This place is a racket — the staff are rude and in my opinion racist(they’ve never been nice or even bothered to greet me despite doing so for other customers), and the prices are quite frankly absurd. Though I live in the neighborhood, after having a number of unpleasant experiences I vowed today I won’t go back!

Complete rip off. Crap selection and charges 3 – 4 times what a legitimate liquor store(Astor Wines on Lafeyette) charges

We stopped by here on a Sunday night where most of other liquor stores were closed. The selection looks decent but the price is definitely expensive!

go for the selection of SAKE, which is very good. I cant compare prices as most stores don’t carry this many options.

Nice place, great selection and the staff was friendly, store is also bigger than i remember. Give it a try the reviews steered me away but when i walked in i was pleasantly surprised.

I wouldn’t go here unless you absolutely have to. It is overpriced and the staff is not that kind. I go because it is so local, but wish there was a better liquor store closer.

This is the liquor store of choice for many an East Village bum, and why not? It’s across from a church with a small park featuring plentiful benches. St. Marks is a two step trot away and the store itself is absolutely covered floor to ceiling in bottles of booze. And hey, if you aren’t a bum and have a home, they do delivery their bar goods to your door for a nominal charge. Over the years I’ve swung through to pick up a bottle on my way to a party or to throw one myself, and prices and service are average. I’d have to agree with some of the other reviewers about the wine selection(and potentially poor storage) but really, this is much more a liquor store than a wine connoisseur destination. So for that, and only that, I’m a fan.

found this place on my way to a dinner, looking for a liquor store for a bottle of wine. i was expecting higher prices considering the location. i was in and out within a matter of two minutes, the guy behind the counter even swapped my bottle out for one in the fridge! thanks dude!

Everyone’s already said it, but let me just concur: –Overpriced –Rude«Service» –Terrible Selection –ALWAYSEFFINOPEN. these people dont believe in holidays –A good place to go if you dont have ID go to Astor or Union SQ Wines, go anywhere else… unless its either Christmas or youre under 21. I live around the corner and hardly pop in.

The vodka I wanted to buy was marked $ 20.99 but came up as $ 22.99 in the system. Even though all the bottles on the shelf were marked 20.99 the salesclerk and an additional employee wouldn’t sell it to me for the marked price. «Sorry this is what it sells in the system.» While $ 2 won’t make or break me, it’s shoddy customer service. If I hadn’t been a hurry I’d have gone somewhere else. Boooooo.

Terrible selection, terrible prices. I don’t see why anyone would go here, unless you don’t want to be carded.

I wish I had the option of ZERO stars because that’s what I would give this place. This place SUCKS!!! Unfortunately, I have lived around the corner from here for quite a while and sometimes, out of desperation, I stop in.(1) they aren’t friendly(2) I don’t think I’ve ever found a decent wine here AND(3) they are over priced. I swear I think they only carry wines from distributors that pay them off. God forbid you ever ask a for a recommendation. The woman that works there doesn’t drink and the guys says«I dunno». STAYAWAYATALLCOST. Go straight to ASTOR for the best wines, great service and great prices!

Totally overpriced and the wine I bought($ 30 for Robert Mondavi???) had turned and was bad. I agree with the underage comment. I have seen kids in there buying alcohol. And it was pretty obvious they were not 21. So unless you are 18 and want to drink vinegar, try another liquor store.

I must be feeling old, because I’ve already started taking offense when I don’t get carded. For gosh sake, I’m 23 and Asian. I could be 16 for all you know, ask for ID! I’ve been here a few times and haven’t been carded once. NYU kids, take note.(Or don’t. Go study.) That said, the selection is decent if not bargain-priced, and the location is convenient enough that if you live in the Village and are bad at planning, you’ll probably end up stopping by. I wasn’t too impressed when I asked the guy working there if they carried Gewürztraminer and he stared at me like I was speaking in tongues, but service is at least friendly. Also, am I wrong, or is this place called Atmi, not Miat? Or is this«mistake» a cover so that Atmi doesn’t have to drink hemlock for corrupting the youth?

What really sucks is this is one of the few liquor stores in the area. This place is OKAY for the convenience. As you can expect, since its the only liquor store near by, their prices are pretty high. Go to Astor Wines & Spirits, its not far from here, has much larger selection, and cheaper. Miat: 750ml vodka $ 20 Astor Wines: 1.5 liter vodka $ 20 Enjoying the extra alcohol at same cost: priceless

No idea why so much hate, Roger W. I negotiated a BYOB with no corkage fee @ Kaleidoscope around the corner before making my way here. We had 33 in my food meetup group that night so we drove them a lot of biz. I got a 720ml bottle of Kurosawa sake for under 20 which isn’t so bad. They were also offering free tastings of Shiraz that night, especially if you break necks(are a hot female). Quite convenient since I find myself in the vicinity more often than not.

Just a block from my place but is so overpriced, I use only as a last resort(they are conveniently open long hours 7 days a week). Nice little store, friendly folks, but you pay almost double what the regular liquor stores in the area charge.
