C Town Supermarket

This is the closest supermarket to me, but I seldom go there. The only thing wrong with the place is that for some reason, they blast loud hip-​hop music, which makes the whole atmosphere obnoxious. There’s nothing like trying to remember whether you wanted milk or eggs while someone is yelling about bitches, hos and heifers over a loudspeaker. Seriously, whenever I’m in here, I feel like I have to leave as quickly as possible.
I have no idea why they think that’s what their customers want. Yes, they’re mostly black, but they’re also mostly old. Play some damned Temptations, ok? Make everybody happy.

C-​Town, like another reviewer has mentioned, is primarily set up in low-​income areas. Clearly, this does not pander to the whims of white, affluent Columbia students and the like who need specialty items, like… hormone-​free milk. This C-​Town has been consistently pleasant to shop in. Their selection is limited, but this comes with the territory of living in a low-​income neighborhood. Their employees are no better or worse to interact with than other supermarket I’ve dealt with and I would definitely go as far to say that their patrons are a lot more friendly. Their prices are unbeatable for Manhattan, though the quality of food isn’t as good as, say, Whole Foods or something. Still, you get what you pay for.
If you’re looking for a specialty market, my bourgeois friends, this is not for you.

A perfectly reasonable and inexpensive place to get canned goods, frozen foods, or paper towels/​toilet paper/​soap/​other dry goods if you don’t want to walk all the way to Fairway and want to do better than a bodega. The staff is reasonably friendly, too. But I wouldn’t bother trying to get produce or meat there unless I had a physical problem of some sort that prevented me from walking the 4 blocks to Fairway (and I say that after having bought meat and produce at this C-​Town).

This place is just down the street so thats nice. The prices are reasonable but their selection is not the greatest. Especially their veggies. Also like the last person said they arent the friendliest people there.

This store does not carry hormone free milk, so I don’t shop there. Also, the selection and quality of food is not nearly as good as the Met around the corner.

Has this C Town always been around? I’ve just noticed it recently.
It’s always good to have more grocery stores around. I need my fresh fruits all the time.
