Appletree 69 Street Market

I’ve been coming to this deli/​grocery store for a few years now and its been decent. They have the cheapest lunch buffet prices in the area and the food is just edible enough to come here to save money, nothing spectacular and nothing to really write about.
But today I purchased a small container of cut watermelon. As I ate one of the top pieces I started to smell something sour. Of course as I look at all the pieces on the bottom, they were all rotten and smelled putrid.
So, I will no longer be buying fruit from this place. Beware of sliced fruit here!
The only reason I still gave the place 2 stars is because it still is the cheapest place to get hot/​cold buffet lunch in the area.
I need mouthwash. And would like a refund. And wouldn’t mind smacking someone too. haha jk.

Do not buy flowers here. They will not guarantee them. Bought flowers here for a friends birthday, the flowers were completely dead in 8 hours. I went back with receipt and was refused any type of reimbursement or compensation. The man at the counter proceeded to yell at me and tell me it was my fault and that I was trying to scam him, and that I didn’t put the flowers in water. Go to a real florist with a guarantee.

wow, their Reuben was a big 3am delicious surprise. Also they have a pretty eclectic (delicious) selection of food (especially sodas) to try. And their reuben is good (although that might be the severely jet lagged crazy talking) I also tried some weird dandelion root something soda?

The only reason I’m not giving this market a 5 is because of the prices, but really when a business is willing to deliver a nail file and a 6 pack of beer at midnight, who can blame them for making a little profit?
Today I bought the roundest, most perfect pumpkin I can remember purchasing! In NYC an afternoon filled with an activity that brings me back to childhood for only $ 12 is hard to find, but after my boyfriend and I picked through the decent selection of pumpkins and found Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin (in shape, not size) we were thrilled. Don’t worry, we left plenty of good choices for you and your friends!

This was my local bodega and it’s pretty high quality for the corner ²⁴⁄₇ deli, I must say. It has a great selection of items, including more gourmet products like specialty teas and bakery goods, and good fresh produce. They always had my caffeine-​free Diet Coke when Walgreen’s was out of it. The counter guy is always smiley and nice and will let it go if you are short a few cents sometimes. They do 24-​hour delivery of sandwiches and food too, which is a serious bonus if you are a night owl like me. They even kept my keys for me when I needed to leave them for someone a few times. The only caveat here is the high prices. But it’s Manhattan and you know you are paying the price for convenience.
My favorite memory of Appletree was the time I got caught talking to this old drunk guy who took some kind of benign interest in me and told me stories for ten minutes or so although I was clearly out the door leaving. But he was sweet and not really a lech so I decided to let it be a Tender New York Moment. Thank you, Drunk Old Guy, and god bless.
