I came here with my friend because our original dinner plans fell through and it is highly rated on Unilocal.I’m not sure if I came on an off-night but I was not impressed. We came around 7:30 and they had ran out of some of their menu items. Maybe those were the best and that’s why they ran out and we ended up ordering the items left over for good reason? We had the chicken and I thought it was a little dry. I could not taste a huge difference between their chicken and the rotisserie chicken I get elsewhere. I did enjoy their ratatouille, but not enough to elevate the whole experience. Décor is cute and the staff were chatty with some of the customers(I assume the regulars).

Went here after the gym with a friend. He ordered the chicken orgo soup and I had ordered the chicken Cesar sandwich. The soup didn’t contain much chicken for a medium and the chicken in the sandwich was pretty cold, but bearable. The chicken sandwich was very dry and so bland I had to add ketchup just for flavor to keep eating. The price is on the fair side. Good for a quick eat.

Best rotisserie chicken in midtown. Very tender, not fatty and with perfect seasoning. The ratatouille is also amazing!

Heard about this place by searching on Unilocal, and I happened to be in the area. The reviews looked amazing, and the pictures of food made my stomach growl… so I thought I couldn’t go wrong with the food. The prices also looked decent. HOWEVER…when I ordered the rotisserie chicken sandwich(a highly recommend menu item on Unilocal), the woman at the register rang me up and then realized they didn’t have anymore bread. That was fine, so then she offered me a rotisserie chicken bowl, which is basically the same thing, except without the bread(includes chicken, potatoes and gravy). I got my food to-go. When I opened the bowl at home I was very disappointed. There was barely 8 oz. of chicken… maybe a few, thin strips. The potatoes were well seasoned, but dry inside and thus had an unpleasant consistency to bite through. Also, there were A TON more potatoes then there was chicken… the ratio was wayyy off and very off-putting because it made them look like they were being super cheap and skimpy on the protein. Not a great way to attract or retain new customers. For a total of $ 12 including tax(apparently the bowl costs more than the sandwich), I WILLCERTAINLYNOTBEBACK. I can go to Chirpling Chicken for much more food, that is moist, tastes better, and has better proportions all around(for about $ 8). Sorry, I won’t be back, and I would never bring a friend here or recommend them to come.

Not seeing the justification for the huge raves after a lot of reviews, as their Quarter Rotisserie Chicken 1 $ 8.25 with Choice of Side: Ratatouille(V, GF) was basically a paper tray of slop that couldn’t handle the moisture and caved into the bag. The Best Carrot Cake«Ever» $ 4.95 was better than it bad to be, but they really need to learn where to place their punctuation.

This spot does one thing and it does it well and that’s rotisserie chicken. I can only comment on the sandwiches because that’s all I’ve ever gotten from here. The sandwiches are great. They have body to them. They come on these super crusty sub breads, which are pretty decent in size and stuffed with juicy rotisserie chicken. The kicker is this herbed aioli in the sandwiches. Honestly, I go there for the aioli with a side of sandwich. It’s that good. For the service, these people know how to run a shop. It’s a small place with three or four people working and sometimes it’s crowded but they never ever mess up your order and the wait is never long. It’s just a well-oiled machine. If you’re looking for a chicken sub in the midtown lunch scene, I can’t think of a better option than Chicken Provence.

Perfectly cooked rotisserie chicken available in salads, sandwiches rice bowls and creative daily specials. Super accommodating for dark meat lovers like me. Generous portions too. Mostly takeout, but a nice picnic table in front fits 6 – 8.

Went here Saturday night with my cousin. It was the best salad I have had in a long time. We also had chicken curry, so delicious! If I lived in New York, it would be my spot! the owner is sweet and kind.

Great place for rotisserie chicken! I don’t know of many like this around, so I would say this is a unique enough niche to warrant some attention. The place also feels and tastes homey — sort of a «mom’s cooking» style without any of the pretension you get at all the other hippie new overpriced healthy food establishments. Had the zucchini side-dish and tried the cauliflower, both really good options. if you’re in the area and you’re looking for a healthy cheap low-key option, don’t miss this place.

Yummy! Think higher-end Boston Market that takes a little while after you order. They don’t skimp on portions here. I always get either a quarter or half chicken(I ask for all dark, but somehow wind up with all white), and whatever the green veggies are. The chicken is always good… nothing that will knock you off your butt. But the veggies are great! The spinach is my fav, full of garlic and really a hearty part of the meal, rather than a side. I’ve also had delicious zucchini, which was stewed in fresh tomato and seasoned beautifully. I’m told the chicken meatballs also rock. I’m not a huge fan of the service, and I’d love a receipt so that I can see what I’m being charged. One table only — this is a take out joint. If you’re in a rush, be sure to call ahead, as I’ve always waited at least 5 – 10 minutes. Absolutely a regular place for me though for a healthier, non-salad lunch!

3.5 stars * Solid lunch spot with a large chicken menu. * Only have one table for 4 people so recommend picking up or delivery. * Although extremely messy, my Special Sandwich(minced chicken with honey dijon and coleslaw) was delicious and filling. Cons: * Due to all the Unilocal praise, I was excited to try the Baked Creamy Cauliflower but it was unfortunately overcooked, bland, and flavorless. Would not order again.

Had the quarter chicken with a side of spinach for lunch today as I had a huge breakfast. I have to say, holy moly, their chicken is friqqin amazing! I don’t eat any four-legged buddies and almost cut out chicken too. but living off a tofu-only diet was slowly eating away at my foodie soul and I had climb back on that chicken ride — which brought me to this place a while back. This is now my second time trying, and I have to say, both thumbs up! Kudos to you for the sheer amount provided and The seasoning is just so perfect — not salty, not overpowering, and not too peppery. I loved it. The price is right, and the signs on the menu for what’s gluten-free really hit a soft spot for me since now I have to go on a gluten-free diet. Will be returning time and time again :)

The great reviews likely set my expectations way too high. Or maybe the reviewers lack a sophisticated palate and thought a roasted chicken is something that exceeded their expectations. For a local joint the restaurant sure receives a lot of reviews from all over the country, Ohio, Missouri, Vegas… I can’t recall seeing this joint ever listed or reviewed anywhere as the a must-visit in any eating or guide. just sayin’ the 5 star ratings are sure fishy… Regardless, I ordered: 1) Chicken Sweet Curry Stew Meal(11.50) which is shredded chicken over brown rice. A bit dry, lacking in flavor look a bit like sad cafeteria lunch. 2) Whole Rotisserie Chicken with four sides(28.50) Maybe the chicken really do run around happy and free on a farm without getting injected by hormones and maybe they are getting massages and mani/pedis feeling super relaxed henceforth incurring this super premium price tag for their meat but I frankly found it to be somewhat mediocre. Not dry, not juicy, not well seasoned — just like the kind of chicken you can get at Fairway for $ 10. They never have the cauliflower side so they always sub that with a ratatouille. So underwhelmed. I would not recommend this place to anyone and would never order from here again.

I must’ve come in on an off day but I didn’t think the rotisserie chicken sandwich was all THAT. The seasoning on the chicken was spot on but my sandwich seemed too small and not juicy enough — I even ordered the spicy sauce but felt like the wet/dry ratio in the sandwich was off. there was too much bread and potato, or actually probably not enough chicken(compared to the pics I’ve seen on Unilocal) bc I usually love bread and potatoes. A little disappointed by this one since it was my first meal in nyc and I was expecting pure greatness! I’m not saying other reviewers are wrong about their experiences, but my particular sandwich that day deserved a solid 3 stars.

Perched just beyond the edge of the midtown office district, his place runs what appears to be a highly successful delivery operation. I stopped in around 8pm one night for dinner with a friend who is particularly devoted to both chicken and le creuset cookware so this place was definitely his jam. As you enter it’s clear this is a takeout spot, there’s a counter with the sides kept warm in large, lidded le creuset casserole dishes. A friendly French girl working the counter explained how the menu works: most people order a half or quarter chicken with 1 – 2 sides. Don’t count on luxurious seating here, there is one table for 4 and another bar-height table for a maximum of 2 people. I went with a quarter chicken with one side of ratatouille. I should have specifically asked for dark meat as I heard others request but the white meat was still delicious and moist. The ratatouille was ok, I would go with something else next time like the seasonal vegetable. Last night’s option was steamed spinach with some kind of cheese. I also tried the bean salad and the mashed potatoes but everything was a bit overcooked for my liking. To summarize, Chicken Provence is a healthy option for the area preparing very homemade-tasting simple sides with tasty chicken. I would stick to the chicken here and order from work or pick up takeout next time as I ended up awkwardly sharing the table for 4 with a couple of weird late-night characters on their way to the hospital…

Love this place. Always where I grab lunch when I’m working from home. I have only had their rotisseri chicken sandwich because, well, its fantastic. And why fix what aint broke? Thats my mentality anyways. One day maybe I will branch out for one of their other sandwiches or a salad or rice bowl. Oh, and I always order it spicy with cheese(+$ 1.25). The sandwich is a medley of rotisserie chicken, roasted potatoes, melted swiss cheese, and spicy harrissa on a baguette The baguette is soft and spongy inside so it soaks up all of those beautiful juices but doesn’t get soggy. Well done. Be wary of lunch time. Lines can get a bit long when the rush hits. But its worth it. Also, there’s only a few small tables inside so its better to grab-and-go.

Folks? Know this — Chicken Provence dished up one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Period. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Yes, it’s small, and yes, that means Chicken Provence can become truly chaotic come lunchtime, but even with a single picnic table for seating? Chicken Provence screams authentic. The mom and pop atmosphere here is fantastic, and you can very literally see the entire process irrespective of what you’re ordering. Sure, you might wait 15 or so minutes for your sandwich unless you call ahead, but in that time alone you’ll see how stacked Chicken Provence is on local regulars, and there’s a reason for that. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? It’s often difficult for me to justify a sandwich that forces me to shell over more than $ 10, and Chicken Provence’s Chicken Rotisserie baguette comes in at $ 9.75: it’s almost as if they know! As you can see by the picture, this is a substantial meal, and I was more than content at the end of it. Value. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? If there’s one thing I thought I knew, it was a good olé fashioned chicken sandwich, but I’d never had anything like this. We’ll start with my whole wheat baguette, which was as crunchy and wonderful as it was flavorful. Honestly? I could have eaten it plain, but fortunately I didn’t need to on account of the most succulent chicken and gravy combination I’ve ever had. Sorry mom, this put even the premium thanksgiving dinners to shame, and it even had the potatoes to boot! Bring cheese and a unique spicy Moroccan blend of peppers into the mix? Memorable, Wonderful, Marvelous. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Chicken Provence embodies everything I love about food — atmosphere, value, uniqueness, and at the end of the day: wonderful flavor. There’s nothing more I could have added to this experience, and I’d gladly come back every single day. Star Granted.

Between 3.5 — 4 star. I always wanted to try this place after reading all these rave reviews and finally got a chance to stop by today for lunch. Being a busy office worker in midtown I always look for a quick eat around my office where I dont have to wait in a massive line for half hour just to get my lunch. This place is pretty small with a southern french kitchen charm décor. I walked in and quickly placed my order for one chicken prevencal rice bowl and my order was ready in less than 5 mins!!! I really like the rice bowl, the chicken was seasoned perfectly and very juicy but not drenched in grease. I never had ratatouille before so I dont know how to judge but I like the ratatouille in the rice bowl. I was very full after eating the rice bowl but It did not feel heavy at all so it might be small for some people. I feel very jaded with the midtown lunch scene and I am very happy to find a new healthy eats in the area and excited to try the other items on their menu.

I’ve always said that customer service is what makes or breaks a restaurant in this city. The owners of Chicken Provence appears to think the same. After my less than awesome experience with their delivery last time, they contacted me within 24 hours and apologized profusely for what happened. It honestly wasn’t a huge deal as rudeness and disappointment is more the rule than the exception when it comes to food delivery in this city. Nevertheless, the owner/manager assured me that the rude employee would be dealt with and offered me a repeat delivery experience on their dime. How could I say no? This time, the delivery was again extremely timely, but the food was now organized into appropriate containers. All the sauces and juices portioned in their proper place. I tried the cheesy cauliflower this time which was mild, smooth, and creamy. The dark meat was delicious and even better than the white meat I had last time. Finally, the carrot cake was consistently mind-blowing. The gf likes her carrot cake dense and slathered with icing but personally I prefer lighter desserts with a more subtle sweetness. Impressed by their uncompromising dedication to customer service, I will most definitely be making a dine-in trip to their restaurant in the near future. Stay tuned for my update.
