This rating is mostly for the happy hour. I used to live in the area, and this is probably my favorite bar in Harlem. I usually avoid ordering sangria because it often tastes like juice with a splash of wine, but this place doesn’t skimp on the alcohol content. And $ 15 is such a steal. Bonus points for having happy hour every day of the week. The food is also pretty good, although some of the items are a bit pricey, and the kitchen can be slow sometimes. I would recommend the Jibaro, which has fried plantain pieces as the bread. The mofongo is also pretty good, although a bit overpriced. The place is smallish, but the décor is pretty nice. I’m a fan of brick walls, and they usually have local artwork up.

The most ideal neighborhood bar. every night is different — some nights there is live music, other nights are salsa nights, sometimes dancers, djs and other performers and sometimes it’s possible to have a quiet drink. Most evenings are pretty lively, and Clara is hands down the best mixologist in the city(she created the cocktail menu). A fun, friendly and cultured place with beautiful people from many different walks of life.

I thoroughly enjoy the Vieques Special drink along with a night of karaōke or Boutique di Bön Bön. This spot definitely has that Spanish, Latin vibe in Cam’s. The food is pretty good too — gotta give a plug to the bartenders, especially Manny!

Nice ambiance with latin music on the speakers, fairly quick service from the bartender and the fritters were not bad either. The only complaint is the only one that plagues mist bars. Mixed drinks are too darn expensive!

Is this the friendliest bar in New York? Maybe not, but it’s damn close. Every gender, ethnicity, and age you can name… all talking with each other, stopping at strangers tables… becoming strangers no more. Wow! In the midst of a neighborhood where you’d expect gentrification tensions to be high, this is the lose-your-hang-ups-and-have-a-drink place. The only thing that prevented 5 stars was that the DJ was a bit loud for my taste… I’m sure on a live music night, the extra star would have popped out. We had the full-on sample platter… all fried food and a bit pricey at $ 35. It was okay for 3 people. But don’t come here for the food, come for the atmosphere. You’ll leave with a smile… and who know who else! –Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers, a different bar every week.

Drink was bad I had the White sangria, and food was good. Bad service the waiter did not pay attention to us only to people who walked passed by the restaurant.

Ordered empanadas and their special of the day which was rice with angus beef and onions. I was not impressed. Empanadas were good but way too pricy. 2 for $ 10 is not a bargain. The special was the angus beef w/onions and rice and like I said before it was just ok. The positive I must say is the ambience, atmosphere, music and the Sangria. This spot is great for a date night because it’s different and interesting. It looks like they have local art on the walls which was cool. Never got the name of the waiter but he was new and didn’t know much. He was polite and didn’t engage much with us. I will come back to this spot if I’m around this neighborhood. I heard on Wednesdays they have old school nights and they have performances every now and then. Good spot overall.

You cannot go wrong with a visit to Camaradas. Talk about a spot full of character and culture. This place has been around for at least 10 years and it never disappoints. This smallish hole in the wall can be found PACKED on certain nights. From karaōke to live band nights you will have a great time. The food is pretty good here as well and they are always having drink specials. Friendly staff! You never know who will roll into this Harlem gem. Ive seens top musicians and actors roll through. Even parking on that side of town is not bad, well I guess depending on the night.

Cute«hole in the wall» bar. I would definitely call it a gem of east Harlem. Even though I didn’t eat the food here, I had to come and write a review for the great vibes and sangria. Whether you’re in the area or looking for a low key intimate setting, this is definitely the spot for you. The music is great, drinks are strong, sangria is delicious, and restrooms are clean and well lit:) Stop by and see for yourself!

Great sangria @ $ 15/pitcher at happy hour makes me very happy. The alcapurrias are not dependable, ranging from excellent to Salton Sea. However, the beef empanadas are dependably delicious. Appointments are tres local joint with a touch of Cheers, Latin style.
