Came looking for the elotes esquites cart finally, after re-watching the Jackson Heights street food tour video from Serous Eats. Apparently he’s only there when the weather’s cooler.:( I thought– hay it’s Summer, almost corn season. I want a cup of fresh corn with mayo, chili, cheese, lime. Sadly the grilled corn girl said that he wasn’t there until it gets colder. Bought a grilled corn– it was pretty good. Am looking forward to finding an excuse to go out when the Fall/Winter comes.

Deliciously amazing churros that are practically made on the spot? Check. Can you smell them like 3 blocks away? Check. Sanitary food cart digs? Yep, as good as it’s gonna get — plus with the oil at that heat it would have to be some mutated bionic bacteria to survive. Pricing? FOURFOR A DOLLAR?! Beat that train ladies with your $ 1 for your 1 – 2 churros that aren’t freshly made and might not be warm. Friendly service? Check. Healthy for you? UGH. Too bad they’re not good for you :’(. Seriously though, if you’re ever in this part of the hood check out this cart — it’s usually in front of that Cricket Mobile place that used to be a MetroPCS before it moved a few doors down to a different space. Eat 1 though and share with friends ;-).

The freshest churros you’ve ever tasted! The lady squeezes the dough directly into the pool of oil below, the combination of which draws me in from over a block away. The result is warm, oily, crunchy greatness. And at 4 for $ 1, its a must buy. The cart isn’t always here, but will usually be around on certain weekdays and most weekends before 7PM, barring any cold or inclement weather. The cart recently expanded to include esquites and elotes, but I have yet to try them. There are also ziploc bags of watermelon and sliced mango, with the hot sauce and lemon juice on the side if you’re so inclined. Located directly in front of the Metro PCS on 83rd& Roosevelt. There are sometimes 2 other carts juxtaposed, so keep an eye out for the bright green sign.
