Checkers

Stopped by Checkers because I was hit with a sudden craving for mozzarella sticks. They’re pretty much the poor man’s version of McDonald’s, with everything from burgers to fries to cheap milkshakes and cheap soft-​serve ice cream. I just needed a little snack at the moment, so mozzarella sticks were all I wanted. I’ve had food at Checkers before, and tastewise they’re pretty good, nothing fancy or distinguishing but it hits the spot.

Disgusting chicken sandwich … Made me sick today. Also waited for o er an hour for delivery. So gross I’m still sick after the whole day!!!. Never ever from here!

A bit overpriced compared to other locations. The food was hot and correct when the delivery guy brought it in though. So that’s something good to mention.

Soda-​machine (options! refills!) and French-​fries (seasoning! crunchy!) are really the only things I’ve enjoyed here, but everything is so affordable that it never really hurts to try something new. They are always running specials on chicken wings, hamburgers, fish sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, and none of these are particularly bad or especially good, but perhaps the hoards of noisy high-​schoolers carrying-​on may make it a little difficult to enjoy an actual meal here, so I’d stick with Fries & Sodas.

The food here is pretty standard fast food fare. The employees are for the most part professional and polite. The two stars is because it’s almost always dirty in the restaurant and for such a small space, it should be cleaner. And sometimes, there are people in their panhandling for money and rowdy high school kids who seem to have forgotten how to behave in public settings. It’ll do for a quick, cheap bite but if I can wait until I get home, I will.

going to tell Seamless to remove them … $ 16 for burger, fries, and soda. I could have had a cab deliver same thing from 5 guys for less $$ … the «Double Decker Burger With Cheese» … the $ 2 burger @ Macdonald’s … about the same size

Disgusting! $ 18 thrown away… fries are dry and old, the chicken end up in the garbage. Impossible to eat. I gagged as soon as I tasted it. Do not eat there, my dog wouldn’t eat that crap. Only thing that makes this place decent is the employees. They were polite. Otherwise it’s just pure disappointment.

Had the deep sea double combo. The fries and sandwich were pretty good but the fries were soggy and they didn’t give me any ketchup because they ran out of them. Ok… I was hungry but I won’t be back here

After contemplating where to go for lunch in the Financial District while undergoing an intense on-​the-​job training sessions, I opt for Checkers. Ahh. fast food to decline my health, specifically my liver but it savage my budget. My default Checkers order: spicy (mild without hot sauce) chicken sandwich and seasoned fries (no drink) $ 6.50. My order took less than two minutes to be fulfilled in good timing. Seating is ample for all the hungry Wall Street investors and movers and shakers of the financial realm. No drive-​in ordering at this metropolitan urban franchise Checkers. This location is no the suburbs.
Now that I ate my fill I can be the girl who wave the Checkers flag to start a high stakes car race.

Ate here a few times with no complaints. Enjoyed the discounted meals with the coupons they gave me outside the street. The ice cream is also a good value for the consistant quality compared to McDonalds.

Seriously I cant knock them. They are fast food. Do not do delivery though you will be totally shit out of luck!

I stopped by there with my mom to get something quick to eat. When it was my turn to order, the register lady «Tammy» didn’t greet me at all. She stood there with a blank face. No expression. It was weird, no «hello, welcome to Checkers» or «how can I take your order.» I waited 15 minutes for my food, I only ordered a shrimp box and wings box. The table was dirty. There were food sitting in the corner under a table.
The food was okay. Customer service could have been better.

I was already left with a bad impression from a Bedford-​Stuyvesant location, but opted to join my colleagues for an after-​work meal. The space was clean with a fair amount of seating. I don’t frequent fast food restaurants and was quickly reminded why when I glanced at the menu. Bacon, cheese, one or more beef patties… better off renaming the burgers as heart attacks. I opted for a healthier option, crispy chicken filet. What a joke! The combo which was $ 7 and change left me with a small sandwich (two buns, chicken filet, mayonnaise, and two pickles), seasoned fries which were salty but ok, and a large drink. I was impressed by their drink dispenser. It was a glance into the future with a vast number of drink options, even ginger ale, rather than the typical Hawaiian punch, Sprite, and Coca Cola. I even gave their funnel cake a try and for $ 1.49 I wasn’t expecting much. It was cake fit for a child, and mine of course was fried too long. Very crunchy and slightly covered in sugar that hardened along with the dough. Ick! Crazy good food NOT.

It is checkers it is a fast food place. they serve burgers, chicken strips, fries and random desserts. wplus shakes & they also have funnel cake. the French fries are seasoned and great but very greasy but again it’s fast food. they also have the best mozzarella sticks you’ll probably ever eat as well as a new item called grilled cheese sticks that are season like the fries. they have a soda machine with over a hundred choices of drinks. They have a good selection on their value menu as well as $ 3 meal deals. I always feel bad for thw cashier she seems to do it all here. Take orders, clean, take out the trash etc. And she seems to love her job while they have 3 or 4 people cooking together chilling. Smh

I give zero star. Do not order from here!!! I waited over 2.5 to hours. I called the store to check on the order they didn’t english properly and have no clue why I called. They wouldn’t even look at my order. They ruin both my nephews dinner. They can’t even confirm my order. I ask them to called the del guy, this indian rep can’t speak English so he has no clue how fix the problem.
When food came it was cold and burnt so we end up getting pizza downstair.
Hey Checker management you need to fire your delivery service.

I made an order through grub hub and it NEVER CAME! Grubhub associate called them, but he was put on hold. He could hear them laughing and joking but they wouldn’t speak to him. THEN HE GOT HUNG UP. He called again and they immediately put him on hold. He could hear them, but he got hung up again.
I’m quoting him.
” It honestly seems like they’re avoiding the issue. When I finally got through, which was on an unlisted number, they immediately put me on hold, but I just heard them talking and joking around the background the entire time. I’ve been trying to call back from a second unlisted number and it was ringing at first but not it’s just perpetually busy as if they’ve purposely taken the phone off the hook to avoid calls altogether. I’m really sorry about this.“

Well, checkers is a typical fast food chain restaurant. You come here to get food you can depend on that will taste exactly the same as the last time you had it.
I had the spicy chicken sandwich meal, I was absolutely starving after class and my girlfriend and I walked up here after school, the fries are seasoned which sets them apart from the other fast food chains around but it really is food that I would stop for if I’m dying of hunger. I will not lie when I tell you that I honestly do not think that any of the items on their menu are under like 1200 calories it’s almost amazing but that’s neither here not there…
They have tables and chairs if you want to stay and eat and chat, which I did and I appreciated the fact that there was an outlet at our table so I could charge my phone which was almost 100% DEAD.
Fast food in a hurry, they don’t take long to serve you and when you come in, you know precisely what you’re getting just as if you walked in a mcdonalds or BurgerK
However fries aside the food is nothing to call home about so hence the mediocre rating.

This place is disgusting. We only came here because we were freezing cold and needed something and it was the first sign we saw (mistake).
I kept it simple and order the spicy chicken sandwich. It was alright. It wasn’t Wendy’s but it sufficed. I also order the baconzilla cheese fries (mistake). These were a soggy mess. The «cheese» was some imitation nacho cheese sauce. The fries on their own were fine but any that had cheese were soggy. Stick with the regular fries and you’ll be fine.
The bathroom. Dear God, the bathroom. First off all, when I walked in it literally smelled like shit. Second, it was a filthy mess. Third, just as I was about to hover I realized there was no TP. Not even a square and certainly no extra rolls anywhere.
Steer clear!

The allure of colas and the novelty of going to a Checker’s made me walk into this shady looking establishment on Chambers Street. The crowd was not pretty. But I was there for the colas, not the eye candy. I had a Checker’s Burger which tasted very much like a Whooper. I also had a few boneless chicken fingers which were decent. Fitty cent extra for blue cheese. The young blonde woman behind the counter was great and provided service that far exceeded my expectations.
Overall my first experience at Checker’s was average. Maybe I ordered wrong, but I don’t think I will be back anytime soon.

I don’t know where Checkers originally came from, but I’m simply amazed at how many people were eating here during lunch. The calorie signage on the menu apparently doesn’t bother much of the patrons here.
Had the New Champ Cheeseburger and a Medium Fries was decent for fast food. The burger comes closest to a McDonald’s simply because of it’s mayo-​ketchup sauce, but the potato buns are a nice touch. Good veggie and the seasoned fries reminded me of Popeye’s chicken crunch back in the day Trans Fat was still legal.
If you need a burger fix, it’s not a bad place to try. Expect to spend around $ 7 for a meal.
