I was really excited to try this place out and I wasn’t amazed. When you first sit down they give you a crostini with duck liver mousse and a wine jelly. This was terrible! It leaves a disgusting taste in your mouth. The bread they give you are popovers. These are delicious. They are flaky and right out of the oven. They give you the recipe for it, which is a nice touch. For the main course we had the porterhouse. This is why I am giving 3 stars. The steak came in a cast iron pan which i think caused it to be overcooked. It was also served without any utensils to serve it with. When. I asked, the just gave me anothe fork. The steak was also dry. I was disappointed. The sides we tried were the mac and cheese and the truffled mashed potato. The sides were delicious. Because I was let down by the steak, we didnt try the dessert. Final thought: dont waste your money, nyc has amazing steakhouses.

This isn’t the hippest steakhouse in town, but it’s one of the best in my opinion. I love their steak, of course, but sometimes I go just to get drinks, appetizers, sides, and dessert! It’s a great way to taste some amazing food without breaking the bank by ordering a swanky steak. With that said, if you’re going to go all out, order the Porterhouse steak for 2. It’s plenty big and cooked to order(medium rare, yes, please). The only other entrées I’ve tried on my multiple visits include the short ribs and the salads – all very yummy. Note that last night when we went, it looks like they are now serving the short ribs with ½ of a lobster(probably a seasonal menu change). Yum! On this visit, Tony and I ordered the entrée Loster«Cobb» salad to split. We had hit up a party beforehand and weren’t super hungry. Plus, we didn’t want to have anything heavy like steak. I highly recommend this salad. Yummy! As for appetizers, all of them are scrumptious, with my favorites being the bacon(thick cut and topped w/chimichurri sauce; out of this world) and the tuna tartar w/avocado(served with homemade waffle potato chips to dip the tuna with; delicious). Also, a discussion of BLT is not complete without talking about their shareable sides! You really can’t go wrong w/any of them! My favorites include the Potatoes Gratin(OMG; but, it’s gotta be a cheat day), the Hen Of The Woods Wild Mushrooms(healthier but just as yummy), and the Brussels sprouts(w/bacon; again, yes, please). Finally, I must mention the desserts! You can’t go wrong with any of these either. The menu changes up every once and a while, but they always seem to have some kind of bread pudding. Last night, they featured a S’mores Bread Pudding, which we tried, and it was first rate! Highly recommended. As for service, you only get the best at BLT! ’nuff said!

My wife, her sister, and I decided to go to BLT Steak for lunch as we were in between doctor appointments. This was the second time we attempted to go their for lunch, as the first time was interrupted by NYC Health inspectors doing their routine inspection. We told the manager Ana we were looking forward to lunch there, as our first attempt was interrupted before we could even receive the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed lunch, and the staff was extremely polite and delighted that we decided to come back. Since it was lunch time I decided to have a burger, which was delicious, the burger presentation was top notch as well. My sister inlaw also had the burger, and my wife had the ribs with the macaroni and cheese. Everything was top notch, and we were happy that we decided to go to BLT Steak for lunch.

I fell in love with BLT Miami as you can see from my old reviews and it was about time to dine at BLTNY since it is couple blocks away from my work anyhow. Came here on a weekday night with a girlfriend dressed to the t and the place was packed. That is a good sign, so we got a beautiful booth at the corner which placed me very strategically in terms of been seen and people watching. Great ambiance made of well dressed clientele, murmur of conversations, mellow music and warm colors of dark wood and beige seats put you at ease as soon as you step in. We started off with blue point oysters and glass of champagne, then tuna tartar with glass of crisp Sauvignon then smoothly moved to Cowboy cut cooked medium rare with delicious glass of red that i do not even remember the name of. Oysters were top notch, very fresh, very juicy with dash of salt. Tuna tartar was amazing as well with meaty yet lean texture and refreshing flavors. Cowboy steak on a bone was very rich and juicy due to the think layer of fat and I think bone narrow from the bone itself? have no idea, just now that it was heavenly. I definitely cannot NOT mention their popovers, those are so delicious that they just melt in your mouth and I had to stop myself from eating too much of them since I would have skipped the entrée. I am typically not a wine person, I drink only champagne and lambrusco from the wine family. So i was a bit timid to say it to the sommelier, so he won’t laugh at my wine taste. However, once I told him about ti he made sure that my whites and reds will match as closely as possible with my favorite wines. Then, as if all of that food and wine goodness was not enough, there was David Burke at the scene. I was staring at him for good 15 minutes, then I was about to go and ask for a picture but my friend told me not to embarrass her so you will have to take my word for it. Bottom line, exceptional service-these guys now how to go above and beyond, great ambiance, amazing food and wine selection.

This is my favorite steakhouse –if not restaurant –in NYC. Everything is spot on. The noise level is louder than other places, but this I love as the music is upbeat. I love a tasty restaurant with a positive vibe… many times fine restaurants are so staid and boring. Make a reservation, arrive a bit early, and have a cocktail at the bar. The service is warm and inviting. Bring your appetite and get ready to experience some of the best food you’ve ever had. I always order the filet medium; it is cooked to perfection. I have tried other entrees, and they are equally as good, but I’m having steak at a steakhouse. I have yet to be disappointed.

Pros: — Popovers Were Excellent — Hangar Steak Was Very Good Cons: — Fries Were Bad Tips: Between the complimentary duck liver pâté, popovers, and mini-sweets, the entrée and sides were more than enough.

Service is good, steak is good, the place has nice ambiance and upscale people coming to dine Prices extremely high, 50 $ for steak. Be ready to get a high bill. But worth the experience

Thanksgiving dinner was fantastic. Popovers were phenomenal, Turkey and fixings were all delicious. Drinks, too, were fantastic as were the desserts. Service was friendly and professional. Annie was just wonderful. Being new to the neighborhood her welcoming attitude will bring us back for sure. Had a great time. Now we have a local Steak place!!!

I’m really torn on whether I should give them 3 or 4 stars — 3.5 would probably be more like it. Had dinner here for a party of 4 and the restaurant was packed on a Wednesday evening. The space is pleasant, very clean and modern, and it has a nice long bar in the front which would be great for drinks. They start off the meal with complimentary pâté mousse to spread on thin pieces of toast. This was absolutely delicious. Next came complimentary popovers for each person, basically a pastry puff with cheese in the dough. Delicious, but probably loaded with calories. This is what I ordered: Appetizer: tuna tartare — fresh and well balanced with avocado and soy sauce. Main: NY Strip — somewhat disappointing, and reason why I’m torn between a 3 and a 4. The steak comes out in a cast iron which I think further cooked the meat. So even though I ordered medium rare, it was almost medium. It was tasty, but not the best strip I’ve ever had. Sides: brussel sprouts were good, mash potatoes were standard, hen of woods mushrooms were great. Drinks: was drinking manhattans all night, perfect. Service was great and overall experience was very good. The place is pretty pricey though, a bit more than your normal NY steakhouse. The place had a lot of highs but the steak, the most important element, was slightly underwhelming.

I’ll keep this first line of short and sweet for the Unilocalers quickly looking for somewhere nearby: you can do better Let me just generally say that no matter who your patrons are, whether a business lunch or a group of homeless dudes who saved up and dressed up, if they are putting down the money in your restaurant they should most definitely be given the full service and be waited on at the level your prices imply. With the price of food(which I didn’t even find to be very hot when it came out) I had expected great service as well. I came here on a weeknight, about an hour and a half before closing, so it wasn’t overly packed nor loud. We received menus, chose the same thing for our meals, and were then informed that item wasn’t available — could have told us before! Though, the waitress seemed somewhat distracted the whole time; at least she was consistent. The service from the other waiters began great, with more than one keeping eyes on the tables. I understand that later in the evening some staff will leave and the restaurant will operate with reduced staff until closing, but service to your patrons should not suffer because of this. Our waitress went MIA, our water glasses ran empty, the dishes piled up. It was still well before closing time so it’s not like we were inconveniencing them with our patronage. Good try, BLT Steak. Keep dreaming about one of those Michelin stars…

Favorite part about this location, other than being right next to my NY office, has to be the service. The bartender Louie(Luis), has been there on all my evening excursions, and is fantastic. Grab the salmon or steak tartar, Mac n cheese, or stuffed mushrooms for a quick app. The steaks are relatively run-of-the-mill, but the pop-overs and wine selection make the visit worthwhile. The small, but fun open air lounge chairs also make this a great people watching spot for Happy Hour.

Kinda been dreaming about those popovers… My steak was less than memorable and the side dishes are about the size of something you would get out of an easy bake oven. That being said, the truffle mashed were really good, I just want more. Go for the steak salad if you’re stopping by for lunch. Get down on those popovers and order the Arnold Palmer as a refreshing beverage.

Ordered Hanger sided with creamed spinach, and a glass of red. Beef and spinach were not bad. But the wine was unsatisfying because it was not cool at all which made it kind of sour and disgusting. The usher was great and so thoughtful, but the waiter just did nothing. Generally, fine but nothing surprising. BTW: Unless you are starve to death, DONOT eat more than 1⁄3 of the free popover. At first, it’s just ordinary and nothing special. Besides, I only had half of it and that evil thing totally ruined my appetite that I could barely eat my steak and spinach when I only finished like 1⁄5 of them. It took me like forever to take each slice of steak just not to waste too much of it. So much pain! Maybe the popover can swell in my stomach?

This steak house has the best steaks in the city. The way they broil their meats is off the charts, we tried the wagyu topcap with the porterhouse and they were unbelievable. Also the most insane jumbo pop over you can find in town, they offer it to you complementary as well as a pâté mousse and toasts. What I really like, it’s that they serve their steaks in a heavy cast iron skillet, and you can slice your steak at your liking with the meat staying hot, also their classic side orders are very generous and can definitely feed two people. Service is very knowledgeable and staff is professional and amicable, they have a sommelier who is very helpful at making recommendations and their wine list list is plentiful on the high end side. Clientele is mostly suits and ties but surprisingly a fair amount of female diners. Location is in midtown east, so don’t expect any kind of trendy flair or fashionable young scene, it’s all about the business of devouring meat and drinking good wines at related dollars amount, accordingly…

BNO with the guys was quite a feast here as some classy gents such as my buds Dan C and Dave H joined me to partake in an evening of manly men steak consumption. Put on that suit and tie, grab a cocktail at the bar, sit down and order a steak, throw down the credit card, and enjoy life. The only thing missing was a good cigar. We did it right here and they took care of us. Great service, the food was on point, and atmosphere was sophisticated but not overly upscale and fussy. Nice scene at the bar with an affable bartender and cool tunes playing. Don’t heed the haters here, as it seems many of them would also whine about their burgers at White Castle not being good enough. Is it pricey? You bet! That’s what a steakhouse goes for in NYC. Deal with it and eat. That’s why you throw down the plastic and have at it. What can I say other then we picked out some great wines, my filet mignon was perfectly prepared, the sides such as grilled aparagus, mushroom caps, and mashed potatoes were just right, and the manager even came over to say hello and had some extra appetizers sent to our table complimentary. Now that’s what I call an epic meal. Great food, great conversation, great company, great fun. That’s what a BNO is all about. To eat loads of meat and talk about manly things without our gals being around for a night. Dat popover served up first tho. Dayum!

I’d like to start by saying that I usually go to BLT Prime for my fancy steak nights. My date made reservations at this restaurant. It was not at all the same. We were there about a month ago, at the end of March. We had reservations for 8pm, I believe. When we arrived however, the restaurant was PACKED. It was extremely crowded and very very noisy. Even though we were on time for our reservation, we still had to wait a bit for some other people with later reservations to be seated. I forgot to mention neither of us was wearing a suit, and we(or at least I) felt rather unwelcome. The staff was not smiling at us, the other patrons glanced with raised eyebrows… I’m sorry my department store dress and jewelry didn’t appease the bourgeoisie. We were seated in the very center of the dining area, Squished in between two other groups. It was loud and conversation was difficult. I was hoping to get some popovers, but they were not offered to us and I couldn’t make myself heard in the ruckus. The rest of the food was as great as always, but overall unenjoyable due to the glares from staff and patrons alike. If you aren’t wearing a suit or an evening gown, I would not recommend this place for a date night. A corporate outing would fit this restaurant very well.

My boyfriend took me here last night for a date night, and I can only say how amazing this place really is. The waiters are always there for you. Glasses are never empty. Décor is very nice as well. The food is just magnificent. Everyone should definitely try Pinot Noir, it’s to die for. Service is excellent and precise. Even though it’s pricey just like every other steak house, it was definitely worth it!

BLT — Bacon Lettuce and Tomato steak? A very unusual name for a steakhouse, but my wife wanted to try this place since she likes to investigate funny and odd things, that’s how she met me! We had a 830pm reservation for a Saturday evening, but still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. We checked our coats in and waited by the bar area. When we were finally seated I noticed the smaller cozier tables for two are spaced very close together, since it was already past 900pm the room was opening up and I noticed they skipped a table when seating couples, but when this place is packed, you are literally going to be on top of each other. We were greeted by «Holly» our server who was very friendly and immediately told us there were certain items the kitchen ran out of and took our drink orders. Now BLT is famous for their complimentary«Popovers» Do yourself a favor, unless youre really hungry the popovers are plenty as an appetizer. They are so addictively scrumptious it literally is difficult to put down! The popovers are made with gruyère cheese and once you break open that outer shell and get that whiff of steam from the popover, it’s all over, you end up filling yourself on this bread. As an appetizer we did order the bacon, but the bacon was a little too fat and chewy. The slices were very thin compared to other steakhouses. We ordered the 28 day aged porterhouse for 2 cooked medium with a side of creamed spinach and potato skins. The sides were smaller than I expected, the sides were OK. The steak arrived and looked delicious, now it was a good steak, but not a great steak in my opinion. There are better options out there for a Great steak at this price point. At the end of the meal they gave us some petit fours which were light and satisfying. We were so full that ordering dessert would had been a chore to eat and not gratifying, though I was tempted on several occasions. My excuse to cleanse our palettes with a crêpe fell on deaf ears. When the bill finally arrived, we noticed $ 26 dollars in drinks were added to our bill which we did not consume. Our server Holly quickly rectified the situation and apologized for the mix up. Remember, always check your bill carefully. In summary, a good place to have a steak, but for the price you pay here, you can go to other steakhouses to have a better steak for the same price.

I’ve been here numerous times, primarily for business lunches due to location convenience, easy to get a res and food consistency. I’ll never forget my first popover here at least 6 years back and gobbled the entire thing. Since then, I try to be good though I still usually can’t resist eating at least half especially the warm spongy inside with butter. My favorite item for lunch is the Lobster Cobb salad, which is a generous portion and I’d say is very reasonably priced for $ 23 considering a NYC lobster roll is ~$ 20 for about the same amount of meat. I like the chopped vegetable salad $ 14 with chicken +$ 4 as well. I enjoy a hearty salad and BLT knows how to make one. Steak ranges from $ 29-$ 57 per entrée which is city standard. Service is quick and efficient — you can always easily be in and out within an hour :)
