Wonderful place for dog owners. Amazing to sit outside and eat if you have a dog, with the water faucet and dishes of water for pups… The best most memorable experience I had here was when we had a dog visiting and needed to find a place to bring him with us… We ate here 3 times that day since I could not take him in our building. Sitting outside with a pup was so much fun and all the dogs and people who owned them chatted a bit, the dogs flirted and played a little, was really fun to be a part of this dog world for a day. That was the best experience I had here, as well as bringing a number of kids to sit outside and eat … Their specialty/house breakfast special offering with eggs, hash browns, bacon — wonderfully made, plentiful, delicious and filling. I have ordered the burgers a few times including one on our recent visit, and am underwhelmed mostly because I like my burger on a burger type roll not on the bread or rolls they provide. It’s my(and my sons) preference. Their Cobb salad which I have had a few times for delivery and at the restaurant — is amazing with wonderfully fresh and solid ingredients … Chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks and fries are tasty and a hit with kids. They had a fantastic jambalaya that they sadly don’t offer anymore — I’ve called a few times craving this hoping they brought it back but no such luck yet. They deliver and service both in the restaurant and for delivery has been friendly and pretty timely Highly recommend for dog owners who want to take their pups to dine with them when it’s nice outside !

Oohh I think this might be my new favorite diner on the UES! Let me just say that the pancakes were heavenly. So fluffy and buttery. I usually spread some butter on my warm pancakes before drizzling some maple syrup on, but these pancakes were delicious on their own without butter. And Barking Dog has Vermone maple syrup in little glass bottles with Barking Dog stickers! Granted, they are $ 2 per tiny bottle, but I’m a sucker for maple syrup, so I was all about that. The Granny Smith omelette is an absolute stroke of genius and so so good. Apples, sausages, and cheddar cheese in soft, fluffy egg. Comes with hash brown. And a delicious biscuit. Can it get any better? Yes. Fresh-squeezed orange juice. Doesn’t come with the meal, but they have delicious fresh-squeezed OJ. Yay! The service was nothing to call home about but was pleasant. Also, they are apparently doggy-friendly, which is so cool! It’s about a 10 minute walk away, which is further than my 2-minute walk to my previous favorite diner, but I think it is so worth it.

Had brunch on a Sunday with a big group of around 10 people and received FANTASTIC service from the hostess and servers. They were so accommodating– took and stored our bags, very attentive and easily dealt with food allergies and some custom requests for our meals. Everything was great and we couldn’t have been treated better. Definitely recommend for groups!

I have been here several times for brunch and always thought it was adequate, nothing great. My son and I went there this past Sunday and what a disappointment! My son ordered the bagel with smoked salmon, which he has always enjoyed there but this time the bagel was tiny, not the larger ones they used to have. There was a small piece of salmon, 2 slices of tomato, and a few capers with a little cream cheese. It barely filled the plate… he had to still be hungry when we left… and for $ 14??? I had a grilled vegetable sandwich and a bloody mary; my son had a cup of black coffee. The total came to nearly $ 50. Ridiculous. I do not plan to return.

This place is really cool. The hostess was absolutely one of the more friendly ones. She was really nice and quick. I love good service especially when the food is delicious as well. I will definitely return. I got the egg omelette and coffee. Coffee was nice and strong. Didn’t have to ask for a refill. My daughter got chicken fingers and French fries of course. I must say the chicken was really fresh. Not the like the crap you get from other restaurants. Will return A+

I ordered the NY Sirloin steak last night and got severely sick from their food… Stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting. Only now am I starting to feel somewhat ‘better.’ I called the restaurant, and told them that I’d gotten sick from their food. All I wanted was the value of the meal credited back to my card. But they’ve refused to do so, telling me that I need to go to the dr. and have my dr. send them a note proving that I got sick from the food. Absurd!!! Up until today, I’ve been a loyal/frequent customer. But this is the way they treat their customers after they get them violently ill? Needless to say I will not be frequenting this establishment anymore.

I came here for Sunday brunch during June with my family(read: grandma, 4 other adults, 1 kid, and 2 babies…). The wait staff was extremely accommodating and even helped us fold up strollers and stored them so we could sit in the restaurant a little bit easier. The menu is extensive and not too terribly expensive. We all ordered an assortment of brunch foods — everything from omelettes to pancakes, and even just basic egg dishes. I personally recommend anything that includes the biscuits as the biscuit was the best part of the meal. Great little place with lots of entertaining dogs.

I went to this restaurant for brunch because I had my dog with me. They brought her a bowl of water when we sat down which was great. However when I put some eggs on my side plate and gave it to my dog, they had a fit and acted like it was the end of the world. I guess they don’t wash their plates after people use them so the plates they serve the food on must be dirty and unhygienic. Why else would they have such a bad reaction?

Went here one morning a few weeks back for breakfast with my sister. Yikes. Server was nice enough, but the service was slow, and had perhaps the worst blueberry pancakes I’ve ever had. I don’t know if it was a bad batch, but wound up getting food poisioning — that, without being too graphic, was obviously from something with blueberries in it. I’d be willing to give it another shot. Atmosphere wasn’t awful.

We ate here purely for our little mutt. We thought, okay, how hard is it to mess up a calamari, burger and wine? Well our calamari was not crispy and the cocktail sauce flavorless and runny. It tasted like it came out of a can of stewed tomatoes without any seasoning. Our«kobe» burger looked like a thin slice of overcooked patty. They forgot our cheese and a side of the cajun remoulade dipping sauce that eventually made the burger somewhat bearable. Our dog, who is avidly known for her poor beggary manners refused to eat the burger. She looooves tomatoes but she refused those too. Hmmm. if our less than picky pooch refused this fare, that was really telling for us. The wine cost $ 10 and tastes like watered down table wine. Gross. We ordered a banana split and that was maybe the best part of the meal. There are plenty of places in the city you can take your best friend to and still get a decently valued and tasty meal! Sorry Scruffles, we will not be back and we don’t think you’d mind! Scruffles says: «Two paws down!»

Stumbled upon this canine-friendly, local diner this morning on our way over to the dog park. Barking Dog’s Country Breakfast Special, available M-F for only $ 7.95, has got to be one of the best brunch deals on the UES. Featuring 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon/sausage, biscuit, fresh-squeezed OJ, AND bottomless coffee, you can’t beat this value! Our warm and attentive server, Reina, kindly brought our dog a water bowl and repeatedly came by to refill our coffees. Looks like I found a new favorite weekday brunch spot — we’ll be back again for sure!

DONOTVISITTHISRESTAURANT. The management is incredibly rude. I visited the restaurant recently and called to talk to the owner. The manager Rafeyel/Rafael picked up. On asking him about the owner, he told me to call between 12pm-3pm and hung on me. Thinking we just got disconnected, I called back just to be hung up on again. He refused to give me an email address to contact the management at. Absolutely ridiculous!

When my mom brought my dog to the city, we had a lot of trouble finding a place to eat that allowed my pup to join. After many failed attempts I googled dog friendly places, found this, and cabbed there. We were starving and we were served promptly. I had a delicious house salad — the balsamic dressing was delicious — as well as a bison burger. The buns were not normal buns and not as sturdy but I appreciated the uniqueness of it. Overall if you need a place to eat outside with your dog, I would definitely recommend here! They had lots of options on their menu– salads, burgers, sandwiches, pastas, etc. and I’m sure everyone will find something to fit their appetite :)

Hey fellow Unilocalers just want to leave a quick review on the barking dog restaurant in the upper East side of Manhattan, I came in for a quick breakfast Thursday morning about 9AM place is pretty much empty which is great so no need to wait I had the eggs Benedict with the French toast was very excellent and came up very fast is very tasty, The restaurant is really small and have about a dozen tables and they also have a bar. Over all the food is good nothing amazing but good fast but good

A pretty standard diner/restaurant with decent food and an expansive menu. The service is friendly and quick and the place is full of families enjoying weekend brunch. I had the turkey burger and it was decent, maybe a little overcooked. We split sweet potato fries which were actually surprisingly good. Not a place I have on my list to return to, but if convenient I would wander in again, but would keep to the brunch menu.

Because I work with dog owners every day, how could I pass up the chance to eat at The Barking Dog? I wanted something light and since it’s a pretty cold start to Spring, I chose their chicken soup with vegetables. In a word, delicious! Definitely homemade with care. Fresh vegetables, excellent chicken flavor and moist pieces of chicken. Perfectly seasoned, too. The waitress was attentive and when I asked how the place got its name, she told me the story succinctly but without being put out by the request. The entire restaurant was decorated for Easter and it was adorable. Totally enjoyable establishment!

I would not recommend the«Famous Barking Dog Burger» at all. It comes on this square shaped chunk of focaccia bread. The bread has a strong herbal taste and is so thick that it covers up the taste of the burger patty. The patty itself was very average and not too juicy — pretty dry actually. I am sure it was their idea to be different with their burger, but it was a bad idea. Their Italian hero though was a little better but not by much. It is on ciabatta bread and comes with mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto and red peppers. Like almost all their sandwiches, it is over $ 11 and is not too big. Both of these sandwiches were advertised as coming with a «side» of cole slaw. I hesitate to call it a side because it was actually just a tiny mouthful. Maybe some of the other items on the menu are better, but my first impression is this place is a miss.
