How in the hell have I not reviewed beer culture yet? Very few places are worth traversing the hell on earth that is Time Square. Beer Culture is not one of them. BUT if you find yourself in the area and need an escape BC is definitely worth checking out. Things to note: *If you couldn’t already tell, it’s a bar that specializes in beer. don’t ask for a cocktail(but do ask for whiskey). *The taps are always rotating, there is always something new to try. *They have multiple fridges with craft beers in them, all of which can be consumed on site; do yourself a favor and get a price check first(beers range in price from cheap to very much not cheap) *Beer can also be purchased to go, and are normally half the price as if you were to stay and drink(not always, the very rare ones are discounted but not half off). *Any beer in the 70’s looking fridge is 3 $, which is pretty damn sweet*. The space itself is definitely on the small side, and its gets crazy busy after work hours and on the weekend. I’ve always found the staff to be super chill, ready to answer any and all questions you may have about any of the more exotic beers you’re thinking about trying out. If you can score a seat in the back(the high tables in the corner are particularly comfy), it’s a great place to chill for a few hours. I really can’t recommend sitting at the bar on a busy night though, as you’ll be constantly bombarded with hands trying to get cans of beer to the bartender; that said the bar is a nice place to hang on quiet nights. All in all, I really have to give this spots props as a pre-game location or as a night cap spot. I love the chance to try new and interesting beers, and this place never disappoints in that respect. ____________________________ *For your finances but not so much your liver, as there are often tall boys to be found in here.

Chill spot. Bartenders are friendly and hanging out. Huge beer selection. Strange thing is you go and get most of the beers yourself from the coolers. But that’s no problem. No frills, no attitude, great place to get a good beer and joke around.

Great selection of beers and great staff! Love the place but it’s awfully dark. They have an assortment of beers in fridges that you can select from. You can’t open the beer before you pay… they actually have to open it for you. I asked for advice and they rushed from behind the bar to give me a walk through of all the choices. Felt like a nice atmosphere! They also have tons of books around for leisure reading with your craft brew ski.

Cool spot for people that like beer. Their whiskey selection is a little lacking, but they have the go-tos. Bring that they just have beer and whiskey you’d think they’d have the correct ice for Whiskey, but they don’t. Ordered a whiskey on the rocks, and it was full of soda ice cubes. I know that sounds pretentious but if you like whiskey you know the difference. Anyways, cool place to check out. A bunch of different options as far as beers and definitely worth it. Pricing is pretty affordable as well.

A great selection of bottles, a knowledgeable staff, really good food, and a fridge full of Genny cans just to keep it real. With a bunch of vertical fridges to choose a bottle from, I have yet to get bored with the massive selection of beers and the rotating taps which always have some winners included. It can get a bit crowded during happy hour, but it mellows out afterwards and is a good option for most times of the night. No vodka, tequila, etc. so don’t come unless you want to drink whiskey or beer.

I was a fan of this little bar the minute I saw the«No vodka, no gin, no rum, no tequila, no bitching» sign behind the bar. I really wanted to order a Long Island Iced Tea just to see what would happen, but it was busy so I skipped my funny jokes to keep the beer flowing. It’s a little small, but hey, it’s Manhattan. Nice neighborhood bar, equally welcoming to folks in business suits or jeans. No underage clowns or hooligans.

Always been a fan. Great atmosphere, normally not too busy, and amazing beer selection. Considering where this place is located, it’s a gem.

Admittedly, I didn’t get to spend a lot of time in this place; I was using up my Good Whiskey Passport with some friends that perched in the rear. Still! This isn’t a joint I’d expect so close to Times Square. I’m certainly not complaining that it’s there! Fridges upon fridges of beers and ciders lined the walls in a relatively tight bar area, tighter than most nights, surely, because I went at 6 p.m. on a Friday. Heh. I’d defintely love to come back here another time and try their array of ciders! Though there were your typical American and UK brands, I saw some drier french cidres in one of the fridges that piqued my interest!

Beer Culture NY Manhattan Theater District 10pm Friday 22th January 2016 Four Stars This was a cool bar which can be summed up by the sign behind the bar: No Vodka No Gin No Rum No Tequila No Bitching Beer and Whiskey Only The main attraction was a beer fridge where you pick out your own bottled beer to stay or go. However, the«bartender must open all bottles.» I came here for my 7th stop on the Good Whiskey Passport. They had several options but the Aventius Eldster sounded the most interesting. The staff was friendly and funny. It’s definitely a place where regulars and newcomers are warmly welcomed.

I’m quite the beer connoisseur and came here awhile back with a friend who had found this place via Unilocal and(also being a big beer fan) was intrigued. The interior is dimply lit and really quite nice. Warm and inviting — perfect for downing a few rounds of quality beers. Unfortunately neither or us were impressed by their beer selection or pricing. I feel like it was maybe a beer menu off day — but this was also in the Fall and Fall is one of the best seasons for beer… Oktoberfests, porters, stouts(more winter, but there are a good handful of autumnal varieties, pumpkin… no excuse for a meh beer selection when beer is your self-proclaimed specialty. I’d give this place a whirl again one day if in the neighborhood, but for now — 3 stars.

You really can’t go wrong with almost 20 taps and 4 huge fridges of delicious craft beer — this is beer culture. Also, you can take the beer with you to go(not to drink and go) but take the un-opened bottles with you. We enjoyed this bar a few times on our last trip — when we were there it was fairly quiet which we liked. For more information and pictures check out our site:

This is a nice enough place for what it is. An amiable neighborhood dive bar with a good beer selection — most of the selection is bottled beer in a large display case opposite the bar. Bartender today was nice enough. I stopped by for lunch — had the chili(OK) — and a Dogfish Head wheat beer. They have about twelve beers on tap — mostly brands which I have not seen. Spirits selection is limited — this is not a cocktail bar — but they had some interesting bottles. I tried the Town Branch Rye which was better than some, very smooth. I am tempted to come back and try a whiskey flight. Background music was something contemporary rock/pop. Not all that loud. Since the space is very limited; it may be a good spot to «bump into» a new friend in the evening. If I came by again; maybe I could be persuaded to add an extra star. Good neighborhood spot; not worth an Über.

Big fan of this place, the beer selection is amazing. A choose your own from a couple hundred different cans or bottles in the fridges that line the back walls. You pick what you want and bring it to the bar, the bartenders will open and pour for you into the proper glass. They also have a dozen or so fine selections at the bar to choose from. Lots of the local NYC area breweries have their hard to find beers served here and then there is a huge selection both from across the US as well as global selection. As an IPA guy I had a Singlecut 18 Watt, coupel of Jai Alai IPAs, from Cigar City and when I went out-of-the-box I found a great ale called Yona Yona from Japan which I have never heard of before. But they have a huge number of Belgians, sour beers, fruit beers, pretty much everything. If you are a craft beer guy/girl Beer Culture is for you. The atmosphere is also awesome, look and vibe in the place is killer and good tunes playing all night. The food was also righteous, I had the Ol’ Smokey meatball sub and it was the perfect blend of homemade meatballs with a little heat to them and crunchy but soft bread. It’s the only thing I had so can’t speak to any of the other food, but when I go again I’m not gonna order anything else because it was that good. One word of advice… don’t crack the beers you get from the cooler yourself, that’s the bartenders job.

In the apparent tourist trap that is Midtown West, this small often overlooked gem is a main stay of my drinking. Are you looking for a quick beer or two before retiring after dinner and a show? Come here. Did you just escape time square madness with out of town family members and need a beer to congratulate yourself on not punching a stranger? Bingo bango Beergo. Beer culture is a cozy bar, filled with fridges of all different beer varieties. I love coming to places like this to try new beers and expand what I enjoy. Not only do they offer hundreds of bottles for selection, they also have rotating taps that change fairly regularly. They have multiple fridges(back toward the bathroom they have the more seasonal options) and they also have the cheapo beer option in the small old school fridge on the right. Anything in there is just 3 bucks so you can not go wrong if you are on a budget. Make sure to view all of the fridges before bringing your bottle or can to the bar to be opened by the bartender! It can often get pretty crowded depending on the night. I’ve seen it packed with barely room to open the fridge as well as empty with a few tables sitting vacant. Either way is a good time so if you find yourself in the area, check out Beer Culture.

If you like beer, you will like this place. There is a refrigerator full of at least 50 types of beers. Pick one, pay the bartender and they will open it for you. They also have food. There is no waiter service, its a no frills kinda place. Its good for big groups because everyone will pay for their own drinks. Not sure if its a Mets bar? I was here hanging out with friends and these loud 300 lbs obnoxious guys kept screaming and jumping up and down while the game was on, I thought I was in an earthquake zone.

Small place with a huge collection. Can get quite crowded on a Friday night, but still enjoyable. They have a large selection of beer, both on tap and bottled. The atmosphere is quite basic, but clean and friendly. My only complaint is that the«bus boy»(I’m not entirely sure what his job was, but he kept wandering around cleaning things) was getting quite frustrated with the amount of people present in the bar. Otherwise, Beer Culture is a good choice.

Dear Beer Culture, I’m sorry I ony discovered you 4 years after living around the corner. I wish I’d known sooner and I would have come all the time. Your endless beer selection, cool vibe and build your own 6-pack makes me regret not knowing sooner. Thanks for becoming a neighborhood favorite!

Great selection of interesting beers.(Stopped in before heading to a Broadway show.) The crowd was very mixed and for once didn’t feel touristy. Def a hidden gem among the noise of the rushing streets. *Warning* The wings w/hot sauce are the hottest things I’ve ever tasted(considering I add hot sauce or crushed red pepper to almost everything I eat). I think the chicken would have been tasty, but my mouth was unbearably on fire the entire time… I could only get through a couple wings. Should have gotten the BBQ, whoops.

A lot of craft beer places are very pretentious, but this place is fantastic! The owner is down to earth and everyone who works there is friendly and willing to answer any questions… no matter how dumb(and obvious that I know nothing about beer). They have a decent selection of beers in bottles and on draft, if you’re a whisky drinker, you’ll love this place. I’d go earlier in the day when it’s less crowded and if you’re hungry, order the nachos! Huge portion and very yummy. Sometimes they have cask beer as well, which is also very cool. Great place! Must check it out if you’re in the area!

I *loved* this place! Find me a small bar, huge beer selection(both on tap and in bottles/can) and a great bartender and I am one happy girl! Like I said, it’s a smaller place. A place you know almost only all locals go — the bartender seemed to know a lot of the customers. Now, it’s small, and there are not a lot of frills, but I would not even consider this place to be a dive bar. The bartender was friendly and I appreciated his beer recommendations. Plus, he was more than ok with me sampling several of the local beers on tap. Plus, I never had to wait to get my next beer. Winning. If you’re looking for a chill, local place with a huge large beer selection… this is a great spot!
