Only stopped in for a coffee out of curiosity. I had heard of Dean & Deluca but not really sure what it was about. It didn’t appear to be a traditional restaurant. A display case with deli-style foods, some pastries, paninis, breakfast items and a coffee bar. After reading a few reviews, apparently this is not a full-blown Dean & Deluca but just a café — whatever that means. Can you tell I’m from out of town? I don’t even know what a full-blown D&D is actually like. Which suits me fine: I just wanted coffee anyway. They had mochas on their menu and then a small list of extra flavorings, one of which was blackberry. When I asked for a mocha with blackberry, the cashier looked at me like I spoke a different language and said«ooooh kay» which I took to be somewhat strange and a bit rude. Then when she tried to explain it to the barista, he too had a weird look on his face and then spent several minutes trying to find the blackberry syrup. IT’S ONYOURMENU, PEOPLE. A MOCHA, ADDBLACKBERRY. IT’S NOTSCIENCE. Luckily it tasted okay. I did add a couple packets of sugar to make it sweeter, but that’s just my preference, not anything that D&D did. It was good. It hit the spot. Now if I lived in NYC, I probably would bypass this place for somewhere more friendly who wouldn’t make me feel like an idiot for adding blackberry to my espresso.

Absolutely delicious combinations. Fresh, creative, delicious! I started by selecting the veggie sushi but as we walked down the line the panini descriptions were just too tempting to resist. I chose the Bergamot panini, a phenomenal combo of broccolini, roasted tomato and taleggio cheese on house baked sourdough. Every ingredient was exquisite and the quality was proven in every bite. My daughter had the vegan minestrone and wanted to lick the bowl! My niece and sister raved about their sushi! We could not go past the blackberry donut, but divided it to avoid a guilty conscience! My flat white was perfection and the chai latte was joy in a cup. The service was patient and lovely too. Good on you New Yorkers for dispelling the reputation for rudeness. You won’t find an ounce of it here. Thank you!

They have great pastries here, I mean like… I would rather eat the pastries here than the ones offered over across the street at the Cake Boss place. I shared a pecan bar with my family and it was HEAVENLY. Packed full of pecans, and just bursting with buttery flavor. However, this being a Dean & Deluca… I guess I was just expecting more? Even if it is just a small café. The prices for some things are outrageous though, $ 20 for a pound of coffee, really? And then if you want the 4 oz bag, it’s 6.99, uh, no, sorry. I had sushi while I was here too, that was priced ok, but it really wasn’t that great. Overall, stop by for a pastry, it’s really very good.

Alas, this is just a café and not a full blown Dean & Deluca. I came in on a cold rainy night in nyc. My mission was was try one of their Chai lattes and grab a coffee mug to bring home. I’ll start by saying the Chai was terrific as expected. Not too sweet at all and kept me warm inside. The coffee mug on the other hand was somewhat disappointing. The only mug they sold with«New York» on the cup was a «diner» cup. Diner cups are small and more suitable for Instant coffee than something I’d make from home. I bought one anyway. It’s not really a good place for buying stuff other than food or coffee. The gift items are limited compared to their full store.

I have worked across the street from Dean & Deluca for over 2 years, and have been an almost daily customer ever since. They recently remodeled the location, and ever since it has been a disastrous experience. The line in the morning is absurd, the wait time for a regular coffee is an average of 15 minutes, and the staff is less than helpful. Today I waited over 25 minutes for my drink, which was given to me lukewarm and was incorrect drink(although the correct drink and my name were written on the outside). For the price and the brand name of D&D, I expect a much better service. After 100s of coffees at this location, today will be my last.

Usually a huge fan of dean & deluca so I stopped by for breakfast before my bus. I felt like it was practice day. Ordered two cinnamon bagels with cream cheese. The was no cream cheese… What??? Seems like a simple request. They offered us rock solid butter and one tiny jelly sachet. I asked for peanut butter instead. No peanut butter? Is this a deli or what? The coffee line is confusing. The two people ahead of me were in an argument over where to line up. The staff were lovely and trying really hard but the management need to make sure there is some type of ordering system. It is clean and welcoming.

Rosanjin is temporarily closed with no estimation of reopening date; really miss that place as it provides one of the best sushi in town. Fortunately I could still have a taste from here, given they were also prepared by Rosanjin. They serve rolls, wraps, regular sushi, or even gyoza and edamame. Not that in a mood for a feast so only grabbed the avocado salad wrap, yet they were fresh and indeed reminded my experience back at Rosanjin two years ago. However I believe they really should be working on their lines for checkout and ordering. Essentially people were lining up for both purchasing pastries and paying bills; even though probably you are not buying anything made-fresh, you still have to go through the process of waiting! Such a waste of time(in my case, people in front of me spent at least 10 minutes wondering what macarons they were getting, so frustrated!) Other than that unpleasant experience, I enjoyed every single visit here given the high quality of food. Will be back!

Redesign elevated form over function, and minor annoyances ensue. The petite women working behind the extra-tall deli counter couldn’t see customers as they approached, and thus helped 2 – 3 people who had stepped up after me. They’re lucky the macaroons are delicious.

The world’s worst iced coffee. Looks like iced tea, tastes like water. 2 stars for great staff, helpful & nice.

Best place on 40th /8th block to get coffee and chill. Service is fast. Coffee is good. Good sized seating area. Have been here 4x at rush hour around lunch and have always gotten a table for 2 no problem. The chicken specialty sandwich is off the hook.

THEREWAS A PIECEOFGLASSINMYCOOKIE. REPEAT: THEREWAS A PIECEOFGLASSINMYCOOKIE. I was eating my chocolate chip cookie minding my own business when I got to the last bite and realized that there was a giant piece of glass in the cookie. Who knows how many tiny shards of glass I ate until I finally realized… All I can say is I’m not going to this dean and deluca ever again!

If I could indicate 0 stars, I would. I got the cranberry orange scone and it’s drier than the Sahara Desert. The staff is not friendly and processes orders with the urgency of a snail. My mistake for trying to grab something quick before going upstairs to my office.

Stopped at Dean & Deluca twice during my visit to NY. As others have noted, this is a café and is not a full Dean and Deluca store. That said, there is a great assortment of baked goods, salads, sushi, and coffee. The café has floor to ceiling windows and is extremely clean. Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful. The apple bran muffin was the best I’ve ever had. The pumpernickel bagel was solid, although I was disappointed that they didn’t have their own homemade cream cheese.

If you ever find yourself near Port Authority, this place is a good place to escape the cold to grab some coffee or grub. The place is clean, the staff was friendly, but the prices are kind of up there. My small chickpea lentil soup was like $ 6.50. Boy did it taste good, though. It came with a small pretzel bun and the staff threw in a second one for me, so I was happy. I was excited that they sold GT’s Synergy Kombucha there, but it was like $ 5. Yikes! I hate using public restrooms, but these were not too bad.

The remodel is nicer… No doubt about that. The surfaces are warmer and there are far more options to choose from from a pre-made food perspective. Missing is the salad bar which was really my number one reason for coming. Choice ingredients meets good portion and services. With that out the door it’s turned more into a cafeteria with a lot of pre-made options. Still a big problem is the wind coming off 8th avenue, the layout(while better it is still a very difficult space to plan to), and only breakfast sandwich options. The salad bar loss is the biggest fallback for me. I will miss that about this location but I’m sure to come in for a quick bite and a solid coffee now and again. Their coffee is still(IMHO) a lot better than even COFFEED across the street. Wish there was other healthy breakfast options here like a egg white omelettes, and other no-carb/low carb options. New York is the bread capital consumption of the world. Be nice if D&D would offer something more.

I come for the ginger cookies but since this location is in time square and I have a feeling that all baked goods are not done onsite so their ability to manage their inventory can pose as a problem if you go for you daily/weekly ‘fix’. The place is super clean however I just love D&D in Soho with the full grocery.

Dean & Deluca’s Times Square location is nowhere near as organized as the location in Soho. The Times Square location is never really packed(I’ve been there a handful of times) but they somehow managed to make mistakes for all of my orders(overcharging me). The selection is also much smaller than the one in Soho. I would only come here for the coffee since it’s almost impossible to mess up coffee.

What is this mess of a place? No one needs to spend this much money on poor food, or food this small. I don’t get it. Is this suppose to be hip or something? They get one star for the marshmallow crispy treat they sell. It is made by an outside company, and they are incredible. That is the best thing Dean and Deluca does.

5 stars for creating a Lynchian alternate sub-universe for me: I was unable to find this location on a recent trip despite knowing exactly where it was and having been there before. Maybe all those drugs do have a long lasting toll. Ruh roh… 2 stars for the actual business. Look, it’s a Dean and Deluca: it is what it is. Wide assortment of things that sound/look better than they actually are and cost more than they should. I was looking for it, so evidently it isn’t bad enough to steer me away.
