A fine Irish bar in tribeca. There is a large basement area where people can throw private parties. There was a doorman, a private bar and a large area for events and dancing. There was a DJ and tables in the back on which you could throw your coats. I bet it didn’t cost that much to reserve. There was a $ 10 cover at the door and the people were cool. I walked through the upstairs section of the bar just to get a feel. There were a few people grabbing drinks and watching TV. It was decently cheap both for beer and mixed drinks. Overall, it seems like a fine place to throw a party if you are on a budget, but it’s nothing special.

The place was a disappointment. First the bar at 6 pm on a Wednesday was covered with dirty glasses which had probably been there for a long time. The bar tenders were nice but frazzled and once they took your credit card it was hard to get it back. The bar is also tiny and NOT a place to meet more than a couple people. Did not try any of the food. Will definitely look for another place to meet people for a drink in this area. Getting a refill/second drink was very difficult. Maybe it was a staffing issue but the dirty glasses everywhere was very off-putting.

After visiting the 9⁄11 memorial we decided to wander the area and see if we could find a local pub to quench our thirst and re-enliven our spirits. Biddy’s is an Irish pub with accents to boot. We were excited by the prospects of playing beer pong, but there weren’t any tables set up when we arrived at the cusp of happy hour(we were on vacation…). We parked ourselves at the bar and enjoyed a pint or two. I felt like a «foo-foo» drink and requested that the barman come up with some concoction for me. It was a nice blend. The regular patrons were friendly and helpful. We got a few recommendations of where to go next, which turned out to be great advice.

Oh, Biddy Early’s, what CAN’T you do?! *nostalgia sequence* Long ago(okay, maybe in 2008), my cousin and I were supposed to meet a friend somewhere near the financial district. Said friend is an absolutely amazing, crazed, and very chatty Irish-American gal from New Haven who, upon entering any establishment, will immediately make friends with everyone there, and come to know their life stories in about two minutes, never forgetting their names or their grandchildren and dogs names. This is exactly what happened when we stumbled into Biddy Early’s three years ago looking for our friend — she had the whole bar already in love with her, and apparently had only been there for half an hour. We had a pint or two at Biddy’s, talked to many Irish gentlemen, and were on our way. We never really thought about or knew the name of the place we were at. *end nostalgia sequence* The othah day(as we say in New England), I was waiting for my cousin to get outta school, guy, and got bored walking around Chinatown looking at Hello Kitty b.s. and two dollar«New York Fucking City» tshirts, so I wandered back to TriBeCa and stumbled into what seemed like a comforting slice of home(hilariously, Irish bars will always seem 100% like home to me, even though I’m 100% French Canadian — it’s just the New England way). Enter Biddy Early’s. It was the middle of the day — about 3:30pm, and no one was really in this li’l pub. I sat at the bar, ordered me a Smithwick’s and began to write some postcards to my friends back in Ohio(seriously, I have no shame — I own my postcard writing!). No sooner had I written a couple notes, than some old Irish gentleman sat down next to me and asked me if I was writing a novel. A conversation soon ensued, and it turned out that this gently-drunken white-haired son of Éire was from the very same County Cork in which I lived for a year as a foreign exchange student in high school. When my cousin arrived to pick my happy ass up off the now-comfy barstool, she looked around with narrowed eyes and said, in her southern Connecticut accent, «WAAAAAAIT aminute!» The setting was all too familiar — while I had not bothered to look around(postcards and pints, Irish gentlemen, etc), she immediately recognised the pub as part of one of our many stories about how our friend will always make friends with everyone, immediately, no matter where she goes — and know the names of their kids, grandkids, and pets, as well(as well as their various triumphs and maladies). Hot damn, the fodder of our stories all these years was Biddy Early’s — who knew?! Just down the street from my cousin’s college. Oh, life! This is what happens at Biddy Early’s — even if you are not my aforementioned name-remembering pub-crawling friend from New Haven. You WILL drink pints(and/or whiskey shots) and you WILL make friends with random Irish gentlemen in this bar, and apparently, you WILL always return, even years later.

I consider Biddy’s one of my local watering holes, even though I don’t live anywhere near it. I’ve been going here for years, and consider it a home away from home. The bartenders are fantastic, and the place is awesome for either bringing a group or just having a pint by yourself. The boneless buffalo wings are the best in NYC!

Casual dive bar… perfect for a quick drink. We stopped into this place after our tourist trek over the Brooklyn Bridge. It’s a solid dive bar that is casual and lowkey. It has a long bar with plenty of stools and a good amount of tables and seating. We were grabbing a couple things and just catching up, but they do have a decent menu with burgers, apps, and other things. The crowd seems like regulars, coworkers happy hrs, and just randoms(which was us.) If you are looking for a lowkey bar, thats quiet and decent. It meets the mark.

Friday night in TriBeCa, and I wanted to have a beer or two with Unilocaler extraordinaire, Matteo R. Unfortunately my first pick had a line to the door of people waiting to eat at the restaurant, and the small bar inside was quite packed. So my trusty Unilocal app led us to a suitable bar only a few blocks away. Biddy Earlys was busy, but not crazy for a Friday night. There was a long bar up front, and a small dining area in the back. We quickly snagged the last available table and had a go at dinner and drinks. The waiter was stretched impossibly thin. He is apparently responsible for every single table in the back and also has to fetch all of the drinks from the bar. Yikes! Fortunately the window to the kitchen is right along the wall of the dining area, so he can keep the running to a minimum, but still, he looked pretty busy. I had a shepherd’s pie($ 9.95) to eat and tried my hand at a couple of beers. While everything was satisfactory, there was some disappointment on both accounts. For an Irish bar, I was kind of disappointed to see ground beef in the shepherd’s pie instead of ground lamb. It was the typical(non-Irish) bar fare with ground beef, mashed potatoes, lots of salt, and hints of carrots and peas. The beer was disappointing in the sense that they offer many selections but only carry a few. On our visit, they did not have any Old Speckle Hen, Magic Hat, or Blue Point for example. More of a Guinness and Sam bar here. Meh. The ambiance was fine though, so it was passable.

Nice small bar. The place is covered in bottles liquors and kitschy signs. There is a large bar area upon walking in, followed by a seating area nestled in the back. Went in for a few afternoon brews and a burger. They had a nice deal going. Burger and 2 beers $ 10. Can’t beat that with a stick(or shillelagh in this case). The bartenders were very nice and attentive Irish ladies. Just the way we like ‘em. The food was very good, as was the atmosphere.

Awesome little bar! I was actually taken here on a date lol. I lost my beer pong virginity. He said he had been going there since he was 19(lol at the references to the 22 and up sign in other reviews) Beer pong was lots of fun here. It was a random weekday night, not alot of people, maybe 10? The wings were soooo good! And my drinks were made right. I love my long island ice teas and the bartender perfected it. I definitely got tipsy. You wouldn’t think it would make for a great date but it was honestly one of the best! Too bad the guy ended up being a total asshole! Great spot for beer pong virgins!

I was here around 6 last night. The first thing i noticed was one of the framed notices visible from outside which said«Drinking Age is 22 and Over. Must Present Government Issued ID» I thought the drinking age was 21? I saw perhaps 10 people in the place. I asked about drink specials. I was told they have domestic drafts for $ 2.50, a very good price indeed. I ordered a Coors Light. I was just about finished when the bartender set me up again. Very nice.

Would I come here if it weren’t just down the block my office? Probably not, but if you’re in Lower Manhattan or the just below Tribeca and want a any beer they have for $ 4 a pint during happy hour this is for you. The Bud, Miller and Coors are cheaper but I’ll stay with my $ 4 Harp or Smithwick’s. I came in here to watch the Yankees in the playoffs when they’d have late afternoon games last October and there was a good baseball and drinking atmosphere. I ended up talking to a middle-aged Brit in town on business who told me how much he preferred cricket to baseball but I though, «if this where he goes for pints(and yes, he played the part with the Macintosh coat and pint after pint) then it’s good enough for me.» I saw him there the next time I came in, this time on a Friday after work. It’s a long narrow bar with tables in the back. I haven’t had any of their food besides the free wings they put out, though I’m not sure if they have them every day or just on Fridays. Their pretty soggy but I guess you can’t complain when they’re free and sitting in a steam table. You’ll find a lot of city workers, some construction, and some general office folk(I guess that’s me now) but it’s not the cosmo drinking crowd so if that’s what you’re looking for, look for one of the places a few blocks north. In short, a nice Irish bar to have a pint, a pour, and maybe some bar food.

Went here last weekend during the snowstorm. It’s a cozy pub and we were looking for comfort food. The majority of us got the bangers and mash. It was good and the portions were large. We had plenty of Guinness, Magners and Harp as well. For four dishes and drinks for five people, our tab was around $ 80. It was an older crowd earlier in the evening and we left when the younger crowd rolled in and the beer pong started. Sat at the bar while there and the bartender was attentive. He chatted with us for a bit. I would check this place out again.
