Digging the sexy tango music playing while we ate! I ordered the carnitas tacos and I was just wishing I had tried the chicken taco and the guys behind the counter heard me and hooked me with another one, no charge! The chicken tacos are def my favorite!!!

I decided to check this place out to see if they had Fish tacos. I’ve stopped in other days and they didn’t have it soooo… yeah! Just a personal note, I, think this place should work on décor for the restaurant. I think that is just as important as the food. Anyway, the young lady behind the counter was helpful and friendly. I got an order of fish tacos for take out. For 3 fish tacos, I didn’t receive a sauce or anything with them, and it costed me about $ 11. I tried the horchata, and in MY opinion, it was way too watery for my taste. It was sweet which was fine but too watery, so I elected to not get it. I felt like the fish tacos could have been a bit more moist, but the flavors were good. And the horchata will hopefully improve. For now, I give this place three stars. I will check in very soon.

Apparently their new policy is to not let the customers choose their own toppings. She just bagged up my steak bowl order without checking if I like cheese, tomato, guacamole, sour cream, etc. Those choices are very subjective. When she handed me the bag, I asked«Don’t I get to choose my own toppings?» She said«No, we moved the toppings to a different counter and we just give you the toppings based on your order.» The guys leaving the store as I entered were complaining about the sane thing. Terrible idea guys.

this was their second chance… the first time I came in and placed an order to go… Ordered the chicken tortilla soup with the tortillas on the side. «No problem» said the cashier. I also ordered one taco(as their three tacos are $ 8.04, i wanted to try them), and chips and guacamole. The soup came with the soggy tortillas already inside. They forgot to pack a spoon for the soup. They forgot to pack the chips and guacamole. Pretty bad, eh? Not until you try their aforementioned chicken tortilla soup… it’s more like leftover crap and add grease to it! Today, I ordered the tacos and tried their rice and beans. I can honestly say that«rice and beans» should not taste like«boiled rice» and flavorless beans. I finally got my spoon though… doesn’t everybody eat their rice and beans with a spoon? good luck to you guys, but I won’t bother spending my money there again.

I’ve been by Choza Taqueria several times for lunch. I love their three taco combos so I can get the Carne Asada, Pollo and Carnitas Tacos. Be sure to add the pickled carrots. Yum! Their burritos are also excellent and I usually have to eat it them in two seatings. But what I really love at Choza Taqueria are there breakfast tamales with the poached eggs. The serve this delightful dish from 7am — 11 am.

Overall: went during lunch hour on a weekday and ordered a bowl. The rice was very dry and I know I shouldn’t be comparing but the portion is smaller than a bowl at Chipotle Things I thought were meh: — Taste: was okay but I wouldn’t order a bowl again because the rice was«dry», meaning it’s been out for some time(maybe because I went there during the end of lunch hours and they stopped cooking more rice?) — Price: about 1 dollar difference for bowl compared to Chipotle, and as a consumer, I keep comparing because it’s only 1 or 2 blocks away from here — Could be a plausible option if you’re sick of having Chipotle since it’s everywhere

I come here for lunch from time to time with coworkers. It gets really crowded after like 12:15PM so I recommend coming around early 12:00PM. I do think it’s a little overpriced for what they’re serving. The food is just okay, not amazing, and the portions are not that great. As you can see in my picture, my take-out tray is barely full and that cost me $ 10.75. I think I’ll just take my money back to Chipotle…

I order from this place often and absolutely love it. For a ‘Fancy taco’ the prices are pretty reasonable compared to other places in the city. The food is good an refreshing and the delivery is VERY fast. Its my goto Taco joint

Ya know, I wanted to RIP this place after I paid over $ 10 for a torta… but it actually tasted pretty decent. I think most people could swallow their price points if they added a little extra, like some chips or something. – They have no onions either… which is strange for a mexican restaurant.

Why yes I do fancy a taco. Thank you. Came into this place with some friends. I had the steak tacos. One friend has the pork tacos. The other one went with the burrito. I was surrounded my mm. Mm. Mms. Talking was kept to a minimum. I definitely enjoyed this place. They also had this pineapple water juice drink thing. And horchata… I didn’t know which one I wanted so I tried both. Both were equally amazing. And I think if I see them again i would have to get both. Again.

Ordered a chorizo burrito through Stadium. It was a fat ass burrito filled with rice, beans and meat. It tasted more like a mishmash of flavors, and I couldn’t really pick out the chorizo flavor, but it was nothing if not filling. I think I’d prefer Chipotle, but it’s a decent alternative.

This place is bland and over priced. It is so close to my office though, that if I’m desperate for a burrito, i will submit. I give them 2 stars bc, their Tortas are somewhat acceptable. Basically, go in a pinch, but don’t be lazy, just walk a bit further to a better place.

I don’t normally enjoy Mexican food because they tend to be a bit too heavy for my liking, but I do crave it, I go to Choza Taqueria! I have gotten both the Tortas(sandwich) and burritos, and both were delicious and filling without being too rich! Tortas is basically Mexican sandwich with all the delicious toppings pressed between telera roll. The bread is smothered with black bean paste, chili cream, and guacamole with lettuce and cheese. I really like the Garbanzo Y Hongos, which is sauteed chickpeas and mushrooms with crema, salsa negra, and more avocado. All the dynamic flavors balance well together to create an explosion of deliciousness in your mouth. I have also had the Chorizo Burrito. Spicy Mexican pork slachicha, poblano, onion, rajas, salsa mancha, and fresh cheese is wrapped inside flour tortilla with black beans, rice, pico de gallo, and fresh cilantro. I wish they would grill the burrito to make it even tastier, but it was still delicious!

MAN. I really wanted to love Choza, I really did. My coworkers rave about it all the time and I usually accompany them here and end up getting a sandwich or something elsewhere. Today they did it again and today, I decided, would be the day that I finally ate something here. I ordered their chicken burrito. Upon unwrapping this sucker, I was a bit taken aback at how much smaller/less thick it was than its neighborhood competitors(Chipotle and the Calexico food truck on Broadway) and this was WITHMEASKINGFOREXTRARICE. Two medium-sized spoonfuls does a burrito not make. I didn’t want to judge by size at all(that’s what she said… lol #ThatWilNeverGetOld) and I thought maybe that the delicious flavors of supposedly marinated and pulled chicken roasted with citrus, Mexican oregano, charred pineapple, buttermilk, tomatillo salsa and queso fresco would punch me in the face. Surely although this $ 9.25 burrito was small, it would be fierce — right? RIGHT?! Nope. Wrong. Instead it was actually the most disappointing burrito I’ve ever had in my life. Let’s begin by dissecting el burrito shall we? My burrito consisted of pollo(Chicken), white rice, black beans, cilantro, queso fresco(powered white cheese), sour crème, some green sauce that thankfully wasn’t spicy and I used about 3 packets of Cholula sauce to give it some much needed flavor. Chicken — So painfully bland and kind of dry(see picture and feel free to compare with my pic from Calexico’s magical burrito: ). A little adobo(or salt) and black pepper would have worked wonders. WONDERS. Oh and lime. LIME. ONTHECHICKEN. Something. Anything. There was also barely any chicken and I was disappointed, until I realized it wasn’t that great. So many sighs. White /Black Beans — Tap water has more complex flavors than their rice and beans does. I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as my mom, grandma and I make it, but c’mob! To everyone claiming that Choza is more authentic than Chipotle, at least Chipotle’s black beans and rice tastes significantly better. Hooray for lime. Such a simple ingredient that can cause an explosion of flavor. FLAAAAAAVOR. Cilantro — This was probably the best part of the burrito. It was fresh, flavorful and I’m thankful that I also asked for extra of this because it was sorely needed. Queso fresco /sour cream — It bound all together into sour creamy cheesy saucy goodness. It was good. Can’t really go wrong with cheese and sour cream. So portion was not good, burrito ingredients ratio was not good, flavors were disappointing, overpriced considering what it was(and what it was not.). This was all around a 2 star experience, I’m giving them 3 stars because the staff was friendly, efficient and they have so much Choula here — original and garlic chili(the green one) in bottled and individual packet form, They also have a good breakfast menu and a nice selection of Jarritos(Mexican sodas). Both of those things are full of flavor. I would return here with coworkers for the walk, but I’ll probably never eat here again. Go to Calexico — they beat Choza AND Chipotle(whom I don’t mind) by miles.

If you love Mexican food and are craving for some good stuff, please look elsewhere. I was thoroughly disappointed with the tacos I ordered. There’s nothing Mexican about this place. The food is exceptionally bland, the combinations are totally off. Here’s a tip for the business owner: Who puts boiled potatoes in tacos? That’s not Mexican for starters and it tastes ridiculous with other ingredients.

I’m definitely giving Choza another shot. Today was solid but missing a few things. I got two grilled fish and one shrimp taco for $ 11.25 after tax. I know literally nothing about the costs that go in to these, but it felt high to me – granted, I’m used to fish tacos in SF that are much cheaper. Besides my price quibbling, I was pretty happy. The fish tacos had great flavor and came with a crema which really stood out. The fish itself was meaty and nice. The shrimp were less impressive. There was a nice dollop of avocado on top, but the sauce was a little bitter and the veggies a bit oily. The tiny bay-shrimp weren’t really much of anything and just dissolved in my mouth. I think the shrimp came with a $ 2 premium, so maybe if I just get three fish tacos next time I’ll be able to get my bill below $ 10. The only other minor problem was that when I was done with all three tacos I was still hungry. You shouldn’t pay $ 11 for lunch and still be hungry. If they just threw in some chips or rice & beans, maybe that would have done the trick. But they didn’t.

I usually love this place, but had a really crappy experience today. I’m super hungover and was really looking forward to getting a Breakfast Burrito on the way to work. The guy working the line had absolutely no idea what he was doing. He barely warmed up the tortilla and it was literally cold when I ate it, even though it was filled with warm toppings. He totally skimped on all the ingredients too, hardly gave me any egg or potatoes. He must be the one who cooked the potatoes because they were hard and way undercooked. I’m really pissed that I wasted my hungover, cheat meal on this crap.

This is one of the places in my work lunch rotation. Not because it’s so fantastic, or the service is so great. But because it’s easy and because I pretty much order the exact same thing every time. So disclaimer. I cannot comment on 98% of the menu. But if you want to know how the tamales and the guac and chips are, well they’re great! Not the most authentic or anything. But they are tasty and I have a new-found love for tamales, even slightly mediocre ones. Plus, it’s the right portion size for me, not too big, not too small. Well, except for the chips. You get a ton of chips. Not complaining though. One time I got their chicken tortilla soup. It’s good. You should try it.

This is a small, hole-in-the-wall, authentic, Chipotle-style Mexican restaurant next to Shorty’s on Madison Ave. They almost always have a pretty long line during the lunch rush, but it moves fairly fast. They’re similar to Chipotle in the sense that you can order either burritos, bowls, tacos, etc. and then you can pick your fix-ins — meat, cheese, sauces, veggies, etc. This placed used to be amazing the first few times I went there, but it seems recently, their quality has dropped slightly. I usually get the bowl, and it’s pretty filling and tasty because their rice and beans are tasty and authentic. I went about a week ago and just wasn’t pleased with the food as much as I have been in the past and the portions have also gotten smaller. They used to fill my bowl up with rice, beans, veggies, and sauces, but now they’re putting less in there. I honestly think they’ve just gotten too busy and they’re simply trying to move the line as quick as possible, but they had such a good thing going for them with their authenticity and service. But don’t get me wrong, the place is definitely still worth it to go to.
