The club wasnt packed either, there was room to breathe. I would def go back for a good dj.

I hate places that make you wait in line just for the sake of making you wait in line. I came for a friend’s DJ event and wish I stayed home instead! After waiting in line for like 15 minutes, I get inside and the place is ABSOLUTELY empty. WTFreak. Stop trying to make the club look exclusive when there’s legit only 50 people inside. At least I didn’t have to pay cover because I was on my friend’s list, or else I would have been even more po’ed. They also seem to let everyone in too(after making you wait in a fake line). There were some really weirdly dressed people here — a guy in a full on spandex body suit? Check. 15 year old half naked girls? Double check. Def removing everything I saw at District 36 from my memory. Men In Black neural neutralizer please.

New York is crazy, and I was looking for a fun and crazy time. I suggest you buy your tickets before, makes things easier. We got here really late and almost didn’t make it for last call. Getting in was crazy!!! We thought we had a hook up, and that didn’t go very well, so we decided to pay. Talk about getting your drink on!!! Anyways needless to say I went with my friend Andrew, whom I had just met the night before at the airport, and his friend Rob. We had a blast, and danced our butts off. We got out moneys worth. But that’s not where we ended. We walked up a few blocks, and hit this crazy after hours. Didn’t leave till about 11am. Love NY!!! If you’re looking to go all night, and dance, go to District 36, I am from LA and have visited Miami, Rio and New York several times. Fun times at district!!!

I was hopeful when this place opened. A booming sound system. I enjoyed Ben Klock and Alexi Delano for New Year’s. Unfortunately my subsequent experiences has been all down hill. The venue attracts a hostile douchey crowd. Lots of guidos who like to jump around wasted thinking they are in Ibizia. Girls spilling their waters all over the place. Glow sticks. And the security constantly bumps into patrons. Heck, if Pascha didn’t have toothless meth heads tweeting whistles, I’d argue Pascha was better. I knew I would never to return to District 36 when I went to see Digweed and left early. Digweed is a legend. And some how, he sucked at District 36. Hard to believe.

Having been a regular at most of the House Music meccas(think Centro Fly, Crobar, Vinyl/Arc, Spirit, Twilo, Pacha, Avalon) I feel VERY well qualified to proclaim this the best sound system of them all. This place rocks it. The night I went by no means was packed, but as my friends had prefaced before we went in, the sound system is SOLID. Unlike the more Jersey, Bridge and Tunnel crowds that are common in places like Pacha this place has more of a true new York flavor, and my friend’s have confirmed that in general a better crowd hangs out here. I love the upstairs layout, with nice quality booths for bottle service. Reminds me of upstairs at Spirit which was always fun. The mixed drinks are for sure on the spendy side here. Tabs get up to the $ 100 mark quick. But hey, you pay for quality right? Welcome to New York.

I came here to see Dubfire with Carlo Lio a few weeks ago. And although the soundsystem was incredible and the female dancers on fire, I don’t think I will be back here. For one, this place really makes you pay and if you aren’t in finance and are used to dropping Benjamins left and right, this is not a place for you. The entrance fee was $ 40. What a fucking rip off. We had a few drinks and I remember 2 drinks costing $ 36. Really? Damn I would be so nice and toasty in good ol’ Brooklyn for that amount of money. And the crowd not my scene. I am not into B&T. But despite that, I still managed to spot out some cuties… I guess after you have your drinking goggles on, everything looks good. I just wished I had my experience here when John Digweed was playing…

This was touted as the future club of underground house & techno nights, however has come up way short. If you’re a fist-pumping guido that frequents Pacha, you now have a second option as well. Their Gary Stewart sound system is their claim to fame, and while it’s top notch, the elevated DJ booth, generic staff, security sweeping the floors every five minutes, forced coat check, velvet rope fake line outside, and movie theatre-like interior make for a very cold and boring experience.

Ugh, I can’t really say anything positive about this place except that it was pretty easy to get in after the pomp and circumstance about being on the list. I was groped two times by Jersey Shore wannabes. This venue was a complete sausage fest. The sound system is not stellar, and the bass left all of us grabbing our chests, hoping that our hearts were still in place. $ 50 minimum on cards — not uncommon but still annoying. The strobe lights were out of control. The light projections, otherwise, were ok but nothing special. This venue was highly, highly disappointing.

To be honest, when I read through many of the previous reviews I saw complaints about bouncers and some complains about drinks and service… one person even said the place was a «dump» and the bathrooms were small and dirty. I don’t think that person actually went to the same club I went to, because the bathrooms are all handicap accessible, meaning they are BIG enough for a person in a wheelchair to move around, and the venue is brand new! Its clean, and each bathroom had at least two attendants at all times. Anyway, aside from what the whiners say here, the place was pretty cool. The size was nice, as in not too big(and looking empty), and not too small leaving it possible for people to move around and dance. Love the balcony and the lighting scheme throughout the club. The sound system can’t be beat… and yes people, it’s a DANCECLUB there is going to be a lot of BASS! Overall the system sounded clean, crisp and is very well built. I wasn’t able to see the downstairs, but the artwork they had included in the décor was simply perfect! The bartenders are hit or miss. I think its all in the approach. The first time I was there, the bartenders were cool, relaxed and even bought me a drink. The second time, the guy who served me was a bit of a muscle-head but after razzing him a little for not remembering my name(after I’d gone up TOO many times), he did make an effort to remember and was pretty cool otherwise(besides, he had my CC!). Security was to be expected… honestly. If you’re a thug, a pretentious princess, a drug addict, or an a**hole, the security guards probably won’t enjoy your being there. On the other hand, if you’re patient and simply let them do what they have to do, then its pretty much the same as any other club. Yes, security always has an attitude, and usually doesn’t care about your birthday party, or how cool you think you are. This is one of the MAIN reasons I like the place! I’ve been frisked at just about every club I’ve ever been to, and that is never going to change. I was more happy at the fact that they didn’t have some loser out front with a celebrity complex judging the shoes everyone was wearing. Also, being a guy and being able to go into a place without having to bring 16 girls with me was a refreshing experience. In general about security: this place would like to stay open, which means they can’t let douchebags in with their pill bottles and little powdery baggies, nor can the let in those looking for a problem or looking to grope every girl who walks through the door. And finally, the club’s management still seems like they are figuring things out, but they appear to be going in the right direction. With Victor Calderone holding his monthly«Evolve» party there, Sleepy & Boo hosting many events, along with some of the biggest artists in the business playing on a regular basis, this place isn’t going anywhere. I’ll be going over, and over again.

You know more and more I realize Unilocal really does have the universal review rating. Look at this place, Unilocal comes up with 2.5 stars. I would even argue that was generous. Sure I would go here to see the right music, like Claude Vonstroke playing live in nyc. You know it could be anywhere and you’d go. but this venue really is crap. I mean sure they are mid-priced range, a lot less than Pacha. Space is good etc… $ 20 to get to see this awesome DJ. But I wish he had gone to Sullivan, Santos or Cielo instead. The cool factor is so low i don’t know where to go from here. I mean people… wtf! What’s more the bouncers are really like pol-ice all over the place. Very intense, very we-don’t-realize-it-but-we’re-messing-with-your-nite vibe. Good things? Oh did I not mention the sound system? It’s OFF-THE-HOOK, that’s good if you weren’t reading closely. The sound system is phenomenal! Well the other thing that is really crappy about this place is the drinks. There are no reasonable options. Beer $ 8, drinks $ 12. Ummm… I want to be here for many hours people, these prices are just not going to work. There are no 22oz $ 10 sapporo options like at Cielo. I’m glad I got to see the dirtybird crew, but if D36 club owners are reading this, I would recommend A. some cheap drink options, B. some friendly bedside manner training for the bouncers and C. a major style upgrade.
