This bar is straight up sexy af It is dark in the right way. I am a martini or near scotch guy so it is hard for me to comment on their cocktail list, but it looks good and inventive and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. The atmosphere is classy meets sexy. This is a place for spies to meet or clandestine love affairs to happen. It makes up one of the three great hotel bars in the hotel triangle(along with Bemelman’s and the Mark Bar) and is definitely the one to go to at the end of the night.

Wonderful place for an early drink, dark and cozy but refreshingly quiet and intimate. Hard to think of places on the Upper East Side that would be worthy of refined yet casual relaxation in a great environment. It’s a tony and comfortable bar in the Surrey Hotel, near Boulud. Drinks are certainly stiff priced but not extreme. Service is chill and seats are incredibly comfortable. A hot night out no? A sophisticated place to sit and talk and hear good friends? Yes, yes.

This is a beautiful bar you should definitely pass up. Unfortunately the high level environment is not matched by the staff or level of service. Their gruff and nonchalant attitude makes you feel as if they are doing you a favor. There are too many other beautiful venues in New York that also appreciate your patronage.

Different ambience for a hotel bar. Maybe since it was a Wednesday night it wasn’t so packed. It seemed more loungey and was just a nice place to just have a drink, relax and have a molten lava cake after dinner. Service was also very friendly. They have a nice list of whiskey/scotch if that’s what you’re into(forgot what the bf got). I got a cocktail — «Rose to the Bottom» and would have gotten another if it wasn’t a work day :(. A much nicer option than the carlyle hotel.

We recently had our wedding at the Bar hosted by Café Boulud. It was fabulous! Started off a little shaky as things kept changing hands throughout the year while our plans were being made, but eventually we lucked out and met a Yudaly. She took such good care of our special event. Every detail was run by her and executed in the most gracious way. This bar was a perfect setting for a 1920’s inspired event. We even hired their weekly band who plays on Friday nights. Great drinks, food and great time had by all. –Andrea Caprio

This bar is gorgeous! If only we had more lovely lounges like this on the UES! The drinks are pricey, but very good. Plus they give you lovely snacks to go with. Very sexy place to bring a loved one.

Saturday night. All signs say you’re open until midnight. We arrive at 11:15 to be told you’re closing down, while there appear to be about a dozen guests seated around. The pinnacle of poor customer service. Here is a tip, when a couple of customers walk in, during posted hours, provide the service you claim to do. Otherwise, find another vocation. Supreme disappointment after a long day. If not already staying at the Surrey, wouldn’t care as much.

Nice place to bring that special someone, or visitors from out of town. The place feels luxurious and yet comfy. And the drinks and food are excellent!

I have been coming to bar Pleidies for a few years now. Located at the Surrey hotel on 76th in between 5th and Madison I first started to come to bar pleidies A few years ago with a group of friends and my EX girlfriend. The location is normally very quiet and relaxing. Drinks are normally $ 25-$ 35 a drink on the menu. I usually pay around $ 32 a shot here. But it depends on what you drink. You can sit at the bar or they have very nice lounge areas. On certain nights during the week they have live jazz music playing. Bar pleidies has a fantastic selection of single malts. Last time that I was here I had 2 single malts and the total came to $ 106. I believe because it’s expensive this tends to weed out most of the crowd. This is a great place to grab a drink with a friend or a girlfriend. I used to come here with 4 or 5 people and we would take up a whole lounge. At 24 years old I’m still one of the youngest people in the bar. This is not really a place for young people. Everyone is in a lounge or sitting down. We would come here before going out. It’s a solid place to come and grab a drink or two before you go out or if you’re on your way back home. The bar area is very nice. Sometimes at the bar you will meet locals and other times you will just meet businessman that are staying at the Surrey. The lounges are mostly filled with locals every once a while I can tell that somebody’s international just by how they’re talking. the staff will place candles on each table it really creates a nice atmosphere and mood. They have a very good selection of drinks the mixologist year and the barmaids are very good at what they do. They stock 10yr old scotch up to 35yr old at the bar. I don’t like telling secrets but they do have a private stash of drinks and bottles that you have to ask for. They offer a conti that is $ 12,000. The staff and barmaids and mixologists have been nothing but great every time that I come here. Overall bar pleidies is a great bar lounge. You get what you pay for in life. You pay for privacy and relaxation and service. You will experience all 3. This is a top notch bar. I recommend if your a local. PROS: — fantastic selection of wine and single malt — quiet and private.

This is Celeb chef Daniel Boulud’s upscale lounge with a sophisticated atmosphere. Love the black-&-white décor inspired by Coco Chanel. Enjoy bartender Darryl Chan’s signature cocktails. I’ve often had tea and the divine warm madeleines. On Mondays and Fridays from 9pm to midnight, there is live jazz. Very classy.

Wonderful upscale, sophisticated lounge in the Surrey Hotel with eye catching lighting and modern luxurious décor. I sat for the first 5 — 10 minutes just taking in the décor, ambiance and atmosphere. We had an after dinner cocktail and it was on the later side so the lounge was almost empty. As a result we were able to sit in a very cozy semi enclosed private pod type area which I’m sure when busiest would probably be reserved for groups of more than 2. They have an extensive specialty cocktail menu, and one of the many that caught my eye which I ordered was the Rose to the Bottom… A lovely pink drink with a distinct flavor I hadn’t had before. The waitress was professional, attentive and wonderful offering suggestions and answering questions. Highly recommend as a lounge for a date, or with friends or family.

Beautifully appointed upscale bar located in the gorgeous Surrey hotel. I suggest dressing up when you visit. Although you don’t have to be in a ballroom gown, a lot of the guests had on business suits and cocktail dresses. I enjoyed the Risotto appetizer with aged cheddar and it was delicious and filling. My drink of choice was a delectable espresso martini. The servers are personable and efficient. The crowd is welcoming; I noticed a lot of patrons introducing themselves to one another, so it’s a great place to network and meet new people. The décor is reflective of modern luxury. I will definitely be back!

Can’t really go wrong with a Daniel Boulud place right? Great bar, great cocktail selection. Everything was crafted carefully. Some very interesting cocktails on their menu and the bar staff was friendly and accommodating. They brought out some fried risotto balls for us… they go great as a munchy with the cocktail. Definitely will be returning here for fancy drinks!

Amazing cocktails(albeit pricey-think around $ 18 apiece). I had the New Black(sweet clover infused vodka with blackberry, lime). Really very good drinks.

Love this place. Balance of cordial and coolest cocktail lounge on UES. Selection of liquors is complete, unique and high end. For me this is a «can not miss fun spot» for high quality lounging.

Here’s how you do a hotel lounge. Very refined but comfortable, just the right lighting level, windows with just enough view of the UES neighborhood, a large but not overwhelming cocktail list with all the liquors covered, and a nice wine selection. Then you top it off with bartenders who take great care with each drink and, in my favorite touch, use tweezers to place the garnishes. This makes a terrific start to dinner across the way at Café Boulud. Well done!

This is easily one of the top 5 hotel cocktail bars in Manhattan. Lots of inventive, complex cocktails. One of their simpler more refreshing drinks was yellow chartreuse with grapefruit juice and blended juniper berries, frozen and then shaved to make«chartreuse snow» topped with chilled champagne. Excellent. If you find yourself in the UES with a need for great cocktails, head over to Bar Pleiades.

3.5−4 stars. Within The Surrey Hotel, Bar Pleiades is a nice place to take a break once you’re done perusing the Met. The drinks are strong and tasty and they have plenty to choose from. The service was excellent; they easily accommodated our party of six on a wintry Sunday evening. Didn’t sample any of the food, but they plenty generous refilling our complimentary snacks.

Okay. I had to write a new review. I have come here on several occasions and have never left disappointed in any way. This has definitely become my go-to spot for drinks. The first time I came to Bar Pleiades was Halloween weekend. I wanted to escape the NYC madness that is Halloween and go somewhere more quiet for drinks. It was super quiet and laid-back(exactly the vibe I was searching for). The second time I came back to Bar Pleiades, there was a small jazz band playing. Usually when I go somewhere that has a jazz band, it is rather loud and then I am unable to speak with the person that I am with. Not here! It was absolutely perfect. I have come back on several occasions but this most recent time was what made me want to write a completely new review. So, I can’t smell coffee. Like, the smell makes me nauseas. I can walk into a Starbucks just fine, however, I cannot directly smell a cup of coffee(if that makes any sense). I was sipping my wine when I got a very strong whiff of coffee. I asked our server if it was possible for us to move because someone around me had coffee and it was giving me a headache(and making me nauseas). She told me that every seat was taken but as soon as someone moved or left, she would notify us. The manager then came over about 10 – 15 minutes later and said that he had checked every single table and looked everywhere to make sure no one had coffee and he did not find anyone drinking coffee(but they said it might have came from the back room which was rented out or something). I thought that this gesture definitely went above and beyond what I was expecting. It was a great touch. This place is so well run. If they ever loose this manager, I will probably cry. Seriously, this is the best bar for drinks on the Upper East Side, hands down.

This is a great gem of a bar/lounge that would be perfect for after museum drinks. Located in the Surrey Hotel is this fancy lounge that calls itself a bar despite the relatively small bar versus the amount of cozy seating. This seems like a date spot for the over 35 crowd. You can tell by walking in here that the drinks aren’t going to be cheap($ 17-$ 20) but it’s the upper east side west of Park avenue. It’s what you would expect. Posh is an understatement when you have bartenders in formal attire serving up unique concoctions off their mixology menu. My drink was good but artisan squared ice cubes are a little much at these mixology places. The less liquor more ice insures that nobody will be getting hammered at this place. Strictly, a classy one or two drink and go about your business establishment. The bartenders are really great and very conversational. Despite the upper class allure, this is a great adults only environment where you avoid the pretentiousness/douchiness that come with most mixology places that are found in the lower bowels of Manhattan. The bartenders know they are bartenders and are confident enough not to resign themselves to creating false job titles for themselves. This was a surprising find and further west from the typical bridge and tunnel bars that permeate the upper east side. If you are looking to be seen or impress your out of towner friends by showing them how NY trendy and savvy you are, this is not the place for you. If you want to have upscale drinks and enjoy quiet conversation after a nice event then this is your spot.

An excellent spot for an after work drink with friends, business drink with clients and colleagues. But wait, don’t hesitate to bring your date here as well, the booths have designed to look like Chanel makeup boxes, and girls really like the place. Excellent cocktails and delicious small plates. They will always bring you some olives, mixed nuts and chips. Some waiters are good, some less, you never know A must do !

Located in The Surrey Hotel, Bar Pleiades is a nice place to stop and take a break from the non-stop life in Manhattan. The drinks are made well and they have plenty of eats to choose from. Make sure you get the warm madeleines, they’re to die for. Apparently, these madeleines are the same madeleines that are served at Daniel. Recommendation: Warm Madeleines
