Not a fan, very similar to your franchises(starbucks’s, peets, coffee bean). Coffee wasn’t special, drinks were too milky. There are much better options in the city.

Just walked in right before they were about to close for Memorial Day weekend, and the barista was so kind and helpful. She answered all of my questions and made a yummy iced latte, my usual go to. She told me to come back at a normal time next time in order to get the full experience that Birch has to offer! I will be back!

My wife, friends, and I did a coffee crawl within just a few blocks of Birch Coffee, making this location our very first stop. We later went onto Bluestone Lane Collective Café. Two of us preferred our coffees there and myself and my Delaware friend preferred our lattes from Birch Coffee. This location of Birch Coffee also has a few seats to enjoy your coffee and several pastries including doughnuts from Brooklyn’s Dough. They also have a little library where you can borrow a good book as you sit and enjoy really quality coffee.

Great coffee, though it took forever(they’re on par with Blue Bottle waiting times here). I get it, though — it takes time for the good stuff. Anyway, I had a great skim latte and my friend liked her cortado.

Super small place. Would have liked to sit down for alittle but that was not possible. I got the hot chocolate since I’m not a coffee drinker and it was pretty good. I was able to drink it right away without any problems. Slightly expensive but I don’t really get to explore the mom and pop shops so often do I didn’t really mind. I’d go back if I was in the area

Sadly, I must retract my earlier review. After going here almost daily for over a year, I’ll never return. There seems to be some turnover in the staff and two in particular are always very heavy with the ice in the iced tea. They scoop it up to the top of the cup and there are only a few ounces of tea. So for the past few weeks I’ve ordered a large iced tea with«not too much ice». On this occasion the ambitious young man only poured to within an inch and a half of the top. When I asked if he could top it off, he informed me that because I ordered«light ice» that he couldn’t fill it up. If I actually believed that they had portion control protocols here, I would be a little more forgiving. But without pouring the tea before the ice, there’s no sure way to measure. I’m not a coffee shop owner, but I drink a lot of iced tea and I also make a lot of iced tea at home. My guess is that ice is more expensive than iced tea. I know for sure that the milk I topped it off with is more expensive than iced tea. So it’s really a flawed policy, if it is indeed a policy, but I suspect it was just the cranky kid at the end of a shift. And also, why argue with a regular over 20 cents of tea when I just tipped you 50 cents?

Whoops, was the barista in the back using the restroom? Funny how they took our order, but there was nobody there to make it. Had a cute, strong americano as well as a bit of a cortado. Excellent and cute coffeeshop in a busy area. Definitely come check it out for a good coffee in all the various forms. Cool little library to boot, but no time to sit down and read. If you do sit though, you can people watch in the streets while you sip on your lovely beverage of choice. Check it out.

Location: I have been here at least 10 times. I become less and less satisfied with Birch Coffee. First of all, it is small — three tables and long table with few seats, you have to lose your privacy and share space with random person. Sometimes, it is just not comfortable, at least for me. Secondly, they do not have wifi. I do not know why I did not ask if they have wifi before. I guess it was because I always just grabbed coffee here instead of … actually sitting in. Yeah, no wifi, Birch coffee basically does not want you to be here long. Last, the decoration is very hippie tho. Coffee: Latte is a good start if you first come here. But do not ever order their drip coffee. It is lousy, bad and I wanna throw it right away after my first sip. In addition, no almond milk. Ask milk and then will give it to you some… Bad, and over time disappointed.

Overpriced. That is all that needs to be said but since Unilocal won’t let me be succinct in my reviews I have to blah, blah, blah on.

Hellooooo cinnamon sugar donut from heaven!!! Tasty coffee to boot, and very cozy décor inside. Feels like I’m back home at my local coffee shop/café.

Homemade pop tart(aka Megpies($ 4) on the menu)! Go Blueberry! And cold brew on tap!

Birch risks feeling pretentious with a tiny area and fairly high prices, but the friendly staff makes it feel more human. There are only three small tables inside and some room at the bar, but not restroom. The coffee is solid, about what you’d get at Stumptown, not as good as Blue Bottle. The water jug inside is nice though as I tend to get dehydrated with coffee pretty easily.

Really fun little neighborhood coffee shop. Not the most comfortable place to sit and chat, but a great interior. Their coffee is excellent, and the prices are at the lower end of the premium coffee shop segment. I wouldn’t say it’s the best of the best(for some reason I think happy bones and joe are the best) but very, very good.

Birch is a nice place to grab a richly flavored drink and chat for a bit. I usually order a soy hot chocolate over ice, which has just the right amount of sweetness. I don’t know why it costs 50 cents more to make this drink iced, though. Also, the banana chocolate chip muffin is a scrumptious treat: moist and hearty. The non-food related aspects of this coffee shop are nice: the baristas are friendly and approachable, the ambiance is casual and relaxed, and there are even conversation starters stored along the wall for people to interact with one another. This isn’t necessarily a place to do extensive laptop work or reading, and if you do want to go on the internet, you can do so for 30 minutes at a time by asking for a WiFi code for their Social WiFi network. The absence of a bathroom is a drawback to this place, and it’s a big reason not to stay at Birch for too long.

Awesome little coffee shop in the West Village! I had some time to spare before meeting my boyfriend for lunch, so I made the walk over to grab a cup of joe. I got a small iced latte… wow, that’s some strong coffee! It was delicious and really hit the spot since it was so hot out. The interior is cozy. There are maybe 3 – 4 tables if you’re here with friends. There’s also 3 – 4 counter seats that look out of the widow towards the street. Great spot to grab a coffee and breakfast pastries!

Really great coffee. Expensive but good. They charge 50 cents for iced coffee which seems totally miserable since it’s tap water and ice! The americano is a must because they have La Marzocco espresso machine and it tastes awesome.

Very small café. Seats maybe 10 people(window bar and 3 tables). If you do manage to grab a table, they are pretty big, enough to lay out your notes and laptop with space. I got a chai latte and it was on the lighter side. *Wifi is limited to 30 minutes with purchase. So this isn’t an ideal study space if you need internet.

Pretentious Brooklyn meets tiny Manhattan: a lovely combination. The coffee is quite good. The decaf is quite strong — I wonder if it actually has a good bit of caffeine. Prices are absurd. $ 3.75 for a small latte, plus 50 cents for iced. Really? Ice displaces a large portion of the coffee, making it cheaper for them to make. Lousy policy. The place is small, but not so small as to be to-go only. Capacity is nine people. There are three small tables, each with two barstools, as well as a window bar with three barstools. The barstools are uncomfortable, because you can’t rest your feet, and I don’t know why they do them. The staff are nice. The barista actually asked how I was. They keep their menu simple and use Helvetica. Nice alternative to the gaudy Starbucks menu. Most problematically, they don’t have a restroom! Caffeine tends to make trips more frequent and urgent, making it particularly unfortunate. I don’t generally care enough about coffee to make this excursion worthwhile.

We both got a small drip coffee there yesterday evening($ 2.50/each), and the coffee was very weak & tasted really watered-down. The two guys working there were *exceptionally* nice, but the coffee was lousy… It’s a tiny place, with seating for just a few people.

This place is the best. I used to hate hemp milk because it tastes like. Cloth but I tried a flat white with hemp milk here and it is now my favorite coffee. The stuff is really friendly and even when it’s packed in the morning, they do a good job with the timing. They also spell my name right most of the time I do still wish that they had almond milk but I guess hemp will suffice.
