I love daisy’s. I come for their sandwiches, and cookies, along with a latte regularly. Went in yesterday to find out that they are closing and today will be their last day. So upsetting! We will miss you daisy’s!

Nothing spectacular; overpriced cappacuino and dry French toast. It’s also a really cheap place; they advertise«Free Cookie Fridays» and it’s really about the size of half of your thumb. Oh, and its a $ 10 minimum if you’re using a card. But with a $ 4 minimum and $ 8 french toast that was really only a slice of bread with a little shot of syrup on the side, the $ 10 minimum obviously wasn’t a problem :/The only thing saving it is the vibe– it does have a cute atmosphere and the staff tries to be friendly, but it’s no THINK coffe or Joe the Art of Coffee, obvi. Save your money.

It’s the FREECOOKIE on fridays that made me walk into daisy’s café this week. Yea i know i know, i’m weak. Who doesn’t love a cookie with their morning coffee though? Right? Anyway, i walked into Daisy’s and once again i was tricked by advertisements. Their chalkboard said«try our Carmel latte» and i thought, why not? I havent ordered one in a really long time, and this time I really wasnt pleased with my choice. THEPRICE: -$ 4.63 for a small caramel latte!!! Yes, it’s nyc but i’ve never payed more than $ 3.50 anywhere and those drinks were FAR more superior than this one. THETASTE: –slightly sweet, barely warm and lacking any taste resembling a caramel latte. It was sweet warm milk with a hint of coffee flavor. The«free cookie» they offer is also more like a «free crumb». It’s a tiny bite size, bland chocolate chip cookie. No taste whatsoever, except for a slight sweetness much like the latte. What can i expect right? It was free and you can’t exactly complain about anything you didn’t pay for. Given that, i certainly feel like the price i payed for the latte pretty much covered that little crumb! This café isnt a total fail though. The service was really nice. The barista was sweet and helpful and i also wouldnt write off all their drinks since i’ve only tried one. Maybe i’ll try a chai latte and see how that stands up next time. The place is also a nice spot to read or do some work since its doesnt seem like it gets overly crowded. They also offer quite a few pasteries and muffins that don’t look very appealing but maybe some of their other drinks are good? Either way, i will never be fooled by a «free cookie» sign AGAIN!(maybe???)

First of all, the chicken/tarragon sandwich is divine! The dressing is simply delicious. I highly recommend it. Another great option is the salami sandwich. Their food is always fresh, as majority of it is made on the premise, unlike many other cafes in the neighborhood. Love the atmosphere, very cute and welcoming décor. Staff is always friendly and helpful, I am always greeted with a smile. Lastly…try the brownies as a treat… delicious!!!

The Bad Vibe Café… read that review! I couldn’t have written it better… Here’s an example of the owners interaction with me… you decide. I am relatively new to the café… I started coming around sept… and really liked the coffee. My son came home from college last month, and so I decided to share this morning ritual with him. The first coffee was great. He was hooked! During his winter break, we would make our morning trek to Daisy’s to get our morning brew. That’s just under $ 8.00 for two lattes. btw.I live two blocks away… so one morning, when I got the lattes home, I was so disappointed that they were not hot, …they were more like lukewarm. I couldn’t go back because the day had already started for me, so I heated them up in a saucepan and served one to my son. He asked me if I’d gone to the same place…“This is terrible” was his comment. Next time I came to the café, I mentioned this to one of the workers there… a tall man, who shares the same charismatic face as the owner, Amy… I explained to him that the coffees were on the cold side… and he just LOOKEDATME. He didn’t say anything… Not, «oh, sorry ’bout that… or we’ll do a better job this time.» NOTHING!!! I don’t know how people find themselves in service oriented businesses and behave in such an unfriendly, almost nasty way.(but as Mile C’s review states, the staff seems to reflect the owner’s behavior.) That is soooooo on the MONEY! In any event, …I kept going there, because morning coffee is a ritual, and this has become my place for the moment… Another day, I mentioned that by the time I got home the coffee was cold, and the owner told me that it was because the weather was freezing outside. So, I came in today and asked that they bag my coffee(to protect it from the cold winds) so I could enjoy a hot latte at home. She packaged it in a brown paper bag. And I walked the two blocks home. When I got in my elevator, the bag broke because it got wet… and out poured my latte on the carpet! I was @#! to say the least, but… as a person who loves their morning coffee, I realized I was going to have to go back to the café, and get another. I decided to bring the wet broken bottom bag to the café, just for evidence… I figured if they were so deadpan about my comment that the coffees were cold in the past, they surely will look at me cross eyed if I came in without the wet bag. One would think, that since I had been in the café not even ten minutes prior… one of the staff would say…“ooops…sorry about that… or maybe, stuff happens.“ but that’s not what happen… instead, the owner, came to me with a disgusted look in her eyes and said, «Nothing seems to be working out for you here»…I guess that was her warm inviting way of asking me not to come back. She didn’t say a word more. She just turned around… as someone made me a new latte, and then charged me for it. How gracious!

Bad Vibe Café. The tone of this place is set by the owner. She’s a particularly uncharismatic woman. The staff seem to reflect this in their schizoid behavior. Sometimes nice(probably when she is not around) and sometimes unpleasant. Other than that… i think the mini egg salad brioche sandwiches are tasty.

Friendly, good sandwiches but avoid the watery and bland iced tea.

$ 3 for a TINY latte is a bit much even by NYC standards IMHO. My latte WAS good but it want anything special. I could probably get more for the same or less at a chain. The single factor preventing me from giving 4 stars is the SMELL of that place. It smells like maybe the floor was mopped with dirty water or there was once a moldy rug in there. I can’t quite put my finger on it but it wasn’t pleasant. Would return if I were in a hurry maybe.

Nothing special. The counter people won’t put sweetener in your coffee or tea even though you’re paying $ 3 per cup for it. Some of the baked goods are obviously frozen and barely defrosted prior to being put out for sale — especially true of the cupcakes. I brought cupcakes here that were still hard in the middle because they were still kinda frozen. Most of the baked goods are nothing to write home about. The parfait is good but overpriced. There is very little seating inside. It’s maybe enough for less than 10 people — 3 tables that can seat 2 each and 3 window counter chairs. There are 2 benches just outside. The A/C is one of those portable internal units that doesn’t work well on really hot days. Most of the counter people are okay. The Hispanic dude is really nice. The owner of the café is a real trip though. Honestly, she’s not particularly nice to non-whites. She won’t hand over our cup of coffee until she has our money in hand(no big deal with the white customers though). She also once asked one of the counter people why I was given one of the punch cards(that gets punched every time you buy something and you eventually get a free coffee). What up with that? The best story I have about the owner is once a black dude was sitting on one of her benches outside the café. She went outside to shoo him away. Yeah, if he didn’t buy something then she had the right to ask him to move on but white people do it all the time. The guy calmly replied that he wasn’t homeless. The owner then went buck wild and started screaming at him, «Do you know who I am? DOYOUKNOWWHO I AM? I’M VINNY(SO-AND-SO’S — didn’t catch the last name) WIFE!!!» It was like something out of mob wives. We were standing across the street laughing our a**es off! Who’s Vinny???

This a cute little coffee shop that reminds me more of Brooklyn or the LES than it does the UES. The muffins all seem to be made on premise and that makes me think the sandwiches are too. I got myself a coffee and an Almond coffee cake muffin. The muffin was really good. So was the coffee. The interior is so cute. A lite yellow with splashes of blue here and there. There are small tables meant for 2 at one side and a little window watching stool setup at the other, where there is also a counter set up for adding sugar and grabbing a few napkins. The little tables have a long bench against the wall and comfy looking wicker chairs(of course I took the bench, since I was just there reading a book and enjoying my coffee and muffin). All this sums up to a cute and cozy little café. I’m definitely going to come back here. Its a little out of my way, but I haven’t found another place closer that feels this cozy with good coffee.

Daisy’s café is one of the WORST cafes in the city. I cant believe that a café of its poor caliber can survive here. The coffee is undrinkable, and the pastries are not worth the calories or the money. I would recommend walking a few blocks up to the Starbucks on 75th and 2nd — the prices are comparable to Daisys café and the coffee/food is palatable.

Cozy but a/c wasn’t working well and they kicked me out early when I was studying. It would’ve been nice if they warned me what time they were closing since there is no sign.

A cute café down the st from where I used to reside, and down the st from work. I visit often for their different and delish PARFAIT. Filled with alternating layers of granola, vanilla yogurt, and honey. Top layered with fresh(not canned) strawberries and blueberries. I’ve heard good things about their TUNASANDWICH and SALADS. I’ve tried their chicken salad sandwich before, not bad. Staff is incredibly friendly and on fridays you get a free cookie with every purchase! 4 stars because the parfait is a bit on the pricey side, but is definitely yummier than say, the McDs $ 1 parfait.

Good sandwiches and cupcakes, but the service made it. When they didn’t have one of my sandwiches and had to trade for another, they sent the larger size when I had paid for the smaller, and tripled my cupcakes for free.

Under a scaffold now, so kinda dark inside and out. A couple of benches and table outside on the street. Starbucks-priced coffee. Nice enough staff.

This was no starbucks but I definitely like this spot. The servers were very friendly and everything looks freshly made. It’s one of those nice little spots that you wouldn’t pay attention too but I think it was the lighting of the place that caught my eye. Their menu has a wide variety of items. If you go on friday nights, you get a free cookie. Free Cookie Friday! If I am ever in the are again, I would definitely come back again. Good service & Good Coffee! The coffee definitely caught my love and desire for some more =]

here’s another wonderful place that i accidental discovered. This time it was on my walk home from yet another horrific haircut. I went inside in the hopes of finding something to pick up for lunch. it was such an unassuming place that i did not expect to have such success. the sandwich selection was so great that i had a really hard time deciding what to order. i wound up getting melted brie with tomato and truffle butter on pressed sourdough. i wish i had never discovered such a combination because i now crave it constantly. the sandwich was hot and delicious, and a pretty creative twist on an old classic. i would award more stars, but there was hardly any place to sit, and nothing was displayed very well.

I first went to Daisy’s when they were part of the Free Coffee Days a few months back. I usually make my own coffee and wasn’t interested in finding a place near my office to buy a cup. However, I’d check it out for free. A few months later, I am sitting at my desk sipping a cup of Daisy’s coffee, one that I paid for. I know they don’t make their pastries in house, but their muffins are delicious(again, I say this as I’m chomping down on a coffee cake one). The prices are reasonable($ 3.30 for a small coffee and a big muffin), their staff is generally friendly but every once in awhile they seem disinterested in serving you. Plus? They have soy milk. Their coffee is always hot and never burnt, and while it isn’t the greatest cup of joe I’ve had, it’s pretty decent and I find myself going there more and more often during my scramble for caffeine.

Cute little café to get tea, coffee, and snacks(baked goods, sandwiches, etc). The hot chocolate(«made from a chocolate bar») is pretty damn delicious. It’s pre-made with whole and skim milk, so it’s not really a low-fat option. According to the staff, they make the sandwiches, brownies, and a few other things in house, but bring in the pastries from another place. The sandwiches are a bit pricey for my taste($ 7.75 for a tuna sandwich, although the delivery menu says $ 6.75), but they do look pretty good. They have«petit» sandwiches that are a couple dollars cheaper. There is minimal seating, but it would be a good place to hang out and read a book if you can get a spot. They also have free delivery.
