The Man With A Van

He was on time and had friendly guys in his van to help. The «Man» himself has a weird attitude and wasn’t somebody I want to work with again.

Our last-​minute plan to get a couch on craigslist today went off without a hitch. Man With Van was on-​time, professional, and efficient.

This company consists of a crazy German dude and his Mexican side-​kick who gets the job done. I had budgeted 2 hours for my move. We got it done in 50 minutes. They were also 10 minutes early for the job, unlike my previous movers that showed an hour and a half late. I would definitely recommend them.

Avoid these clowns. Absolutely horrible! We hired them for moving and confirmed by phone and email. The appointed hour arrived… and they never showed! No phone call. No email. No answering their phone. No nothing. We took a day off from work and hired a babysitter for this move. Needless to say, money down the toilet. Do not use these people at any cost.

This Man with a Van exceeded all of my expectations. As a New Yorker moving into my 4^th apartment in less than 2 ½ years, I am no stranger to men with vans. I am, however, a stranger to this particular man — after 3 hours of leading me on, he finally confessed that he’s simply not coming. Besides that detail, his pricing exceeded my expectations– while his website says $ 75 an hour, he asked me what I was moving and quoted $ 175 (not bad, but not what he advertises). I am moving the furniture of a 1-​bedroom one block over. This will not take more than 2 hours. He called at noon today (when he was due to arrive) to say he was 15 minutes late & to ask what I was moving. When I repeated it, he accused me of originally telling him I was moving fewer items. Like most New Yorkers, I do not have so much furniture that any piece might slip my mind. He said he’d quoted me for too low of an amount. I called again at 1pm, and he said he was stuck in traffic but would be there soon. No one answered my calls again until 3pm when a different man picked up and said the van was broken. I’m suspect they are out enjoying the beautiful day that I spent waiting in my apartment for their arrival. They said they could come tomorrow… I said something not to be repeated in a public forum.
I’m posting my first Unilocal review just in case karma doesn’t do its job this time. Luckily, I don’t work this Monday and I have one more day left this month to get out of my old apartment. Let’s hope Rob the Movers are as great as they seem to be so far!
