I really would hate to do this but here it is — two star deduction from my previous experience. I mean the food speaks for itself. The customer service just adds on. The restaurant seriously lacks quality, dedication and respect for its consumers. I have no idea why they even run the business. Probably never coming back to the Manhattan location. If you’d like a 180 turnover on the dinning experience, please take my word for it and visit the Flushing location. From customer service to their pride in renovating and providing quality trendy/fusion food, it’s top notch. The Manhattan location is REALLY in need of training from the Flushing location.

I have been frequenting this place for a long while; ppl work there know us.(Yes, we are the couple that order pick ups always.) From today, I’m no longer a fan. I put an order for a pickup as usual and my husband made a trip to pick it up. Soon after, I realized something wasn’t right; I could tell the rice cakes were really frozen before; half the rice cakes started splitting… and the other mushy.(look at my photo; rice cakes were literally all shredding and splitting) This is not the problem. It’s ok that they have hiccups but what disappointed me was their awful attitude of handling my complaints. I called and explained the situation and this girl simply retorted saying there was nothing they could do about it, since that’s how they get the rice cakes delivered, frozen. I told her that it was never like this before and it was really way below the standard that I could not eat the food, she AGAIN said that everyone else was having the same quality; not just me. That’s when I realized that this convo was futile. I paid 36 dollars for my food and I know what it tastes like usually. Today, they had hiccups. I get that and I’m ok with it, but the way you guys treated me really made me rethink about ever going back there; never again. Restaurant business is not just about the food; it’s packaged with the service. You failed miserably on both today. *crossing out of the list*

I heard about this new restaurant from a coworker and read about the deadly dukbokki from Unilocal, which of course intrigued me. However, what really drove me into this place was my craving for instant ramen that day. Although the cafeteria up the block serves the same thing, I wanted to give Bob’s Lunch Box a try. Face it, how many of us still eat Shin Ramyun after college. Not many, but we would if we had the chance. Despite the warnings, I ordered the spicy ramen(with cheese on top of course) and my lips proceeded to double in size by the end of it. My friend on the other hand, ordered the chicken and rice dish, which really just tasted like a basic chicken teriyaki. I hate basic things. Although the quality of the food is not great here, I was able to satisfy my craving which is a plus in my book. I can assure you that I will not be eating spicy ramen again for a long time. I will be returning here for one reason only, to try the legendary dukbokki that I did not dare order during my last visit.

Ddukbboki is one of my favorite foods of all time. Cheese on ddukbboki was way too out-of-the box for me. I just ordered the first regular ddukbboki I saw on the menu. The ddukbboki was CRAZY spicy. It was the spiciest dish I think I’ve ever had in my life. We finished the entire plate, but we just kept saying how freaking spicy it was the whole time. The spice was so overwhelming that it took away from the taste. The actual dduk(rice cake) was super tasty and reminded me of the street carts. Odeng soup was so refreshing and delicious! Maybe one of the best odeng soup I’ve had in a long time.

I LOVEEEEITSOMUCH. Not as spicy as i expected. Thats why it lost 1 star. We got the spicest one and were ready to cry our asses off. But disappointingly it was a normal spicy korean ddukbokki. We got the spicest version of it but it didnt taste so spicy. The portions are REALLY small we got 5 piece of kimbap for 5 dollers. The ddukbokki it self was big tho so it was no biggie. The reason why i love it so much is because it taste exactly like how korean street food taste! Over all i loved it.

This restaurant on the first time here was delightful enough that it warranted me to return. I am throughly dissapointed that I did. First off, their menu was completely outdated and as a restaurant called«Bob’s Lunchbox» the idea of removing Lunchboxes from the menu seems quite ludicrous to me. It’s in the name. The lunchbox was the thing that made me want to return in the first place. Second, the wait staff paid no attention to us. It took an entire thirty minutes to be served water. I understand that it’s a busy time(we came during lunch), but not even being offered water was bad service. Third, when we called a waiter over to take our order, he wasn’t helpful with explaining menu options because there wasn’t any lunchboxes. We were willing to pay for all the components individually, and he didn’t know what we were saying. Honestly, not a place I will visit again until these matters are resolved.

This is Korean comfort food at it’s best. Decent prices, quick service & delicious quality. I came here multiple times since Bob’s first opened. I haven’t been disappointed w/anything yet. My fav go-to is the kimpap(small balls of soft rice rolled up & covered w/seasoned seaweed & bits of fried egg) By the way, they kid not about spicy. But ohhhh, it’s so good! Yum.

As a frequent K-town visitor, I was very excited at the prospect of a new restaurant on that street. I’ve been accustomed to the lunch specials at the other restaurants and enjoyed fast and professional service. My brother and I both ordered the spicy ramen here and I added and egg and dumplings. I was charged $ 2 for one egg dropped into the soup and another $ 2 for a total of two completely broken and overcooked dumplings. The ramen was expectedly instant and completely unfilling due to the small portion of the sides. The total was $ 12 for a mediocre bowl of instant ramen with fewer sides than I would get at a deli. Also, the instant ramen took about 20 minutes to arrive… The waitstaff seemed utterly clueless as they tried to give us the check before all of our food showed up. When we tried to explain, they asked if we still wanted our food… uh…yeah. Then our fried gyoza came out without sauce. When we asked for sauce, the dazed waiter poured in about the same amount contained in a Chinese food takeout soy packet. Is there a sauce drought? Food: Very mediocre — and a peek into the kitchen while you wait for the bathroom makes you lose your appetite Staff: Utterly clueless but very pretty to look at Overall: With all the other great restaurants in K-town that offers better taste and value, I am never ever coming back here.

I was casually walking to the train station as I passed this restaurant, and in the corner of my eye, I saw a dish with MELTED, GOOEY, STRINGYCHEESE being spooned out onto a plate. I knew I had to come here, because I absolutely LOVE cheese. It turns out that gooey, cheesy dish was the rice cake dish, and after reading some of the comments on how spicy this place can get I made sure to tell the waitress to keep the spice level on the low. After taking a bite, my mouth was feeling the heat and after eating a second rice cake, my lips started to feel the burn too. Overall, the rice cakes were too spicy for my tastes and I wish there was an even distribution of cheese. The top layer of rice cakes were on point with the cheese though. I ordered the fish katsu as well, which was alright and nothing exceptional. The menu wasn’t too extensive, so I’d just say that this restaurant is average. Come here if you love extremely spicy foods though!

Okay many places talk about it’s spicy this or spicy that. This place will make you sweat. For those who are squeemish with spice, tread carefully…(or go to the white washed places that cater to non-spice eaters down the block) We ordered the chicken bokeumtang. The service was quick and attentive(as I’m sure they’re used to refilling water on the regular). And I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this meal. I’ll certainly come to try this place again and try the rice cakes.

Mediocre bordering bad. Ddukbokki: It just wasn’t tasty. Definitely spicy, but lacked flavor. The cheese also didn’t melt in an appealing way, so it wasn’t incorporated into the dish. It just sat in clumps. They should have used shredded mozzarella scattered generously on the top so when stirred, it would mix into the dish uniformly. Rice balls: No seasoning at all in the rice it seemed like. Just plain white rice, rolled into balls with seaweed flakes layered on top. Soondae: What’s with the amount they give? It was almost embarrassing at how little they give and how small the pieces are. Dry Tempura/fried assortment of vegetables and squid: Too much batter so when you bite into it, most of it is just the crunchy deep fried batter. Not crispy, more like hard crunch. And whatever is inside was dry. Deep frying is supposed to seal the moisture in so not sure what happened there. Good thing I didn’t have high expectations, so can’t say I was disappointed.

This is a cute and new spot that’s worth trying for lunch! We had their soy egg rice and omelette fried rice, which were both pretty good, with nice sized portions. The service was great and quick as well, but I think it was because no one was really inside! Come check this place out!

Decided to go here for lunch today and got Set C from the menu, which included fishcake/odeng soup with two fishcake on a stick, 8 small pieces of soondae, and a bowl of assorted variety ddukbokki(in it was one egg, two small sausages, some vermicelli noodles that looked over cooked, a bunch of rice cake and fish cake) drenched in sauce and topped with cheese(yum!). The spice level here is crazy; I pretty much finished the jar of water they give you(and I had a tummy ache from the spicy food). Might come here again to try something else

Eh… nothing outstanding and definitely not worth it. I went it because I saw the grand opening sign and I thought oh let’s give this a try. Well I got the bento box special. Came with seaweed soup and my chicken bento box was alright. The chicken meat wasn’t even that warm. Everything was premade and just thrown in my box. Not a fan and won’t be back.

I came here for lunch on a Sunday with a few friends. I’d say the food is pretty decent — I got the kimchi fried rice, which was a little heavy on the kimchi, but still tasty. We had toppoki to share amongst the table, which had a really nice spicy sauce to it. I’d recommend this place for a quick casual bite. –L.

I will update this once I can grab a menu, but we had a great time at their grand opening! I don’t know a lot about Korean«snack» food, but it was quite delicious. We enjoyed kit #2 and a side of kimche fried rice with spam. The main dish in the kit was quite spicy. It also came with fish cakes and assortment of fried items. Give this place a shot! It was very busy on Thursday night. Reasonable prices and great service.(It could go up to five stars for me, but I might not be the expert on Korean food to put it there.)
