I have never dined in at Chomp but when I was at NYU we used them to cater some events in our resident hall. They were incredibly accommodating, had great prices, and were always on time with high quality meals! I worked with Chomp repeatedly and couldn’t be happier.

Was my fav. late night spot quick delivery and good prices. But service has changed and dwindled.

Two friends and I were strolling the streets on a lazy comfortable afternoon window shopping and decided we were really hungry. After passing a bunch of major chain places like Subway and KFC, we walked up to Chomp, intrigued. One of my friends, who’s a bit more familiar with the area suggested heading in as he vouched for the sammies they sell here. I really didn’t expect much from this place. Stepping in off the street, it was really small, dimly lit, and looked like a hole-in-the-wall kind of place with outdoor grade school playground bench seating in the back. It was HOT in there. No A/C blasting, just a few wall-mounted fans oscillating as a means to cool the place down. The menu is rather extensive for a grab-n-go bite place. I finally decided on a pressed sandwich(can’t remember which one), but it was REALLY good. For how tasty the sandwich was, it was priced well. Though I may not be no hoity-toity Manhattan foodie, I thoroughly enjoyed Chomp for what it was. A quick-serve, tasty sandwich shop.

granted since i only get one thing i would feel kind of presumptuous if i gave an amazing or completely sucky review. thus, i am remaining rather neutral. i get a cinnamon raisin bagel with butter(my fav) here for ONEDOLLAR on my way to work when i haven’t grocery shopped and have no milk for my cereal in the morning. It is rather doughy and tasty. i appreciate it. the people that work here are really nice. they call me honey and sweetie without sounding condescending. it does seem like one of those hole in the wall delis though so i would be nervous to get anything else. is that wrong? it could be a cute mom and pop place but it isn’t. it’s just a hole in the wall deli with cheap bagels.

Ordered delivery from here last night. The asian flank steak appetizer was pretty tasty. I also ordered the chipotle burger. It was sub-par. The pickle slices that came with it tasted funky. The burger itself was over-cooked, also tasted funky, and made a pathetic attempt at actually filling out the bun. If you want to give someone a dinky burger, give them a dinky bun… maybe they won’t notice(SEE White Castle). However, when you put a dinky burger on a huge bun, it is virtually impossible to ignore those 6 bun-only bites that you take before you actually hit meat. The only thing«Chipotle» about the burger was the mayonnaise that it came with… which left a pretty nasty aftertaste for hours after the meal. It would be 1 Star if it weren’t for that appetizer. My girlfriend ordered some sort of chicken wrap that I took a bite of. It was much better than my burger, but that’s not sayin’ much.

The stars are for the all-day sausage egg and cheese sandwich that arrives with my iced coffee within twenty minutes when I’m hung over. The sandwich always arrives hot and cheesy, and the coffee is cold and delicious. Oh, but I’d never go inside. It looks sorta skanky, and anyway, I prefer to nurse my hangover from the comfort of my own bed.

$ 5 – 7 dollar quickie sandwich shop. I was working right across the street, so it was pure convenience that I found Chomp. The sandwiches are huge, in my opinion. I couldn’t finish the other half. I had the spicy tuna melt on toasted french bread. No complaints! I actually thought it was good.

I’ve tried two pressed sandwiches from here: the grilled chicken/pesto and the ham/pickle/honey mustard. neither was very good. I also got a look in the back, and it seemed pretty dirty. If you are craving a sandwich, the better bet is Bite, which is right down the street.

I have to admit, when I first saw the brochure I thought they were just another sandwich shop in the neighborhood. But really, Chomp is a little special. All their sandwiches are $ 5 or thereabouts and come toasty fresh. They’re all freshly made to order too. My turkey sandwich even had the turkey sliced on the spot(something lots of other places skimp on with slimy turkey results). The lady taking orders was cute and super friendly and engaged me in some nice chat, and even remembered me when I went back in. To top it off, the food was tasty! The only downside was the beef appetizer, but I’ve learned that sandwiches are the main reason to come here.

Their new location is not nearly as nice. The sandwichs have stumbled. Ingredients weakened. Not recommended. —— Chomp is a cute little sandwich shop. It’s decently priced(~$ 5/sandwich), the sandwiches are delicious and a little funky. I had some grilled chicken with avocado panini and my friend got the shrip-something sandwich. Both were very tasty. The people working there were super friendly and made sure we were comfortable. The décor is bland, but for a sandwich shop I don’t expect much else. I love sandwiches. Chomp loves making sandwiches. Ergo, I love Chomp. Update: Chomp did so well here they moved around the corner to 14th and 2nd. Why do I care about chomp so much to update this? That is the power of sandwiches.
