Typical pub. Old setting. Sticky varnish. Great bar tenders! Nothing impressive. Lousy selection of music.

Decent spot, but you need to go at the right time. I only order Guinness basically and sit and watch the TV. There is a lot of seating if you’re with a group. If I was still in college, this could be a cool spot for a night out with a group of friends. There’s a jukebox. Generally a place to drink and possibly watch a local sports game. All the locals go here. They used to advertise live music but I haven’t seen it in a while.

3 stars: I would go back. This is the kind of bar where you can have a conversation without shouting. No music. Neighborhood regulars. Friendly bartenders.

Add Banshee Pub to a list of «So, that happened». With a good selection of whiskeys and beers, and a band, it’s easy to look at your watch when it gets strangely bright in there and realize you just closed the place. Friendly and attentive staff, good crowd — I’ll go back.

Dark and divey Banshee is great little neighborhood bar in the UES. I visited my friend during her first weekend of living in Manhattan and our mission was to find her go-to neighborhood bar. I think we might have found it! We managed to snag seats at the bar even thought it was already pretty late. We chatted with the delightful bartender, whom made our experience even better. Our intention was to simply grab a drink here and hop onto the next. Later on during our stay, we realized the older crowd there. Very low key and dark vibe, even saw some guys in suits. I would definitely come back here, depending on my mood or just for a beer on my own.

Our first stop of the night and it was a great start! The bartender was super friendly. Happy hour ends at 8 and he was kind enough to remind us just before then to order another round. The crowd was friendly and the pub was clean and comfortable.

I this place. Friendly bartenders, great music. Live guitar player singer on Saturday nights and some Fridays. Favorite neighborhood bar

It’s a fine, dive-y Irish pub, and it’s nice that their happy hour runs 4 – 8(a bit later than most places)/ But, if it’s not happy hour, it’ll cost you $ 7 – 8 for a beer, and there isn’t really a great selection. I like the atmosphere here — usually pretty laid back — and the bartenders are friendly. They have live music some nights, which is a plus. That said, it’s never going to be my first choice for somewhere to go. There are better bars in the area.

This place is the definition of a dive bar. It is dark and somewhat dingy inside, but the drinks come quickly and the bartenders friendly. Lots of different types of people come here depending on what night of the week it is. If you’re looking for a fancy cocktail place, this is NOT it. If you’re looking to play darts, socialize, or just sit at the bar and people watch, this is the place! On a side note, they have Delerium Tremens beer on tap. Only bar near my apartment that does! Just make sure you try the beer first to make sure its fresh in the line(some days it does not get poured often and sits in the line too long). I gave this place a 5 star because it lives up to what it was meant to be: local dive bar with cool people, full bar, and dark holes to hide in.

Fun chill rare UES ‘dive’ with darts and cool staff. Prices good too, esp considering locale!

I was in New York for a week doing some business and spent 2 nights hanging out in the Banshee Pub. I thought the beer was good and the atmosphere was cool. If I lived in the UES then this would be a regular spot for me. However, I live in Ireland and it’s too far to get a taxi home! I found it odd but kind of cool that there is only one small restroom/toilet(well, one for men and another for the ladies). Good music played throughout both nights we were there which probably kept us from leaving. I thought it was a very pleasant experience and the staff were really friendly/decent… like all of us Irish people! I would recommend you go here if you want to have a good night.

This is my new favorite place. Not just because it’s close to me but because I’ve always been able to get a seat at the bar. The bartenders are great and remembered who I was after meeting me once. Going for Wednesday night trivia is a good time as well. It can get a little rowdy on some nights but still pretty laid back. This is definitely a neighborhood place. The regulars are great.

We used to come here sometimes when we lived on the UES, and I have to agree with many of the reviews that it’s pretty grimey. The place smells very strongly of bleach and it’s the kind of smell that is so strong and off putting that you can taste it in the drinks(or at least I felt that I could.) The drinks are reasonably priced, but I couldn’t get over the smell/atmosphere.

Agree with Peter R — definitely a bit of a loner/solo crowd. About as low-key and unpretentious as it gets, save for the occasional karaōke star wannabe. By low-key I mean there are no real craft beers on tap — Guinness, Sam Adams, etc. Bartenders are really sweet. My friend and I go here fairly often because they’re good about remembering you and it’s super low-key during the week.

It’s your typical irish pub. The bartenders are great but the crowd is a little suspect. It’s the kind of place where you go to have a drink if you want to be alone and not seen.

Been there for Trivia a bunch of times. Decent Trivia, decent atmosphere. But make sure you leave ATLEAST A 20% tip at the bar, or else Mark will come to your table and single you out for not doing so. I left him 18%(all he gave us was three pitchers of beer) and he came over to yell at us for not tipping him enough.

Great neighborhood bar with many locals/regulars from the area. Friendly and attentive bartenders. Good place to chill. They have dartboards.

For having such a cool name like Banshee Pub(banshees are kind of cool and scary) this place kind of sucks. It’s just your average dirty Irish pub with almost nothing delicious on tap(hey, get with the picture like every other bar and get at least one or two craft beers!). I could live with never visiting this place again.

this is an Eh kind of bar. It really doesnt have anything special that any other bar in the neighborhood has. There aren’t that many options for draft beer and they are 6 bucks each to top it off. Maybe they are trying to keep this bar as quiet and avoid the stumble inn crowd around the corner. Im thinking they should adopt a happy medium. There isn’t a kitchen here so if you want to eat you can order food from anywhere and have it delivered. I guess thats pretty cool but then again, youre eating takeout from another restaurant at a bar.
