Popped in for a quick cup of coffee to rest my feet from walking all over Harlem. Quirky place with an eclectic vibe. Wasn’t quite sure where to order, but once I got situated, the coffee was fresh and hot, and the ambiance was just what I was looking for. Some of the staff seemed to be having an ‘animated’ discussion with each other, but I think it added to the character. Still, I could imagine it giving some out-of-towners a jolt. Wayyyy better than Starbucks, and they clearly are passionate about their work.

This place is a good idea for the area but it needs a touch of refining. First the service is frustratingly slow. Second the exhaust system is horrible and you will always leave here smelling like cooked food. The prices are to high, come on 3.75 for a small bottled water, this is Harlem after all. Get it together I like small businesses and I want to see you around for a long time.

Wow, I just left this place with A horrible experience I have ever had, I have been to this place 2 – 3 times because I liked their iced coffee with breakfast. Anyway what happen was that I was going to order and waiting for 10min but no one take care of me, they just taking their tips or talking to some customer who came in after me, So I was complaining to a sever but she never apologized to me, finally o left this place after for 15min waiting with NOTHING, I normally don’t want to comment for saying bad things however, Today!!! I was SUPERSAD by their service with three ladies(servers) I am not going to come this place again unless they would improve their customer cares!!! I know this place used to be Good but no longer… What a waste of my time there today !!!

How long can it take you to make guacamole? 30 to 45 minutes? Really? It’s not rocket science! Anyway that was not the worst part of our hungry-angry lunch at Astor Row(which I had to admit I was fantasizing about the place don’t ask me why). A long half an hour or more. Then the quinoa and hummus wrap which had no quinoa at all and an invisible hummus(they claimed it had hummus… nor at all!). When I told them the issue they didn’t want to do anything about it. No care at all for their customers. I had to claim my money back some I paid for a quinoa and hummus wrap which was simply just lettuce wrapped in a flavorless tortilla. The only good thing about the place was the Cuban sandwich. Bad fries bit good Cubano. Won’t go back to this customer careless place.

This place is not pretentious. No frills. I started to ask for items on the menu. Hot cocoa with saffron? Nope. How about? Uh-uh. What about? Sorry. Ok. I see a pastry. gimme. And that juice. Oh it’s Watermelon Punch. We have a winner. Yippee both the counter girl and yours truly did a happy dance. I like quirky places. I could not figure out that WiFi code for the life of me. But it is a great place to get writing done. And the snacks were yummy.

There’s waaaay too much going on here, not only on the menu but the atmosphere as well. It’s like they’re trying to cater to too many people. Atmosphere — The urban vibe is cool, but then they’ve tried mixing it with erotic art on the walls for sales and a west elm furniture type style. It just clashes and makes it feel cheap and disconnected. As well, the frames and everything are crooked. If you’re looking to study, it’s not really the place to do it. The music is a bit too loud and seems like the workers do it more for them rather than the customers. Menu — the menu is behind the counter with a graffiti style writing that makes some of the options hard to read and difficult to evaluate choices. As well, the setup of the cooking area, etc doesn’t support their menu options for the tools and efficiency that’s really needed. Service — the service isn’t too great when it comes to cleaning up because the area is not only lacking the support and room needed to cook so that leads to the people working not having enough time to clean the tables well and pick up the dirty items left, so they’re often left on the counter. As well, those working don’t seem to be too familiar with their offerings and often rely on asking a head person. All-in-all — 3 stars for a place trying to be unique high end and completely missing the bar by trying to do too much at once. The food is decent when it comes, but everything else just hurts the experience. This place has a lot of potential, so until then I prefer Lenox Coffee a few blocks away.

Great place to go and set up your laptop and get some work done. The wifi works great and the prices aren’t too bad. A DJ came in around 2:30 and played music way too loud for a ‘coffee shop’. I won’t lie the music was actually good but just seemed out of place. Nothing my headphones couldn’t take care of when I was tired of listening. Also the types of chairs used aren’t comfortable at all. I suppose this is so you can get more work done. Last but not least, the air conditioner doesn’t work very well. While it seems I have more bad than good to say, I would recommend the place and definitely be back.

Cute place. Came after work for coffee and a place to rest before a workout class in Marcus Garvey. Nice space to sit. Service was decent. Americano was exactly what I needed. High tops are kind of annoying for doing work, but I wasn’t here that long so it didn’t bug me.

I was recommended to stop by Astor Row Café by my friend who I was staying with in Harlem and he never disappoints. I would highly recommend supporting this family-operated café. My astro garden salad was super fresh and made with locally sourced produce. I also ordered an ice coffee that was powered by a local roaster with some almond milk. All the other food that I saw roll out of the chicken to the other café-goers looked delicious. The space is decorated with art from local artists and is perfect for hanging with friends or to hook up to their free wifi to knock out some work at one of their reclaimed wood tables. I got to chat with one of the family members who was super accommodating and hear about how they got started and the history of astro row. From beginning to end it was a great experience ~ I like to think of it as a ‘local on local sandwich experience’.

Service is impeccable and I don’t use this word often. As an entrepreneur without an office, I frequent this coffee shop to get things done without the busyness of my apt. They are always welcoming, very accommodating and the ppl who work there clearly enjoy working there. If you are hungry I highly recommend the bbq chicken sliders, the guacamole, the fish tacos, and even the truffle fries have a nice flare to them. I enjoy every visit!

Ok coffee but the staff is lazy. I’ve been there twice at 730 ready to get coffee with the store not being open. The outside clearly says open at 7am everyday. That means someone should be there ready to go at 7… not show up at 730 and lazily say, «gimme 15 to open up.»

I have no clue why this is my first review since I’ve been here more times than I can count. My fave barista is gone… :(:(:(Sad face because she was effortlessly amazing, but the ambiance, service, and food is still awesome.

They’ve come a long way since they opened in 2012. But the the service is still a bit slow. The fluorescent lighting is gone. High top tables have appeared with lots more seating. Counters line the walls and windows. The music selection is the bomb! Menu selection has expanded. Try the plantain bread. This is a place I can easily spend several hours. The wifi network is a bit flakey though, so save your work!

Not a bad place. Staff is very friendly. Agree with the fact that the menu is pretty limited. Just some sandwiches, which is I guess what they R going for? Good selections of teas, the gf liked them all. So we go for those. The seating does leave something to be desired. Always enjoy lounges with comfortable couches and somewhere to just spend some time. Chairs are just metal and hard. I guess they R good to keep U awake if u r there to study.

Came here on a Sunday for some coffee… So glad they have almond milk, feel like it’s hard to find places in Harlem with almond milk. The cappuccino was delicious. The place is small yet trendy. I would love to try brunch.

I loooooooooove this place! Have been going here for about 8 months now. This place has a funky, chill, hip vibe. They’ve updated their seating, so now there’s tons of seating for either individual/partner work at the bar-like seating that lines the perimeter of the café or you can sit in a group at one of eight 4-person tables. So, the reason why I cannot give astor row 5 stars: 1. They don’t stock their shelves well. There have been times that they ran out of bread for french toast, mushrooms for the Portobello Burger, two types of tea, and a another food item that I can’t remember. 2. They do have a roach issue here. I have a phobia of roaches, so you would think that this would keep me from coming here. Well, all of the roaches that I have seen have been babies, which don’t scare me as much… however these are the worst kind because they could find their way in your bag and you might carry them bac to your place. Please, please, Astor Row fumigate this place so that I can give you 5 stars, because this place really is fabulous and is the best place to study.
