Aileen and team at Bikini Bar gave us the hands down most beautiful spot to host a Tropical Paradise theme baby shower. The baked goods were some of the best we have ever eaten and the coffee was on point as well. There are fewer and fewer unique spots like this in NYC so highly encourage you to use it for an event or even pop by for a cup of tea. Must see to believe!

Save your self a disappointment. Clearly the owners are trying to rely on theme rather than product or service. This coffee shop and bikini bar has mediocre food and drink and staff who are impolite and indifferent. Perhaps their lease is cheap but the place is always empty(no surprise). How they survive is a mystery. I will not be back.

I was really excited to try this place since it is really close to work. Felt right at home! The menu is simple and to the point. I also found my dishes to be very tasty. Everyone that works here is very friendly and they work really fast! Waitress was very sweet and accommodating. You won’t be disappointed! Not too many food options however.

I don’t get this place. Ignore any«posted» hours. On websites, Unilocal, etc. It’s never open. I’ve tried now 3 times during which they are suppose to be open and nope. I’m done trying.

Bikini Bar is a tiki bar meets coffee shop. I know-random combination, but somehow it works. I walked in and noticed all the Hawaiian/surf/tiki themed items surrounding me. Surf boards everywhere. There was a lady with a parrot(not too sure what that was about, but I like it). When my friend arrived, we glanced at the menu over the counter. I was intrigued by the names(tiki-cino, Hawaiian coffee, etc.) I inquired about a few and I decided on the tiki-cino(made with espresso, coconut milk, and bitters). I was apprehensive about the bitters but the barista assured me it was a good combo(and he even offered to make me another drink if I didn’t like it). He was right. I LOVED it. My friend and I mozied upstairs where there was a comfortable, secluded seating area. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted surf movies playing in the background. I sipped my tiki-cino in bliss. Even the mug fit in with the theme(a tiki-face engrained porcelain mug). I was no longer in Tribeca, I was in Hawaii. Drinking my morning coffee and scoping out the waves. Knocked down 1 star only because it’s a tad pricey(my tiki-cino was $ 7) and there weren’t any food options(as far as I saw). Otherwise, a unique and delicious coffee shop.

I walked in, bracing myself for supermodels in bikinis serving martinis. Not quite. What a welcome oasis from the urban jungle! You feel like you left the city for a minute as you sit in a calm coffee bar with large surfboards, vintage movie props and Polynesian themed decorations.(And functional vintage pinball machines and jukebox). The macaw welcomes you as you sit and chat with the owner about her non slip surf wear bikinis and SUPing. The Tikiciano(coconut milk and espresso) was a rich jump start to my day. Love the illustrated menu.

Oh man do I love this place. I am only grateful it isn’t in my hood as I think I’d be broke. From the minute I walked in and ordered my delicious cold brew(with plastic mermaid attached) and chatted with the owner(originally from Hawaii and had a cockatoo on her shoulder I knew this place would be fantastic. It’s actually 2 levels both of which have seating and the space is huge. The bathroom happens to also be really big with coconut soap from Kiss My Face. But what truly sets this place apart is the vibe. They put a different accoutriment on everyone’s drinks and they don’t only serve coffee(I noticed there were some other drinks on the menu which is mostly pictures FYI :)). I feel like this is the first indication that the place serves up drinks with a bit of whimsy The seating I chose reminded me of someone’s wicker beach house furniture and really would have allowed me to stay for hours if I wanted to. And the decorations are chock full of beach kitsch and wood. It’s kind of like tiki bar meets coffee shop. So much love for this place, so much love.

The menu is very limited to a few coffee snacks. The coffee is good but not noteworthy. Why the cinque stele then? The space. Lovingly restored bamboo furniture & old surfboards; a hideaway balcony. And the place has its own heartbreakingly romantic story. There is no better place in TriBeCa to meet someone or just be alone & hide out from work for awhile. Mahalo. PLEASENOTE: As of this writing(5−22−13), Bikini Bar is closed till June 11. Why? Surf’s up, natch.

Best place for a date, or just for a wonderful cup of coffee in NYC.

This place makes me happy. It reminds me of the beaches of Bali and the beautiful, clear water of Hanauma Bay. It makes me think of giant turtles, colorful surfboards, and everything good in life. The owners apparently have had the space for a while but only recently converted it into a coffee shop and cocktail lounge. This is not your typical grab-and-go NY coffee shop; the hours alone should tell you that(11−6pm, Tue-Sat… but hey, longer summer hours are coming!). This place gives you a great space to sit down and enjoy your coffee, while getting lost in a conversation, a really tough work assignment, or your own thoughts. I dropped by Saturday around noon-ish after a short jog in the area, and found most tables occupied. There were people doing work on their laptop, old friends catching up, and a group that appeared to be engaged in a very serious discussion upstairs. There were 2 – 3 tables left, one of which we happily occupied. Service was super friendly and genuinely helpful. I thought the cold brew was excellent and needed no milk or sugar. The fact that they put it in a colorful Brooklyn Lager pint glass with just enough ice cubes, and an orchid on top was perfection. Very chill atmosphere. A little slice of tropical paradise bringing you Seattle coffee culture in Tribeca, I’m a fan.

This place is so cute! Upon stepping inside it feels like a mini-vacation from the city’s hustle and bustle. The space is really intimate and relaxing. Super friendly service and the coffee is excellent! Sure it may be $ 4, but you are definitely getting quality.

One of the best cappuccinos I’ve ever had(instead of bars I visit coffee shops, i know i’m a coffeeholic and am embracing it!). If you like coffee that’s not espresso based, I highly recommend their pour over coffee. Please, please, try it without cream and sugar first, this is not your average Starbucks or DD. Coffee peeps in the know, Bikini doesn’t have Chemex, Hario, siphon, etc, but their pour over is good. The barista, Danielle, was the manager for Octane coffee in Atlanta for 5 years and had trained many baristas in that time. She knows her stuff. In terms of food, they seem to always stock a few vegan, gluten free baked goods. The space, oh my, the space… it’s airy, open(has second floor seating), lots of Hawaiian /tiki decorations, always has available seating. I would spend way too much time and money here if I lived in this neighborhood. On my second visit, the space was just as intimate and wonderful. Definitely a good spot to catch up with a friend or for an ideal date(mine at least).

You had me at bikini… Delicious coffee and a barista super passionate about it. Oh, and you can also buy a surfboard while you wait. What else do you want from your coffee bar?

A «ten minute vacation» each time I go. Swank tiki décor, charming staff, great coffee, and calming atmosphere. This place is a real gem in the neighborhood.
