I was looking for a place to lunch after making a stop at Kalustyan. Inspired by the spices shopping, and being in Little India, I decided to have indian food. A quick check on Unilocal brought me to this place. Good reviews and a line-up at 1pm told me it was worth to check out. I took two kathi rolls, the aloo & paneer tikka, and a chicken tikka. Both were great, fresh tasting, with just the right amount of spice. I was tempted to take a 3rd one. Yes, the rolls are on the small side, but at this price level, in NYC, I find it was a very good deal. This will become a regular spot for me when I visit the area. There’s a small sitting area in the basement, not the most enjoyable place, but comfortable enough if its not nice enough to eat outside. I highly recommend this place!

This has become one of my regular stops in NYC. I absolutely love how cheap and delicious the food is here! The highlights for me are the samosa chaat and any of the lamb kati rolls. Huge portions and amazing flavor! I’ve also had the paneer tikka masala, which is pretty solid and comes with a lot, although it a bit too creamy for me. But, would definitely order it again. Highly recommend this place and I will continue to keep coming!

Where to start with this place. It lured us in with all the timeOut reviews pasted in the window. The menu looked appetising. We ordered: Shev Puri Aloo Paneer Kati Roll vegetable biryani All three of these items were insulting in their preparation and quality. While presentation was decent, there was zero passion in the dishes. The Puris were stale and/or old while the mix was lacking in any real masala flavour. We came around 3:30pm and were starving. The only reason we finished the shev Puri was because of this. The Kati roll was just dry and overly sweet with the potato mix. The paratha was sub-par. If you want to compare, go to Greenwich Village at Masala Times for a far superior and freshly made roll. The chutney was the one thing that made it edible but that wasn’t saying much. By the time we finished the first two items, I was praying that the biryani would be the saving grace of the joint. What was presented was a sad presentation of old overcooked broken rice which was comprised of frozen vegetable. The raita had a slightly carbonated buzz to it which is not normal. After 5 – 6 bites we just threw it away and walked out. The best thing we had was a can of Thumbs Up soda. Do yourself a favor and watch how the food is prepared before you order. It’s not fresh food. Indian street food should be fresh.

I am not sure how this place has so many good reviews. I went in on a Saturday evening and the place was empty. We ordered pani pure, sev puri and lamb kathi roll. The pani puri and sev puri was definitely not fresh, I could easily tell that. The kathi roll was one of the worst I have ever had. It was not fresh as well and the roll was undercooked. There are better places around for rolls. I would recommend trying other places around and not wasting your time here.
