Used to come here for their fatty beef creamy rice and calamari. I used to think it was delicious until the last time I went. There was a huge decline in the taste and quality of their food. The creamy rice had no taste. I tried putting some salt on the rice and it was still tasteless. The calamari were chewy and rubbery. I don’t think I will be coming back.

I had the beef curry omelette rice and my friend had the chicken creamy rice. My dish was pretty good: it had the perfect amount of beef curry, the omelette was cooked perfectly and it was aesthetically pleasing when the omelette engulfed the cooked white rice. My friend said her dish was pretty good except for chicken-to-rice ration. There was too much rice. She seemed to like the cream on the rice while I found it strange. The reason why it lost a star was because the room was too cold.

This place use to be really popular amongst highschool erst and I use to come here all the time to get their burgers and fries. This is a really good place to come here with friends and just talk and chill.

I first came here when it opened not too long ago and the food was pretty good, but coming back after some time, it felt as if there was a big decline in their food. I came once with my and had a soup and dessert. I tried the lobster bisque soup which taste wise was not bad, but it would have been better if the soup wasn’t lukewarm when it came. I had the green tea tiramisu for dessert, which was ok too, but flavor wasn’t too strong. The almond cookie that came on top of it was somewhat burnt looking though. I came back another time with my family and I had the beef patty with rice, which was basically a burger patty with rice and a sunny side egg. I also chose the curry sauce for the flavor. The patty was very lean and it felt overcooked so it was overall really dry. We also tried the stirfry udon which was better but it didn’t seem like anything special that you couldn’t make yourself. My mom got the pork katsu with rice and curry sauce. This dish was ok too, but don’t expect it to wow you. Pretty much just breaded and fried pork with japanese curry, but even though its standard, its probably one of the«safer» dishes we go for that we know we won’t dislike. We also got the sweet potato waffle fries which is good, but that isn’t something that is hard to mess up on. Overall the food here is just mediocre. Some things just sound better than they taste. If you really want to eat around the area, there are tons of other places around to choose from that has better options.

A lot of variety on their menu. I went with a group of six friends and there was no wait. We got the Cajun fries and calamari as appetizers. The three sauces that came with the calamari, one of them had a piece of hair in it. When we asked for a replacement they just gave us soy sauce… We each got a main dish and none of us really finished… Food was too heavy and none of us wanted to eat anymore.

Customer Service 3 of 5 Food Quality 4 of 5 Wait to be Seated 5 of 5 Food Handling Time 3 of 5 This is my usual place to go to for unexpected dinner outings. My boy friend and I enjoy eating here, although I can’t say much of their cuisine. Italian? Vietnamese? Chinese? idk We’ve noticed the chef changes, price changes,… but they still haven’t fully grasped or tied our feet to this restaurant juussssstttt, yet.(you know what i’m saying?!) I believe it has a lot to do with customer service. There’s not a single face I remember at this restaurant… but ANYWAYS. Not bad, not bad, Cutting Board of Canal Street. But I gotta give it to you, we still think of you when we are by Canal Street.

They raised their price in their food without reflecting it on their menu. Their menu still had the old price $ 6.25 for the grilled chicken on rice but instead they charged us almost $ 10 because now it comes with a few california rolls and a salad. The waiter never told us this and we didn’t notice it until the bill came out to $ 40+ for a party of 3.(We ordered the sweet potato fries and each person had their own rice dish.) The waiter made it look like the salad was on the house when it arrived and never told us it’s an addition to our dish which the price also went up. That’s like paying for the rolls and salad when we never even touched it. Never coming back again. I told the waiter that it’s not right to change the price out of nowhere without informing us beforehand and none of your menus have the new prices. It took a few arguments for him to charge us the old price. Robbery!

I’ve been here several times with friends. My friends actually love this place but I’m not really attracted to this place, only come here when I’m closeby or something. In my personal opinion, I think their food is okay. Last time when I came here, I ordered a curry fish ball and it came out like raw. It wasn’t 100% cooked and I let them know so they took it off my bill. In addition, I also ordered a pork katsu udon, it was okay, I only liked the udon because I thought the pork katsu was too dry and wasn’t that good. Overall, I would give them a 3.5.

They must of changed the chefs!!! Food doesn’t taste like before :(. Service was good… The clams were like rubbers /plastic! Ordered their spaghetti, Portuguese style over rice… And some other dishes– all tastes bland. Unfortunately… Not going to order from here again !

At first glance, the pork dumplings seem to be swimming in oil. However, a closer look dictates that the oil is actually the dumpling sauce. Dumplings aren’t bad, but nothing to rave about. As for the teriyaki burger, I couldn’t eat it. The meat wasn’t great; I don’t think it was chicken breast. It had stringy, chewy bits coming off of it and that really turned me off it. Not much teriyaki flavor either. On the plus side, they have cool lighting, but you can’t eat lighting.

I got a lobster roll because I was really craving one. I wasn’t expecting an amazing one, but my need for a lobster roll beat out any misgivings I might have about order lobster roll from a fusion place. So first of all, the way the my order was put together looked unappealing. Basically, it was my lobster roll with what looked like a handful of Lay’s potato chips thrown on top. I could’t see my pickle at first, but turns out it was underneath everything. The lobster roll didn’t taste like canned lobster to me, but it also didn’t taste fresh. It had a stale, days old seafood kind of taste. And I found a pretty big piece of lobster shell in my roll too, which almost broke my teeth. This seems to be a pretty common from what I see in the other reviews, so they should really work on this. Didn’t satisfy my lobster roll craving at all. Would not get it again. Would not recommend it to friends.

I’d been here before(almost 2 years ago) and thought it was pretty decent — I would’ve given it like 3 – 3.5 based on my past experiences. Then I stopped by again a couple days ago and was super disappointed. I’ve gotten calamari every time, and this time it was bland and rubbery. Even the sauces tasted a bit funky. The marinara sauce in the middle used to be my favorite, but this time it tasted watered down. Curry fish balls were all right but some of them had a weird, doughy/rubbery texture. We also got the fries w/bacon and cheese sauce. The fries themselves were decent but I didn’t care for the cheese sauce. It was too salty and just way too artificial tasting. The omelet rice w/meat sauce was pretty good. The meat sauce was great, but the omelet and rice were bland in comparison.

I’ve been to this restaurant quite a couple of times and always had the best customer service. I usually go here with friends because the food is very appetizing and gets you quite full. The workers are nice but they watch you eat sometimes so that’s kind of awkward. In general, they’re pretty nice and chill. One time they got my order wrong when my friends and I already ate the food we thought was ours, yet they still took the eaten food off the bill. I would totally suggest you come here whenever you need something to fill your stomach.

I just ordered lunch from here via Seamless and I am at a complete loss of words. I got the Grilled Salmon Omelette Rice and it was the most flavorless, saddest lunch I’ve ever had. For $ 12, you would think they can afford to season the food. Nope, not a single drop of salt, not a single drop of pepper, and they didn’t even give me the«miso ketchup» as described. I literally got regular ketchup in a little container on the side. I appreciate getting sauce on the side so it doesn’t make my food soggy, but at least give me the right sauce and not just regular ketchup. I enjoy ketchup with my eggs, but not when ketchup is the ONLY source of flavor for the eggs, rice, and salmon. If you’re not going to season the eggs, at least cook the rice with some flavor. The«buttered rice» has only that — butter. Oh, and I managed to find one piece of mushroom and two pieces of diced onion. The grilled salmon isn’t bad, but again, it’s completely lacking in flavor. If you like your food to be completely bland, then by all means, go for it. Otherwise, go somewhere else.

My boyfriend and I decided to get take out from here after the snow storm since he around there. weve tried the flushing cutting board numerous times before and we decently liked it but this one is a different story. it took us around 30 min to get home so we can understand that since we had to take it home, it would be different than actually eating it there but the flavor shouldnt be compromised. that night we ordered, creamy rice with seafood, sweet potato waffle fries, ice cream with red bean(came as a drink), mint chocolate chip ice cream with a hard chocolate shell(forgot the exact name) and korean ribs with rice. sweet potato waffle fries — very yummy and decently large order creamy rice with seafood — barely any seafood, rice was very bland. ive gotten this in flushing before so i was disappointed when it didnt taste similar. ice cream with red bean — we expected it to be melted but it was more like a vanilla ice slush with red bean cause we actually saw ice cubes in it… instead of ice cream with red bean mint chocolate chip ice cream with a hard chocolate shell — ok first off, i ordered the mint chocolate chip one but instead i got cookies and cream. it was REALLY good. $ 4.95 for a decently sized ball. korean ribs with rice– bf said that flushing one is better. mabe it was cause of the storm and they didnt have a lot of sizes ready but the ribs came with 2 sides and they were the same and not tasty… there are so many options in chinatown that im not sure if i would really give this place a try again but i would get the ice cream again

All in all, a very strange experience with pretty crappy food. Stopped in with a friend, while waiting for others in our group to finish shopping in Chinatown. I asked to sit at a table in the front room as there were many open, was walked to the back, which was crowded and had a weird vibe, asked again to sit in the front and then was finally told, ok. Once seated we ordered coffee. There was no question about cream or sugar, it just came with both already added. We chose to just deal with it and move on. It took about 20 minutes before someone stopped by the table again so we could order desserts. We ordered a banana pancake and a pistachio ice-cream bomb. The banana pancake was a cold pancake wrapped around an entire banana with what appeared to be a pile of soap bubbles??? Figured maybe it was a cool gastronomic touch, like a flavor foam, but could distinguish no flavor whatsoever. The pistachio ice-cream bomb was ok, really really average. Based on this and prior reviews, I am wondering how much longer this place can last. I wish them success in the new year, hopefully they will rethink their menu and customer service.

I don’t know what happened. I have never had an issue with this place before but after my recent dining experience, I dont think I’m ever coming back. Firstly, the waitress who served my boyfriend and I was rude and grumpy. She avoided eye contact and gave so much attitude for no reason. She even threw her hand on the table while we were trying to order. Obviously, her poor service would later affect the amount of tip we gave in the end. However, she got off work midway between our meal. You would think that our experience would get better from here but guess what, ANOTHER grumpy worker came to serve us. This time, a male. Seriously, two grumpy workers?! I don’t know if it’s their bad day or my bad day… (At this point, my sister joined for dinner and I complained to her about the terrible service). When we finished our meal, we were all deciding on tip and during that time, the party across us was getting ready to leave. One of the guys passed by us and legit told us to pay little tip for bad service. Seems like we weren’t the only ones dissatisfied. After they left, the male waiter glared at us while we continued to discuss over tip. We were nearly done paying when he just walked right to us to pick up the receipt. Once he saw the amount, he was enraged. He restated that we needed to give 15% tip as if we didn’t know that in the first place. My sister kindly explained that we were unsatisfied with his co-worker and how he reacted afterwards was UNREAL. He snatched the receipt back and stormed off angrily without saying anything else to us. I was so shocked. Honestly, this has got to be my worst dinner experience. I can’t even explain how disappointed I am with the service that not even the food can make up for it. I really want to believe that this place can do better because the food is actually decent. As of right now, I am being super generous by giving it 2 stars. My boyfriend believes that they deserve 0 stars, but to be fair, we all left with a full belly. Plus, my sister loves the mussels here. Was it worth it though? Not at all.

I only go to this place because there are so many things to pick from this menu. The food is pretty good and the price is fair but the service is horrible. Workers there hate their jobs or something. No smiles or any form of communication. They look like they’re pissed at the world. Even when you ask them a question they don’t seem to want to answer. After deciding what to order, we had to wait so long to get their attention because one is busy texting on her phone and the others are outside serving other customers. If I can’t decide what to eat with friends and don’t want to spend much, I’d come here but other than that I wouldn’t come for bad service.

Cutting Board is a Chinese/French/Italian conglomerate restaurant that opened in the past years so it’s still relatively new. This may be weird, but I really like the curry chicken with rice here. I’ve been here three times in my life and I’ve ordered the curry chicken dish two out of the three times. Maybe next time, I’ll try the spaghetti dishes or possibly seafood(the clams here look appealing). I did, however ordered the fried calamari and it didn’t disappoint. It also came with several different dipping sauces, so there were options. Would I come back? Sure.
