Great food. Great service. Friendly staff. Thai iced tea not the tastiest. The only thing is that they brought the check early before we were done and I always think that’s a little rude. But other than that every thing was great.

I will miss this restaurant, Charlie Mom was my second kitchen when I used to live around 11th street … I will surely miss the best«Tangerine Beef«& Diced chicken w/cashew nuts !

Sadly, after 32 years, Charlie Mom is no more, a victim of the massive rent increases many places are facing these days. I’m sure a TD Bank will be there shortly. If anyone knows who makes similar fried meat dumplings in the area, please do let me know.

Heard they were closing due to rent increase. This absolutely sucks! My kids love the place and the staff are just wonderful! First day of school meal, last day of school meal, anytime meal place. Might have been«modernized» Chinese food but it was tasty, fresh and everyone has always been kind and welcoming to my family. So sad.

Really solid Chinese food in an atmosphere that feels like you’re going somewhere that’s a neighborhood staple rather than a trendy new spot just angling to pass itself off as «Asian.» The lo mein and the chicken with cashew nuts are both delicious. And you’re sure to get friendly and fast service when dining in. Don’t be deceived from how things look when you approach the storefront, it actually has a huge back dining room. It feels a little tired back there, but also delightfully homey. You often see the neighborhood families in for a big group dinner. Haven’t done them for takeout yet, but I know that’s a huge chunk of their«bread and butter» of their business.

Just got takeout again after a long while. Think they have changed ownership. Food was mostly awful. Had a hankering for old, ordinary Shrimp and Lobster Sauce with Pork Fried Rice. Sounds pretty simple. Well, it stumped the lady at the counter. She couldn’t quite figure out why I didn’t want white rice to go along with the order. Got it home and the Fried Rice was amazingly awful. Gummy rice with no flavor and the roast pork little turds of nothing. The shrimp(baby ones that came with the lunch special) were tasty but the sauce was runny. And, no, I did not reheat it, which I know knocks out the cornstarch. All in all, not going back. $ 17.15 for this mess was way more than I expected to pay.

FOOD: is average for a Chinese restaurant. They do things all right, but not great. SERVICE: is above average. The staff is friendly and helpful. AMBIANCE: is clean and located on a busy corner in the West Village. VALUE: is below average as they are a little more expensive than they should be.

I am leaving 1 star after being harassed by their delivery guy. I hope management reads this and fires this delivery guy because he single handedly earned them this 1 star review while also losing my business. The guy shows up at my door and gives me receipt to sign. Apparently he didn’t like the tip I gave him, which was a very standard and reasonable tip for a delivery guy, and he rudely told me to give him more. I explained to him that a tip is a gratuity, and he should say thank you for it. Instead, he told me that if I didn’t give him more money, that he would make sure I could not order from this restaurant anymore. No need to make sure of that. I’ll never order again. I’ll take my business to Sammy’s Noodle which is right down the street and much better food anyway. Stay away!

Food: Very Good Service: Excellent Ambience: Good Last Saturday we came here for dinner after realizing that the wait at Umami Burger was too long so we decided to try them out. The wait was about 5 minutes and they sat us at a round table and brought out the green tea and the little cracker sticks with sweet sauce. The staff was all super friendly and fun and oddly all above 50 years old. We ordered Crab Rangoon’s, chicken dumplings steamed, chicken corn soup, shrimp lo mein, chicken fried rice, general Tao’s chicken, beef with spicy pepper sauce and shrimp in garlic sauce. Every thing with the exception of shrimp in garlic sauce was delicious, fresh and had crisp vegetables in them. Was there anything different or unique about them that set them apart from host of other good Chinese spots? No and normally I would have given them 3 stars but the staff was so funny and engaging to our party that I had to give them 4 star. Most definitely coming back

Charlie Mom has once again become my favorite NYC Chinese restaurant, after a hiatus of over 20 years during which I lived in California. I work in the Flushing, China Town, so I am surrounded by nothing but Chinese restaurants. Charlie Mom is far better than most of the Flushing stuff in terms of value, presenation, taste, and service. I am thrilled it remains the same great place I remember!

The veggie dumplings are green! Very exciting. My nephew got unlimited fortune cookies and crunchy noodles from the waiters so I think it will always be his favorite too.

This is the all time greatest Chinese restaurant. just a shame the 7 ace location went out. The dumplings and wonton soup is the best I’ve ever had and they make a special dish chicken with bean curd heaven in my mouth. Can’t wait for to go back soon.

Went there because I walk by everyday and I love Peking duck… While the Peking duck was great, the rest of the food was very ordinary take out Chinese greasy edibles. We ordered the duck for three, it comes with a soup and 3 side dishes served after the duck wraps. I had the egg drop soup, the texture was sort of off putting, but tasty. The soup is followed by duck wraps, delicious, 2 wraps per person and a duck leg. Then we had fried rice with shrimp and pork, it was okay. There was also a dish with veggies and shrimps, somewhat flavorless to be honest and a deep fried citrus beef. The beef was okay, but so thin that the frying made it very dry. Dessert was a traditional butter pecan ball of ice cream –wink– yum! I would go back only for the duck which was great, the rest of the food is not too good but it’s abundant. Peking duck is cool with friends and the evening was great regardless :) Staff was super sweet and very welcoming!

Nothing at all special about this Greenwhich Village institution. Mid-low quality Americanized Chinese food, that always upsets my stomach. I eat here sometimes when my boss treats(always appreciated) but it’s not such a good place. I’ve never eaten inside, I’ve had lots of takeout and delivery though. I think it’s over 40 years old so it has some sort of staying power with the ‘hood. I’d never go here on my own. There are better Chinese places nearby.
