This place is a gem! It’s located on the 14th floor of the Liberty hotel. It has both indoor and outdoor seats. The cocktails are delicious! They have some unique combinations. It’s a great bar for midtown location. I’d recommend it for dates, friends or coworker happy hour.

Decent place. Cocktails are fine — perhaps a little overpriced, but not majorly. The cheese platter we ordered came with stale saltine crackers — very disappointing, would not order food from here again. 2.5 stars overall.

Great atmosphere but a little noisier than expected. It was winter so I was able to check out the rooftop. The bartenders kept the drinks coming.

For a premium cocktail bar, the cocktails are subpar and don’t feel as crafted as their NYC rivals. Although they have fantastic service and an intimate quasi-rooftop setting with a warm fireplace. If you’re in the area stop in. If you’re looking for the best cocktails, try elsewhere.

A gem bar, hided as much possible from the crowd and the messiness of the area. Finding the entrance is not so easy, since the hotel has a tiny not much promoted door and signage, but you will soon discovered your search was for the best! When you step out the elevator you will jump in an Art Deco bar with two rooms and a balconies overlooking Madison Ave and the Public Library. The room on your left is cozier, with winter garden sofas. The room of your left is smaller, but charming with nice duo sofas. I have been here once in the summer, it’s a wonderful intimate option for dates or small group of friends. Cocktails are original and tasty, not too alcoholic, and bit excel expensive. $ 14 – 16. A glass of wine is almost the same, so I would suggest you the cocktails.

Our firm will NOT be hosting events here again. The amount of rigmarole and communications required to host an event here, only to have it cancelled unexpectedly despite all our guests showing up in the crowded lobby left a very sour taste on our mouths. About a week ago I had called and left a voicemail with the reservations desk to book an event. They did not reply, so I called several days later and spoke with Melissa Gelia to book the event. On our call I was made aware of the cancellation policies($ 25/per guest if we do not arrive), reserve with a credit card etc. On the day of the event, I received an email several hours before to confirm our table. I confirmed via email however I missed a call in the afternoon from them. Apparently missing this call led them to completely cancel our reservation with no further communication on their end. To top this off, when our guests arrived, the staff were rude and not understanding about the entire issue, simply stating ‘you did not confirm, we gave away your reservation’. They also did not believe I had received an email, which then showed them on my phone, but it wouldn’t have made a difference as there was no space. I have been very disheartened by the entire process and the waste of time spent organizing an event that had to be relocated. Shout out to Park Ave Tavern who were able to accommodate us VERY last minute and were friendly! Highly recommend.

Good midtown cocktail rooftop bar with good décor and exceptional classic drinks. Sit outside to enjoy a nice midtown summer cocktail.

It’s The Service Industry!!! Okay, first the good stuff. Appetizers were very nice. Focaccia pizza with prosciutto was very tasty and popcorn was really good as well. Both overpriced, though. Drinks were good as well. BUT, no clue as pertains to service. A very unhappy looking waitress came over to the table, did not introduce herself, did not smile, did not say hello, just stood there!!! Really, that’s acceptable now! And don’;t give me the, «This is NY, nonsense. I’m a NY’er and this doesn’t fly anywhere. The waitress perfunctorily took our order and through the entire experience, actually NEVER spoke to us, didn’t check on us, didn’t ask us how our food was and every time we needed her, which was only a time or two, we had to flag her down. Couldn’t find her to pay the check, so had to go to bar to pay it! Ridiculous! Then I noticed, the other cocktail waitresses looked miserable too. A shame because it’s a cute, cozy bar with some interesting drinks and food. Suggestion: Find better staff!

Absolutely love this place! So much I fact; I’m reluctant to share this gem with you for fear of over crowding. It’s so cozy and perfect for conversations and ambience. Take a date or a client. Perfection.

My company had our holiday party Monday night in the poetry garden and lucked out with 63 degree weather, and since it was attached to the outdoor terrace had the use of that too– it was really a nice touch. The place is pricey, especially for events since they do have a minimum of 20 people and charge you for an extra as an admin fee, but the room is the perfect size for that group and the food was tasty and the service was better than expected. Nobody was every lacking for a thing, thought the food was a tad slow. 4 hot and 2 cold Hors d’œuvre were passed every fifteen minutes, and though I think two should have been passed at a time due to the fact that they were bite sized and we were mostly a group of men, they were mostly really good(the lobster tartlet was a bit salty and the mushroom risotto was in too much dough it was overpowered). The bacon wrapped sirloin with gorgonzola was outstanding, as were the crab cakes and chicken parm sate. The 3 hour top shelf open bar was great, and we were never lacking for service. People had their choice of beer to McAllen… Everyone had a great time socializing– it was relaxed, fun and a beautiful room. I highly recommend for a small group holiday party– but a little tip: request up front 2 hors d’œuvre’s passed simultaneously.

The outdoor roof area is small but perfectly formed with seating benches to maximize the area, love fairy lights so was very happy to see them adoring the outside. Cocktails are interesting. But the nibbles are too expensive $ 10 for popcorn with a sprinkling of truffle oil… hmmm

Cute small bar at the top of the Library Hotel. It’s a cute theme since there is a library themed restaurant on the first floor. There is a discrete side elevator that takes you to this hidden bar. When the elevator doors open you are transported straight into another era with a bar and two rooms on either sides. The right side is loungy. The left side has both and indoor space and an enclosed patio area. Although larger parties could be accommodated, many of the seating is for 2 people. It’s kinda perfect for a casual spontaneous date. Drinks are very good with prices pretty standard for NYC, about $ 15 – 20. Service is good but sometimes you have to be a little aggressive about flagging down the cocktail waitress.

Bookmarks is the cutesy rooftop bar of the The Library Hotel. The drinks are really expensive, most of the drinks are more than 15 $, most rooftop bars do charge a premium. The cocktails are good. It’s a nice place to hang out with friends or even a date. The music is regular pop, they don’t pay attention to their music. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor. I prefer the outdoor seating. Not much of a view expect the midtown office buildings and partial view of the Empire State Building. The music is not too loud and you don’t have to scream to be heard.

Located on the 14th floor of the Library Hotel, this bar is a great spot to go with a small group or to meet someone for drinks. I tried a few cocktails including the Tequila Mockingbird(tequila, agave, lime juice, ginger) and the Hemingway(rum, lime juice, mint, champagne), none of which I loved. Despite this, I would return to the bar because of the atmosphere. It was busy without being crowded, with options to stand at high tables or sit in larger groups around benches and tables. They also didn’t have that trendy, trying-to-hard vibe that many rooftop bars seem to exude. Though I didn’t order any food, the flatbreads and popcorn seemed to be popular options. The service was a bit slow, but the bar was busy both inside and out so I expected that!

Great rooftop bar at 41/Madison in the Library hotel. Bookmarks is on the 14th floor and is then segmented into various sections. I like the green and scholarly vibe of the roof. There is a regular bar but you can also sit at a table and a waitress for take your order. Our waitress was very efficient. As for the drinks, there are specialty cocktails with fun author/book names like Tequila Mockingbird(okay drink but I prefer more salt on the rim) and Under the Mango Tree(mango martini that is not strong at all). Bathrooms are one level up but there is only a single room for each sex so there may be some wait. I would come again for the convenience of location(near my office) and green rooftop vibe but not for drinks. although if you know huge literary nerds, definitely take them here.

Cute little space for after-work drinks, however, be prepared to drop some $$. Drinks are pricey as are the appetizers. Limited menu, but the food we ordered was good, everything from the flatbread to the sliders. The fruity cocktails don’t have a lot of alcohol, so if you want to get your money’s worth, get a glass of wine or beer. Besides the library décor, the space wasn’t as exciting as I had hoped. The rooftop isn’t really outdoors, it’s covered by a glass roof. Very small, tight space and you have to go downstairs for a bathroom. Service was ok.

Book/library themed rooftop at the Boutique Library Hotel is an amazing, cozy quiet and quaint gem close to Grand Central; nestled /hidden quietly away from all the midtown busi-ness. Great for conversation with friends or a date. Wonderful themed drink list but I opted for their wonderfully made martini. Servers were friendly, attentive, professional and sophisticated in appearance and service. Definitely recommend this as a spot for a date or to meet friends where you can easily have conversation. And I will definitely go back soon.

The Library Hotel is a library themed hotel. Duh. It took me WAY too long to get that. But Bookmarks is the name of the bar they have on top. Came here for a brief meeting, followed by cocktail hour. For some reason, they didn’t have menus and the waitresses just had to try(and fail) to recite everything by memory. Had a decent whiskey cocktail. Can’t remember what else was in it except for a berry of some sort. The space is kind of limited. Not much room to move around and the bar in the middle right by the elevators gets cramped and has to serve the entire floor(at least three distinct event spaces). I guess it really does feel like a hotel bar. Maybe even a library themed hotel bar.

Amazing drinks. Unfortunately, we waited 40 minutes, if not an hour for the second drink. This was after our glasses were empty. Seriously? ITWASNOTCROWDEDORBUSY at all. Other patrons, yes. I saw our waitress texting for 10 min on her phone. AND, she came in the area and took other drink orders yet never stopped at our table. That qualifies for throwing her credibility & reliability of service out the window. We had to flag down our waitress for the next drink and another party had to go to the bar to ask the waitress for the check. In terms of service, wish I’d went to Raines not too far down the way instead.

This place gives me a nerdgasm. Creative cocktails with literary names combined with a lovely view and swanky atmosphere? Yeah, nerdgasm. Maybe it’s because my mommy was a librarian my whole life, but I’ve always just loved books. We’d go to the mall and I’d make a beeline for the bookstore, not leaving until she threatened to disown me. Now that I’m all grown up and have other grown-up tastes, I’ve experienced the following dilemma: You can’t really bring a book to most drink joints. You could try – but you’re not likely to get far without being kicked out or having some stranger interrupting you to ask what you’re reading and why. Bookmarks is a wonderful little sanctuary that permits both drink and literature. There needs to be more of these. Oh, and as far as drinks go, get The Pulitzer and Tequila Mockingbird. Mmmm, nerd-tastic!

Bookmarks NY: Manhattan: Midtown East 10pm Saturday 7th November 2014 Three Stars Located in the Library hotel, Bookmarks is aptly named rooftop bar serving up some inventive cocktails. The theme and the view was spectacular. We sat in the covered section but the New York moon was shining upon us. I had a hot cider cocktail with Apple Van Gogh Vodka(not particularly good brand). The Tequila Mockingbird and the Hemmingway were quite good. The Waitress was less than friendly and it felt like they wanted us to leave and so did after a single round of $ 15 drinks. Outside, a Hotel guest bumped into a girl in our party and an altercation occurred. No fist-a-cuffs occurred since the hotel security stepped in and apologized to both parties.
