Terrible Seamless experience. I selected the Chicken Shawarma entrée on Seamless and then was prompted with a second menu that included 19 different ways the entrée could be prepared. Confused, I browsed through 19 options for a simple chicken shawarma meal and selected the flavor of hummus I wanted, erroneously assuming that I’d receive all of the ingredients in the meal I had selected. When the food arrived, I only received a bowl of chicken and hummus, not the diced beets, dried cranberries, thinly sliced red onions, sliced toasted almonds and tahini sauce that the Chicken Shawarma menu option promoted. When I called the restaurant, I was told that my selection on the sub-menu of 19 choices meant I could no longer receive the meal I actually intended to order. Very frustrating. Bad customer service. I expected to be offered a discount or coupon or refund or something. None of that happened. Their menu could be a LOT clearer. I’m disappointed because the food was decent; just not what I wanted.

I’m so disappointed. I use to be a big fan of Chickpea when it was located in the St. Mark’s location(before the franchising). I decided to try Chickpea after being away from New York for two years. The food is not as high quality as it use to be it seems. My falafels were unbelievably dry. The hummus was uninspiring and tasted like supermarket hummus. Very disappointing.

I asks the cashier for some suggestions and that didn’t go down very well. I couldn’t speak to the guy behind the counter about what I wanted! I didn’t want them to serve me and it end up not being what I wanted. I told him I wanted hummus and some side. I didn’t get any meat of falafel’s. I got hummus and rice and a pita and that was about 5 bucks! Not bad since I had enough for two days! Hummus last a while so I decided this was the best. I still like my spot on 42nd street; better service, better side choice, looks more cleaner and fresh food! The humus and rice wasn’t that bad BUT rice was bland. I needed the famous cucumber, mint, parley, and delicious flavor a with cous cous side(not sold here). Overall I wasn’t that happen! Couldn’t went to 55 Fulton and got more for my money and options! Not a fan!

I kept passing by this place. I never knew what this place serves. So finally I went to this place for lunch with my co-workers. This place serves Mediterranean food. I decided to order the falafel wrap. It tastes pretty good. You create your own wrap with vegetables such as carrots, chickpeas, red onions, and cucumbers. I like the hummus. They prepare a good size wrap. The location makes it ideal for people on the go. I found the service quick. Friendly service from the staff makes the atmosphere more pleasant. The place looks clean. The seating area feels spacious. I like the wall decoration: Very hip and classy. I will recommend this place to everyone.

Typical Fidi lunch spot… more fillers than you want, and couple pieces of meat thats been cooked prior. Fairly healthy choices with decent flavors, hence why I’m giving it 3 stars. But like most Fidi takeouts, its overpriced for what it is.

I come here for lunch all the time. If this type of food is your thing, you have to try this place out. Lots of options for vegetarians. If you go on their facebook page they post a coupon every week.

The baked fries here were burnt, dry, and flavorless. Waited a very long time for them, too. Not sure why it took them so long just to heat up fries. The place is kind of spacious for a falafel joint and clean and I would at least give them an extra star for that, but my food was so bad I just can’t. How do you get fries wrong? Blah.

I’m a bit surprised at the preponderance of meh reviews –I like this place quite a bit and once or twice per week I walk 6 blocks from my office to get here. I usually get a pocket w/chipotle hummus, original falafel and some of the non-premium fixins(e.g. carrots, cabbage, couscous), topped off with some tahini sauce. It’s tasty, filling and at least reasonably nutritious. I had chickplant rather than falafel once, that was good too. Granted you won’t get Michelin middle eastern food here, but at the price point this place is a go-to place for me.

Food is important. Money is important. So if you don’t have to, don’t waste your money on bad food. The falafel at Chickpea is terrible. Dry, mealy, and lacking flavor. I expected so much more considering their locations around the city. Their hummus on the other hand is quite good considering it’s a chain establishment. Guac is also passable. Overall, with Roti around the block and Hummus and Pita Co. so close, I can’t imagine why you’d come here, but if your stuck focus on their hummus and avoid those baked green lumps.

Worst felafel I’ve ever had. Dry and tasteless. Going to Zucatti Park next time. Build your own salad is a better option.

Chickpea is okay. It makes me feel a little better getting a fafafel here(just cause it’s baked not fried) rather than going to a street cart but you will definitely get more flavor off of a street falafel(what makes them for flavorful, I don’t wanna know…). Their wraps/pita pockets are okay, the plates are okay — but the food is generally just bland and nothing out of the ordinary. I probably won’t head back to this place again for lunch. It’s really just a place I go to when I didn’t bring lunch and it’s too cold to walk anywhere else. Once the weather gets better I’ll be heading across Zuccotti Park to get my falafel fix.

Blasé and boring! The hummus(I went with the roasted red pepper) was decent, but that was about the only good thing about my chicken shawarma pita pocket. My biggest issue, I think, was that everything had the same temperature — my meat, my veggies, my pita, my hummus were all just under room temperature. I think Chickpea can put in a little more effort — maybe toast the pitas and heat up the meat? Can’t see myself coming back when $ 8 can get me a better lunch(healthy or otherwise) elsewhere.

Really, it’s just not my type of food. It’s literally across the street from my office, so it’s a great place to grab something quick. My coworker got the build-your-own salad, and the ingredients look fresh. I saw that they had a breakfast skillet menu to get eggs on rolls and etc. I’ve never had it. Yesterday, I got a wrap with the Sharwalfel. Which is chicken and falafel half and half. Threw some butternut squash hummus on there and 3 other fresh veggie salads. It was good, no complaints. I am just not a fan of falafels or sharwalalalaleijrowiejroiwae. Now I know.

nice surprise for my lunch option. I had the original falafel in pita with cilantro avocado hummus, cucumbers, pickles and tomatoes. The pita was super soft and fluffy and I loved it. The falafel was baked and really nice and went well with the creamy hummus and all my toppings. I got both the tahini and the spicy sauce, but I would ask for less spicy sauce next time since my mouth was on fire at the end of the meal. Overall, it was super tasty and I would definitely order it again(but maybe with some crunchier toppings to balance all the softer ones.) I will be back!

Blaugh! Worst falafel I have ever tasted. I do not say this lightly. Chickpea’s falafel — crumby, flavorless, way too dense, and cold — just confirms the idea that things meant to be deep-fried need to stay deep-fried(another example: Baked Lays potato chips? madness). I got a hummus plate. The hummus looked great, but other than texturally, it was barely recognizable as hummus. Even the tahini plopped on top couldn’t save it. The pita that comes with the hummus plate was really a spongy, fully-leavened bread in a pita shape. :( Lunch rush, about 1pm, was surprisingly not too bad. Not returning here for chickpea-related foods though — try Alfanoose nearby, instead, for falafel. Chickpea also has a breakfast counter in the morning, but the wait is a bit long — go to Jubilee instead for basic egg sandwiches.

I like this place because it seems innovative, its like you pick up the idea of Chipotle and transform it for middle eastern stuff. and that’s what Chickpea is all about! I like the Hummus plate, which comes with a lot of hummus(options available), your choice of protein or Falafel, some other toppings, and then you get Pita. its perfect. Right options, right price. I’m gonna keep coming here! (One suggestion, it’d have been much better if the things which are expected to be hot were hot or nicely warm)
