Thanks to my fellow Unilocaler buddie Cynthia D. for letting me know about the Free Sandwich which ends today! Be sure to print out your coupon to redeem it. I was looking at the clock and saw it was 11:30am so I rushed over thinking there was a massive line out of the door but luckily I was in there and out in like less than 5 mins. Everyone was holding their coupons. The line moved fast as the staff already pre-made the sandwiches so the free sandwich is cold… you can either nuke it or you like it cold baby! I got the Tuscan Pesto mmmmm mama like and the cashier gives you a bag of carrots along with your free sandwich. I gave a small donation in the box at the counter that goes towards the Food Bank For New York City! I finally nuke my sandwich for 30 secs and the aroma from the pesto pulled me. Mmmmm the flatbread is definitely the best part that makes this sandwich a whole. My sandwich was stuffed with chicken as some places are cheap about it. Definitely a great cause !

I ordered the buffalo chicken bleu — it was basically bread and lettuce with a sprinkle of chicken garnish. For a $ 10 sandwich other midtown lunch places so much better.

Bottom line is this place is wayyy better than it was a year ago. Awesome lunch sandwiches. The flatbread is on point and you can’t argue with the prices — totally reasonable for midtown. Haven’t tried it yet but heard the new coffee is great.

This is just a review for breakfast because that’s all I’ve had there. I had a croissant sandwich and it was DELICIOUS… the eggs on there were creamy and amazing. Paired this with a caramel latte and it was one of the best I’d ever had… way better than Starbucks, even. One star removed because the ordering system they have there is awful… you have to order from the people making your sandwiches at the food counter and the people working there are rude and then you take your ticket to the coffee bar area and order your coffee and pay there. The people at the coffee bar were nice though. The people at the food counter would give some people a number that they’d call out and other people didn’t get a number… it was confusing and not uniform at all. Maybe they do this differently during lunch hours but this was what it was like when I went. A big cluster fuck.

I’m forced to come here on Saturdays when I’m at the office and literally no other salad bar in a one mile vicinity is open. I can’t say it’s the worst salad I’ve ever had, but it’s not great. I get mixed greens with a few different veggies and avocado and it comes out to 10 bucks — kinda steep. The«mixed greens» is really just a bunch of iceberg lettuce with like 3 good greens mixed in. The avo is soaked in lime so as not to turn brown, but it ends up tasting a little funky, and the other veggies aren’t really that fresh. Oh well. Their one redeeming quality is that their multi grain bread is delicious, but for those of us who strive to have our salads sans bread, it might make more sense to walk and find a good deli with a good salad bar…

So, after word got around that Cosi apparently has a promo for pickup orders, I told some of my co-workers and we all went to get some Cosi one afternoon. After ordering online for 12PM pick-up, we headed over. At 12PM, no one’s orders came. We probably waited about 15 – 20 minutes for it to arrive, much of which Cosi got wrong — meaning they doubled some orders and many took a very long time to come. However, the person working there was really apologetic about it — there were a lot of online orders placed at the same time. Now, there are places to sit, but very few and the non-pickup section gets super crowded around lunch, so just be wary of that. Now, as for the food — it wasn’t stellar. Half a sandwich is about $ 5.99 with chips and trust me — it is not worth that much. It’s literally a square with two pieces of chicken and very watery dressing. An add-on soup is $ 2.79, and it’s a very shallow soup. That adds up to almost $ 9… you can get much more with your money at Hale and Hearty. The kettle chips are okay — very oily and not very salty. I wouldn’t have paid regular price for this, so thank goodness for the promo.

Veggie Sandwich on muligrain– had grilled veggies and goat cheese. Goat cheese spread was too thin to taste. Veggies were good, but there wasn’t too much of them. Mostly just shredded lettuce. The bread, because I had it toasted just tasted like a giant croûton. Overall, okay. but for $ 9… I didn’t think it was full enough. I was still hungry. No substance to it. Only positive, because they use thin bread and limit the ingredients, probably one of the lowest calorie and lowest salt contents I have seen for similar sandwiches.

Give me a break… Save your time and walk your butt across the street for Starbucks. Better coffee, they have croissants and light breakfast. You’ll have better service and save a few calories on cosi’s disgusting food.

Do they have anything to hide ? Been to COSI yesterday. Not bad, not good, industrial food… A friend asked me to take a picture of the oven. While taking the picture I’ve been screamed at by the manager… «TAKINGANYPICSOFANYCOSIRESTAURANTISFORBIDDEN» What the f… k ? They have no right to refrain me of taking pictures… Now I am sure they have certainly something to hide… I will find out. Please take as many pictures as you can…

Came in at 11:01, asked nicely to have breakfast, and was turned down harshly. The setup is extremely confusing — walk in, figure out what counter to order from, walk across the restaurant to pay with a piece of paper, then go to the other end of the restaurant to sit. On all that, with their unconventional methods, the employees were slightly rude and did not assist me. The food was not good enough to get away with their setup. If you choose to come here, come with someone that’s been here before, or try to figure it out yourself.

I always love coming to Cosi. If you haven’t tried it, I recommend coming in for the bread alone. The sandwich bread they use is a crispy yet fluffy flatbread with the perfect amount of spice. Very tasty. I have tried multiple sandwiches here(regular and melts) and have enjoyed them all. The only downside to this location is the layout is quite cramped and confusing. The space does not work well when the restaurant is crowded, like during weekday lunch. There is a small hallway that you must wait in for your sandwich/salads/pizza and it makes it difficult to get to the cashier after your order is ready. I love their food, I just wish this location had more space for when there is a long line.

Have not had a reason to dislike the place. The food is consistent, tasty, and fairly priced compared to the rest of Midtown selections. I typically order the Tandoori Chicken sandwich(wheat) or the Tuscan Chicken sandwich. Both are savory and work out to fewer than 650 calories. You also get a choice of complementary carrots or chips. A staple go-to spot for me.

Staff gets 5 stars, food gets 3.5, layout of store gets 2. Excellent alternative to the expensive options in the Roosevelt Hotel. The food is different. I don’t think their signature bread is anything to shout about, but it’s decent. I actually had the stuffed portabella for dinner, and it was surprisingly good. Came with veggies and rice. They gave me bread on the side but I didn’t finish it. Maybe some garlic and butter would be better. Plain, not so much. The mojito lemonade drink was good. My kid had a pbj on Cosi bread and liked it. They gave her a milk and baby carrots and she was stoked. The next time we ate there it was for breakfast. They make bagels out of their bread, and again, with cream cheese and jam it was fine. I had an omelette sandwich on a croissant. It was just egg, spinach, and a nice big slab of mozzarella. The layout is weird, like other reviewers have mentioned. It’s set up for entry from the building, not the street. From the street you have to go past the front counter, order your food(kind of missionary because it’s hard to form a line), then go back to the front counter to pay(one person working, also making coffees, very slow), then go back to the food counter when your food is ready, then go back past the front counter to exit. Since the place was full of hotel guests, none of us really knew where to go or what to do, and the passageway was too narrow for all the back and forth. They were definitely short staffed and could have used a dedicated coffee person next to the cashier. The employees were extremely friendly and helped everyone as efficiently as possible. No mistakes were made during the time I was there.

I popped in to shelter myself from last week’s cold weather for a few minutes and enjoy a breakfast wrap. The setup is a little weird — you have to order at one counter, walk across the building with a piece of paper, and return to original location to pick up food. Whatever. The wrap was about 4 $ and was okay… Nothing spectacular. I got about one egg, some spinach and cheese, much smaller than what I had imagined for basically .20 $ of ingredients, but again, whatever. It also tasted like it needed something. There was definitely much more tortilla than ingredients and this gave the impression of chewing on paper at some points. Not a terrible experience, but definitely not one that would send me rushing back here for lunch specials.

I think it’s one of the best places for breakfast. They make their own bread dough for all dishes. Their prices are the cheapest on the site.

I’ve been eating at COSi for over a decade and they have never disappointed me yet. I have tried pretty much everything they offer on the menu and having said that my favorite sandwich is the COSi club and my favorite hot sandwich is the Tuna Melt. Cosi always gets you in and out quick, the more people come in they rollout their paper order system where they take your order while you are online and by the time you get to the end your sandwich is already made and waiting for you to pickup and go pay. As far as breakfast goes, I have never been a fan of their breakfast offerings. They don’t strike me as a breakfast place and should not even offer it IMHO. This particular location offers clean bathrooms and a decent sized seating area. Dont forget to pickup the chips or carrots with your meal and enjoy.

Meh. I honestly feel like this Cosi gets by on the lunch time crowd alone. The workers here are really friendly and funny, but not serious at all. All the fucks were sold during breakfast. I ordered the take two(or something like that) which comes with half a sandwich and soup or salad. Honestly, I should’ve just gotten a whole sandwich. The Greek salad was the worst I’ve ever had, you can tell most of the ingredients aren’t fresh, especially the olives. The lines are long but move quickly during lunch hours but it’s not even worth it, this is my last resort lunch spot.

If there was an example of a Department of Health(DOH) violation waiting to happen, this Cosi location is definitely it. With the amount of patronage this location gets on a daily basis, it would be doubtful that this issue would even resonate with them. But here is hoping that Unilocal Power can bring some needed attention to this. Upon entry, this location was completely devoid of ventilation. It was 87 degrees in the restaurant with patrons crowded out the door waiting in line for salads and sandwiches. The bread makers and salad tossers were sweating profusely and were certainly not serving the customers with a welcoming attitude to say the least. My colleague and I felt bad enough to ignore an erroneous order just because the salad lady looked like she was sitting in a sauna. On top of that, one of the employees decided to shut the front entrance door! I wonder sometimes what goes through management’s head during times like this. Have they even considered what this type of room temperature can do to the food and ingredients? Later in the hour, I tried to enjoy my salad sitting in the outdoors. As I was about to devour my salad, I noticed that the mixed greens actually had chunks of dirt on it! It is either dirt or the greens were actually rotting! Needless to say, if the unreasonable temperatures do not lead to DOH violations, the lack of attention to cleanliness of their ingredients could surely cost this Cosi dearly. Stay away!
