The food was fresh and prepared quickly. My first time ordering fast food Thai. Not bad

I am sick to my stomach from just looking at this food. Made the mistake of not looking at the food before bringing it home — the chicken in the chicken salad was rock hard, probably cooked in the morning and probably kept under a heating lamp for hours before it was served to us in the evening. So disgusting. The tomatoes were wilted and old. Came here hoping for a fresh and healthy meal, as advertised. Definitely not what we got. And it wasn’t cheap either. Pad thai was also lacking, basically just noodles and peanuts — barely any bean sprouts or chicken. Horrible expeirence, will never return.

Average food. I ordered the grilled chicken. Which was just like plain grilled chicken except for the sauce hat comes with it, which was good.

It’s around the corner from work. It’s relatively cheap. It’s not the greatest, but hey, it’s cheap thai food. I’ll take it. It’s sad that thai food of better quality in Thailand(naturally) is significantly cheaper than what we are forced to eat here(okay, no one put a gun to my head so I’ll stop complaining but that is the nature of reviewing, isn’t it? No? Okay) but it wasn’t terrible. So yes, if I have to choose between McDonalds and Dee Daa for lunch(because I’m too lazy to pack my own and review myself), I’ll go to Dee Daa’s.

Nice concept, poor execution. I love Thai food and if it was made fast and convenient for the customer what is there not to like? But the food is not fresh and felt sloppy. Like the reviews below, nice décor and menus but not so nice food.

We were in working on the road(in sales) and ducked in here for a quick and easy lunch. The décor was great, minimal, clean and simple. Number 1: Obie, Barika, and Taneesha were incredibly friendly. Their smiles were off the charts and they all gave great advice on what to order and what was popular and tasty. Number 2: Chef Levi, thank you, our lunch of Pad Thai and the Grilled Chicken Salad were perfect and totally hit the spot. Number 3: Did I say Obie, Barika, Taneesha and Levi made my day? Well they did and whoever owns this place is damn lucky to have them. I was sincerely touched… I flew back to Chicago that night and did not forget about them. I never do Unilocal(maybe once years ago?) but I would never have not written in about my lunch at Dee Daa last month, I was that impressed with that young and excellent team.

Thai grilled chicken is pretty much the best thing here. Pad see ew is also good. The vegetable/meat to carb ratio is too low. I don’t really drink the teas and would not get the sides here, because they are really not very attractive. Lunch order: thai grilled chicken. $ 10

Dee Daa was recommended by one of our colleagues when we decided to get some Thai food. It was not far from the office so we decided to head over there for a very quick bite to eat. When you follow others without looking up the restaurant on Unilocal, expect to be let down from time to time. That’s exactly what happened when we arrived at Dee Daa. From the outside it looked like a fast food, grab and go kind of place. In fact several of us were a little on the fence about eating here due to lack of space(there were at least 5 of us). We had to hover in this hole in the wall joint for a spot to sit down. It wasn’t even busy! I guess hunger got the best of us when we decided to order up. I ordered the pad thai combo which included a Thai iced tea and a lemongrass soup. The pad thai was mediocre at best. I wasn’t expecting much to begin with and was slightly let down by the lack of authenticity in the dish. The soup was absolutely horrible. It was nothing like lemongrass. I tried to salvage the soup of adding hot sauce but it was overall extremely sour and terrible tasting. DONOT order any of their soups included in the combo. Your taste buds will thank you. This was not feel good Thai. I am just not impressed with the food at all. I’ve had bad Thai food and Dee Daa is bad. I am kicking myself for not thoroughly researching on Unilocal(again).

I was lured into Dee Daa from the street without checking Unilocal first. I was impressed by the minimalist design and cleanliness. This place had hardly any customers. After reading the Unilocal reviews, I think people are being way too harsh. The menu is very simple and easy to digest — color coded into separate categories: curry, noodles, rice, stir fry, etc. I had the green curry with shrimp — spicy. Why the hell are people complaining that its too damn spicy if they order spicy?! I like spicy and it didn’t overpower the other subtle flavors of basil, lime, etc. The portion was not huge, but it filled me up. There are no little extras, like a salad or appetizer that I could get at a less trendy Thai spot, and for a much lower price point. I can see that being reasonable criticism of the place. In NYC, you really have to up the ante in the restaurant business. This place might do well in suburbia, but in NYC its a different arena. One last point: Why would people complain that this place is too clean?! Go eat at McDonald’s with all the junkies and derelicts then you can complain. I like the cleanliness and clear view of the kitchen where the employees were dressed professionally in white uniforms. I hope the owners take this feedback to heart and improve this small business.

Wow, wish I read the reviews before walking in. Decent interior, the prices seemed reasonable and there were a few things on the menu that looked good. I ordered the grilled chicken salad: «kale, red and green cabbage, mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers. topped with sprouts, pumpkin seeds and scallions» What came(see attached photo): A pile of cabbage with a few tiny pieces of kale mixed in. No cherry tomatoes, just 3 pale tomato slices. 3 cucumber slices. No sprouts, no pumpkin seeds, no scallions. The chicken was greasy and the skin was pretty much inedible. This place seems like they blew their budget on design and marketing and paid little to no attention on the actual food they serve.

I don’t think this place warrants all the negative reviews. True, you can find tons of better, more authentic Thai restaurants in NYC. But this spot provides a quick meal at a decent price, and they offer a stamp card loyalty program which can earn you a free meal. Their Thursday special — $ 10 for an entrée, veggie spring rolls, and a tea — is an amazing deal, especially for the area. The drunken noodles were actually decently spicy and quite tasty. The veggie spring rolls were on point, some of the best ones I’ve had in awhile. And they have a fountain iced tea bar, so you can taste all the teas they have on tap. The Thai iced tea wasn’t overly sweet, which I can appreciate. I’d rate Dee Daa 3.5 stars, if Unilocal offered the option to rate half stars. The staff here is really nice, so I’d say my dining experience was an all around pleasant one. For quick Asian eats when I’m on the go, I’ll be stopping by again.

I walked in thinking I wanted a salad or something light but got enticed by the curry menu. I got the panang curry to go and it was alright for a quick lunch. Nothing to write home about but a good fix for your curry craving if you’re in the area. It was a good portion of food for the price. The highlight was really the thai tea I had. Remember to put some ice cubes in the cup before getting some! The tea isn’t very cold coming out of the dispenser but I still enjoyed it.

Two words… not good!!! I ordered the red curry and my friend ordered the Pad See Ew. As I started chowing down on my meal, I told my friend a couple of weeks ago I had red curry at a Thai restaurant that was everything I wanted in my red curry. This however was the exact opposite. It was not dreadful, but I would say it was not good either. My friend asked if her Pad See Ew could be made spicy, but it was way too spicy. I had a cm worth of flat noodle and my tongue was burning for the next few minutes. In my opinion, the spiciness masked all of the original flavors. My friend did not feel good eating it. So what are the two stars for? Friendly staff and trendy décor. It was colorful and brightly lit.

I got the pad thai to go. I thought it was good pad thai for the offering of the establishment. I wasn’t expecting anything too great. It’s fast food thai food people. I would go here again for sure. Great customer service as well.

Probably the worst thai food i’ve eaten. It’s your typical fast food thai place that makes you think its a full blown meal. It’s a open lay out and you can clearly see in the back kitchen that a lot of their items are pre packaged, frozen, and just reheated. Plenty of plastic bags being opened and dumped onto a stove for reheating. I had the stir fry and everything just came out a bit too raw and the sauce was not balanced but just spicey. None of that typical thai sweet, sour, spicey mix. Egg rolls were overly fried up and about the only thing that was good was the drinks. Fountain drinks that were in large containers. The lime lemongrass drink was refreshing. Service was subpar. I asked for noodles with my stir fry but ended up with rice. Go figure. One and done.

1. Too clean? How about footprints on the table? Probably someone from the staff got up on the table to fix something on the ceiling, but forgot to clean up after. 2. I ordered green curry. Asked for extra curry sauce, I said I can pay extra. Was told that each dish comes in a pre-defined«package»(whatever that means) and that in order to get extra curry sauce, get this — I have to order ANOTHER order of curry for $ 9 just for the sauce. NOT the things I want to hear/see from a just-opened place. Not coming back. 3. Two stars are for food, which is just OK.

I ordered the drunken noodles from here because the line at the juice shop was too long. Biggest mistake of my life. I took two bites of the most inedible noodles and twenty minutes later was puking my guts out. Now i am lying in bed in excruciating pain in my stomach region. What they serve here is not food

Absolutely delicious. Reading the other comments, «a little too clean» and«they didn’t have pork belly.»(Head smack) Pork belly isn’t Thai. I have never seen them serve it anywhere in traditional Thai establishments in Thailand. Must be confused with Chinese and Korean. Food was amazing. Great lunch deals. Service was great and friendly. I embrace too clean in restaurants. Call me crazy. And it’s new duhhhhhhhhh I loved it and it’s my new fav lunch place. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Very simple review here. I’m a New Yorker, we got Thai places ALL over. We know good Thai food, we know what good Thai food costs and we know what it tastes like. I saw Dee Da open and I was lured in by the store’s colorful layout and unique drink options. I had the Thai grilled chicken for 10 bucks. Two pieces of chicken, salad and some white rice. No drink, no side. I know they have these lunch deals which include stuff but I didn’t want a lunch deal, I wanted what I wanted dammit. Well, I basically paid 10 bucks for two pieces of chicken because rice is… well. rice and it was pretty bad rice at that and a regular little salad doesn’t make the price. It wasn’t even a fancy salad with shoots or fancy little edamame ! I will admit the chicken tasted good. I wanted to hate it but I just kept eating it and enjoying it more after every bite. The flavors are there. But I just kept thinking of my favorite Thai place where I could have had the pork belly house special. A massive plate of pork belly on top of rice with their house sauce and a hard boiled egg for two dollars cheaper. Or for 10 bucks I could have had the roast duck papaya salad, instead I had two pieces of chicken. My point is, the food is just too expensive for what you’re getting. you’re not fooling anybody in this city with this stuff, its fast food Thai. I compared it to Panda Express and I’ve come to the conclusion that Panda Express stuffs your plate higher and with more variety on a single plate. I know its not always about the amount of food but the flavors that are provided but… I expected more, now that I tried it, it’s outta my system, time to move on to other things. oh and one more thing. I got my food to go and they wrapped up my food in this weird container holder thing. No place to put my condiments I had to carry them on the side. I felt like I was carrying a food purse.

I went to Dee da 3 days after opening. It was still very clean in there. A little too clean. There was seating but not enough for large groups. Probably fit around 10 people max. I never tried their food so the lady suggested the Thursday Pad Thai deal. $ 10.00 for a pad Thai, two spring rolls, and a drink of my choice — I got the Thai iced tea. It was definitely a good deal considering that it was filling and included a meal, appetizer, a drink, and the location. I ordered and literally 5 minutes later the pad Thai was finished. I asked«how did you guys cook the chicken that quickly?!» — he responded with«that is how we want to serve people. Quickly.» I proceed to get my drink which you fill yourself. There were about 5 – 6 options. I chose the Thai Iced Tea. I tried it and it was not too sweet which I appreciated. It also was VERY watered down. Strange. The pad Thai and the spring rolls were housed in a biodegradable looking container which was nice. But I did not like the packaging that he put it in. It was opened and I was carrying a drink and side sauces which had no place for. Good thing I work only a block away. Definitely not good for snow, rain, or windy days. I opened the pad Thai and all I saw was chicken, noodles, very few bean sprouts, and peanuts. It definitely looked very bland. I tried it and it tasted pretty bad. Definitely do not consider getting it. The spring rolls were a lot better. None of the food I got tasted authentic — which I realized Dee DA is a chain restaurant. It felt like a fast food chain store and tasted like one too. I highly suggest not eating here.
