A great Thursday nite upstairs with Gerry and Damien behind the bar. But people, please, no coming to an authentic Irish pub and drinking bud light!

Great stop! I was on a trip to NYC for the holidays and came here with friends. The atmosphere was fun, service great, and drinks flowed. A few friends ordered food and it looked pretty amazing. If I’m ever back in the city, and I can find the right Connolly’s, I’ll be back!

Although the service was a bit slow, the dishes were good and the fact they serve Smithwicks is just great.

Great location for pre or post theater. Solid food and quick service. I had the Tuna — good — I’d asked for rare and it was still pink and tasty. Friend had their Cobb salad and it was good. We both are all of our meal

Visited here for dinner one night while staying at the Hyatt Times Square. It’s very convenient as it is almost right next door to the hotel. Ordered a Gaelic burger, medium — which is served with fries, and a glass of water and a pint of an IPA I’ve never had before — the Gun Hill IPA(Gun Hill Brewing Co., Bronx, NY). IPA was average — I rated it 3.25 stars on Untappd. Gaelic burger was tasty, served with melted cheese, caramelized onions and Irish bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion, the fries were hot, crispy, and salted perfectly. Service was good. They also offer breakfast here mornings.

The waitress took our order and brought us our drinks. That’s it. We saw 2 other guys who brought us our apps and dinners. We were never offered refills or had any plates cleared. We had to ask the busboy to get our check. The food was so so service was TERRIBLE! We won’t be going back and definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

We’ve been looking for a good Irish pub since we moved here in June. Finally found one! The food was excellent. Beer and whisky list is great. Service is good. The noise level was a little loud(almost couldn’t have a conversation at the table). But is was the Friday before Christmas! Write up says not good for kids but our 3 year ordered off the kids menu and was just fine. Loved it!

They have food. It contains nutrients of some sort I’m assuming. But this crap is blaaaaaaaaaaaaaand. Don’t eat here.

Party of 10… All orders with fries were cold and over cooked. They immediately rectified the issue. Be aware soda is charged by the glass. Elevator to roof top if your handicapped. Definitely not my 1st choice for a restaurant.

Stopped in with family. Total of seven. Super friendly waitress and great service we ordered a wide variety and all was good. Owner or manger checked in with us for a quick chat. Prices fair considering location. Good choice since most food in this area are tourist traps. Will be back.

Great place for quick drinks and appetizers. Love the rooftop. Amazing hosts and servers. Not only they are fun and friendly, they are honest and reliable. Reason I said this is that I dropped my credit card on my way out. I noticed hours after, I called and they called back right away to confirm they have it. They saved the rest of my trip. Needed that card to go shopping the next day. Oh the prices are so reasonable. Love the chicken tenders!

This is only a review about the rooftop area. Decided to make a pit stop with some friends here on Columbus Day since the weather was fantastic and we wanted to be outside! The rooftop is pretty spacious and the décor consists of beer kegs made into tables, chairs, etc. It’s a pretty good outdoor spot for being in Midtown, but I did feel bad for one bartender having the run the whole area! I don’t think they were expecting so many customers that holiday.

The service was EXCELLENT and so was the food! We were welcomed and sat immediately upon arrival. The wait staff was very polite and nice, and it was nice to see them keeping busy working on their down time rather than standing around chatting about non work related subjects where we could hear them. Good kids! Food came quickly, and plates removed promptly.

Can’t miss the giant sign hanging from the restaurant. Wandered inside during a busy Thursday happy hour and found a few seats at bar. Nice Irish bartender put on the baseball game and took our order of mozzarella sticks and quesadilla. The quesadilla was the better of the two appetizers. It was grilled to a crispy perfection and stuffed with chicken and the usual ingredients, but just seemed to get better with each bite. Not much else to say, except the beers were cold and it was a good mix of people inside. A fine place for Happy Hour, plus it was $ 3 off appetizers I believe as well.

Great bartenders at this Irish pub right next to where we were staying at the Hotel St. James. Great service and food! Not too loud. We actually went here a few nights during our stay and received many drinks on the house. I don’t know if this is a common practice in NYC because it is our first time but I thought it was great. I guess this is their off season as well so that contributed to the lack of noise. We never went up stairs or to the roof, so I can’t speak to that. But if you stay at the Hotel St. James or somewhere nearby in midtown, it is a great place to drink!

We loved this place. Came here for drinks and dessert. The drinks were all good and the dessert — we went with the New York Cheesecake and it was delish!!! Also the French fries were cooked to perfection and the Philly cheese steak was finger licking good. I would recommend this place if you want some dang good Irish food. Our waitress had a cute accent because she was from Ireland, that made the experience even more fun.

We got a table right away, without reservation, even though we went during pre-theater time. The food was good for a pub, I enjoyed my All American Bacon Burger with fries. But the place is extremely loud, we were four of us and couldn’t have a conversation at all. As we left I realized that the waitress charged an extra coffee, and when I told her, she said there was nothing she could do about it. Typical attitude of the theater district waiters, who know that no matter what, there will always be tourists coming by and there’s no need to be nice or try to build a following.

Summary: Standard, run-of-the-mill pub in the Times Square area. Surprisingly not filled with tourists, or people at all during happy hour. The Drinks: The bartenders get brownie points for knowing what an Angry Moon is. Nuff said. Atmosphere: Surprisingly empty for happy hour time(circa 6:30) which is fine by me as happy hour is for networking and I need to hear the latest dish. Extra credit for being able to hear people talk. The Service: Irish bartenders who understand how to pour a beer properly(e.g. having enough head, letting a Guiness rest a bit before serving, etc). The Food: My coworker ordered the nachos which were pretty gross. The cheese seemed like crappy Velveeta or CheezWhiz. Definitely wouldn’t suggest those. I’m not sure about any of the other fare.

I stopped in for a late dinner on a girls night(Saturday) after seeing a show. As far as pub food goes, this place is great. It has the tavern feel to it and doesn’t disappoint. I ordered the shepherd’s pie and was convinced i’d never be able to finish it… I was wrong. Every bite was better than the last and I ended up wiping the plate clean. Great warn and filling meal if you want something heavy in your tummy! My friend ordered a cheeseburger and she was also pleased with her meal. She also ordered a lager and lime and while I don’t drink beer, she said she was impressed and that pubs rarely can pull the drink order off. They did here! Pros: Good food, convenient location for theater goers, open late, and seems to attract a mature crowd. Cons: Don’t have any… Their shepherd’s pie left my with a bias!

Connolly’s is located just a stone’s throw away from Times Square and a stone’s throw away from the big midtown office buildings on 6th Avenue. It’s makes for an interesting crowd which is a mixture of locals(i.e. suits) and tourists. I would say 70⁄30. This review is only based on one visit. I went after work and asked if there was a happy hour. There was not, but I was offered a small selection of $ 5 draft beers from the busy, yet friendly waitress. I chose the Connolly’s ale, which was nice and not too bitter and served in a true pint glass. As for food, Connolly’s offers a standard pub menu. I chose the chicken pot pie with came with a flaky and puffy crust which I crushed into the chicken gravy. It was a bit pricey, but for midtown, that’s standard. Connolly’s has two floors. There are bars with stools on both levels. We chose the upstairs seating area. I noticed that the lighting was excellent, even with the all wood décor. Also, the top 40 music playing in the background wasn’t turned up too high. For an after work midtown bar, it’s pretty good. My only concern is that if there are events happening, such as a big game, it can be really crowded because the space is long and narrow. In the final analysis, Connolly’s is pleasant and a good place to go to if you want to hang out with your friends after work and actually hear them.
