We waited about 45 minutes for a table of 5 for dinner at 8:30 on a Friday night. Our waiter was pretty cool, and cracked jokes about me being the only guy there. I ordered the buratta and the Penne Al Arrabiata. Never had the Buratta so it was a new experience for me. It was plated with grape tomatoes and a few big pieces of basil. It’s worth cutting in to aesthetically, and it tasted pretty good. The penne was slightly undercooked and very spicy. You can tell it was really fresh and I think the spiciness was more from how hot the the dish actually was. Overall, cute place. Might come back again. Only for cute dates, and people watching.

Delicious and reasonably priced. There was a long line waiting to be seated but my friend and I hardly had to wait at all– it went very quickly. We got pasta and the antipasto platter– this combination was absolutely perfect. The bread they served us before our food was incredibly fresh, authentic, Italian bread that was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was paired with a small dish of olive oil without any herbs or spices because the oil itself was such supreme quality. Our pasta was absolutely delicious and they give large portions. With the freshly grated parmesan on top, I could not put my fork down for even a second. The staff was incredibly friendly; they made us feel like we were regulars and were very laid back. This place has such a chill, laid back-on-an-italian-terrace vibe to it. Almost every party in the restaurant was just taking their time, conversing, resting back and enjoying their wine slowly. Although a lot of people were waiting to get in, the staff never rushed us to get out, and encouraged us to take our time and enjoy our food and drinks. I loved this atmosphere.

The place gets packed and there’s usually a wait but it is totally worth it. Delicious homemade pasta. Fresh ingredients and delicious sauces. I am taking a star because the place is cash only.

Waiting for a table and wondering what the bald guy is thinking in terms of who gets picked next for a table. Several hot chicks sat, boom boom boom. Do we just Trust that he is being fair or succum to the uncertainty and take 4 steps to the right to DaSilvano, looks smoother, but we have to get into bar pitti, God dammit.

Fantastic. I ordered the meat sauce penne pasta and I was at a loss for words. It was amazing and so delicious! The place is very tight and small but has a cozy warm feel to it! The burrata is also great! So yummy!

Food is out of this world. Very delicious. Must try Rigatoni Pitti and Veal Milanese. Great location, efficient staff and overall an experience not to be missed. Brought me back to Italy!

Pretty horrible pasta here. It tasted like cardboard and the prices were not great. The only good thing about the place is the atmosphere and the location. I don’t understand why this place takes cash only. I understand the Chinatown places but nobody carries around $ 40 – 60 in cash. Get with the times!

Terrible service and okay food. It didn’t cost an extravagant amount for Italian cuisine, but the wait time and service really chipped away at the value of our visit. There are so many Italian restaurants in NYC, and they all have better service and more inspired, tastier dishes so I would not recommend coming here. Definitely won’t be returning anytime soon.

I am local and live around the corner from this hopping NY spot. Yes, there’s always a line, you may spot a B rated actor every once in a while, dining here, and the food is good, but it’s not so great that the constant rude attitude makes a worth repeat visits. I moved to this coveted NYC neighborhood a few months ago and have visited Bar PItti on three occasions. The first time, on a January evening, not crowded at all. was good. Once spring arrived and they got busy again with crowds waiting to get a table, the waiters became excessively rude each time I visited. They rush you, make comments like ‘oh you change your mind too much’, ‘why do you make things hard’, ‘if you aren’t ordering anymore, why don’t you convince your friends to pay the check!’. It stopped being cute after the second rude comment made with a half-ass smile. The menu is not extensive, cash only, a bowl of spaghetti for $ 18 is not exactly cheap, you are being rushed out while you are still swallowing your last bite and don’t want to order more, you don’t get the some simple things like red crushed pepper because it is busy and you are making their lives«so difficult»…They act as if they are doing you a favor. no, I’m doing you a favor and paying you. There are many cute restaurants, with great food, and great people watching in NYC. I’ll spend my money at one that will let me eat my food in peace and with pleasure.

I don’t care that I am in NYC. Service is rude. The food was not all that. We were rushed. He grabbed our food before we were done. Took him forever to bring us our requests such as small plates, salad and balsamic vinegar. He made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. We decided to only tip 10 percent tip because of the crappy service. The waiter actually challenged us. What an ass! Never never never coming back. This place royally sucks.

In my top three for downtown Italian spots. It has some of my favorite al dente pasta. I usually get the rigatoni with vodka sauce and peas. This is one of those places that usually has a wait for dinner time but they have benches in front. I feel like it’s one of those«see and be seen» restaurants. I like coming here with friends from out of town to show them a good meal and people watching. It’s quite small and intimate which can have you feeling like your on a date with the other couples nearby. They only take cash which is kind of annoying and I’ve come here a couple of times but I often forget. Also, when they read to you the specials that you are not interested in it can seen like a waste of time. Great food! The service can feel rushed at times but they are quite nice.

Came here with some friends after work and sat outside for dinner on a nice night. We were all really excited after seeing so many pasta pictures on Instagram! A little bit underwhelmed, unfortunately. The burrata was very good but the pasta was lacking. It was good, but couldn’t been better. The biggest problem here was the waitstaff. We felt incredibly rushed because all they wanted to do was turn our table over. We bought 2 bottles of wine and enjoyed hanging out but found ourselves feeling a little anxious because the waiter kept coming over to ask if we decided on our meals, when we were having a good time. Also, my biggest pet peeve is when you are still enjoying your appetizer and your meal arrives, and this happened honestly, I don’t think I’ll be back.

Excellent food, High quality, wonderfully prepared, simple delicious Italian food. I have it 4 starts because they were in a bit of hurry to kick us out and the fish was cold by the time it was served — I must though say it was a busy Friday night and we were sitting outside. Overall ranking excellent and definitely worth a trip

Came here for a Sunday dinner with a craving for Italian. If I lived in the West village I’d say this is a pretty solid local spot and I’d be perfectly fine with what it is. That said Bar Pitti for us was a lackluster experience. The food was good. The menu was what you’d expect from a local place but when we sat down everything felt off. Usually I get really excited for pasta but first and foremost the way they packed in tables was absurd. I get that they couldn’t accommodate out door seating because of the weather but not only was the seating cramped the service felt incredibly rushed and/or understaffed. I also understand burn and turn establishments to keep pace with the high volume of tourists and the bridge and tunnel crew but if you want a place where you can sit down without being rushed out this is not the place for you. Again, the food was good but uninspired even with simple ingredients that most Italian dishes use. On a side note there’s no point in Wait staff reading the specials in Italian that were written in Italian. We basically needed to Google translate all the specials. Bar Pitti was slightly more sophisticated than your avg chicken parm and veal francese places but not by much. This was just a very mediocre experience

Food was 5 stars, but bc of the service I had to give this place 3 stars. Here’s the negatives first. Inside the restaurant is pretty crowded and«intimate.» We had to try pretty hard to get the attention of our server for water refills. We got bread and olive oil(the olive oil was delicious) but no plates… while everyone else around us got plates for their bread. and this place was cash only which made it a little harder for me to order lots of food since I don’t always have a lot of cash on me. The specials menu(which was on ONE chalk board) was quite hard to interpret since it was written in Italian. Positives. My homemade pappardelle was to die for. So delicious!!! And with freshly grated Parmesan. Yum! So good! And that’s the only positive. Delicious food

All day long I’m thinking about getting busy with a plate of fresh spaghetti topped with shaved truffles. Dreaming of shaved truffles. falling like snow flakes. I sit down and this is a *cash only* business? Damn, I’ll have the pasta. Lets get this out of the way, what’s being served at Bar Pitti is authentic, fresh pasta. Not from a box. Not from a chain restaurant. It’s a buncha people steppin’ on grapes and crafting this pasta. It’s the real deal. I ordered a fresh burrata plate to start. Rich and creamy, perfecto! When you walk into Bar Pitti, there is a small bar and its small dining area. Walking to the left is the main dining room. When its springtime, they have table service on the sidewalk which is nice. When it’s 25 degree weather and want to eat here, plan ahead because the dining room has limited seating. The wait staff didn’t have any slip ups like the past reviews. I place my spaghetti order and the woman next to me ordered the damn truffles. I can smell the truffles, that’s how close the tables are, its intoxicating… My pasta plate comes and its pretty sexy. Fresh artichokes and pasta that’s cooked perfecto. You can’t beat Bar Pitti pasta in respect to price point and authenticity. Great meal, the wait staff was pretty good so what’s the issue? When I walked downstairs to use the mens room, I thought maybe they’re having a cesspool problem. I walk in and sure enough, the bathrooms are nasty. This experience ruined a perfect meal.

Rustic cozy place with authentic Italian vibe. The food was delicious albeit very small portions. The spaghetti with truffles. Delicious. Loved the veal meatballs and eggplant appetizers. A party of three girls, 3 appetizers and 4 entrees(3 pasta 1 fish) 2 bottles of wine and a tiramisu dessert(which was excellent) the bill came out to $ 380 including tax. Pretty steep but food was delish. Because portions were tiny was not stuffed. I would give it higher stars but the waiters were all pretty rude and we felt so rushed. I met two of my girlfriends and wanted to catch up but never felt at ease. Had to tell the waiter constantly«yes, we are leaving soon!!!» And even when we were trying to finish our wine after we paid the bill, they kept coming over asking«do you want anything else?!» … And not in the friendliest tone. We ordered a lot and def spent a lot. But seemed like they didn’t care and just wanted to turn over tables as fast as possible. Food good but probably wouldn’t come back for a leisurely or relaxing dinner…

Authentic Italian restaurant serving homemade pastas. Came here with three other friends and we were seated within a few minutes. Our waiter, Maurizio had us laughing and smiling throughout our entire meal. We were exchanging jokes with him, and also had a serious conversation about different cities in Italy. The service was spot on, and the pasta was delicious. You leave Bar Pitti feeling amazing after consuming all those carbs, and you start to think you can actually pick up the Italian language. But you can’t, so you’ll have to come back for more food & another lesson.

Comida e ambiente maravilhosos. Frequentado por famosos de toda esfera. Cuidado apenas com o humor da equipe que é toda italiana e, num dia daqueles, pode tratar todo mundo muito mal. Mas vale a visita, certamente.

Bar pitti offers fresh and tasty Italian food that’s worth the wait. You also have the option of dining al fresco to enjoy the summer night. I highly recommend that you order from the daily special menu. I will start with things that we didn’t like. First, the caprese salad. The mozzarella was hard and resembled plastic. We should have gone for the house made burrata, as people around us appeared to be enjoying it. The only vegetarian pasta option off the everyday menu, Taglierini All Empolese. While it was a good use of artichokes, the dish itself was extremely oily. After we finished it, there was a pool of oil on the bottom. On to the amazing dishes: lobster ravioli(a staple), veal Milanese, eggplant parm and pappardalle with rabbit ragu. We ordered the lobster ravioli as an appetizer because ravioli never seems filling enough as an entrée. It was so creamy and delicious — can you every go wrong with lobster? I was surprised as how good the veal was — thinly sliced and fried to perfection. The slice was as large as a big place(see my pic!) and served with a salad on top. The eggplant parm wasn’t breaded like your typical dish, but was very flavorful. The rabbit ragu was very sweet, though I’m not sure I’d get it again. Also, beware of bones!
