APC Surplus

Stumbled across this by mistake (wrong turn off Hudson)
Didn’t purchase anything, but it’s 50% off the ticket price on (nearly)everything in there… it’s a season out of date (hence the surplus) but a good item of APC is a good item full stop right?
It’s only 30% on the Kanye West collaboration (menswear) and full ticket price on colognes and candles etc
Worth trying and see if you luck out, service was helpful and non pushy

When I went the selection was good but the service was horrible. The young lady at the front was very friendly and helpful but the male that was working the register was very abrupt and rude while I was bringing my merchandise to the register to pay. He treated me like I didn’t know what size I wore telling me are you sure you wear this size cause there’s no refunds so make sure it fits. I had to tell him that this was not my first time purchasing from the company. Love the clothing but will never go back to shop at the surplus store if this guy still is employed there. He wears glasses and talks with a lisp.

Ended up with a few great purchases here but it’s really hit or miss in terms of selection. Friendly service however.

Wait — is this really on sale? I just don’t get why you would go here unless you had some emergency where you needed a pair of APC jeans and didn’t have time to run to the city — because really there is an unnoticeable mark down — and there is hardly any selection. This store makes me sad.

I guess I’m glad APC Surplus is in the neighborhood, even though the selection of stuff for sale is mediocre at best, and I like APC as much as the next person who lives in Williamsburg on purpose. I managed to find a nice waxed canvas jacket here once, and on maybe two other occasions have encountered something I vaguely considered buying for a moment before coming to my senses and realizing it was either A) boring or B) impractical or C) a piece of used, vintage French army surplus, re-​branded and marked up 1100%. APC Surplus is mostly useful if you need new jeans or a candle (both regularly priced, as basically every other reviewer has noted) and don’t want to brave SoHo on a weekend (who does).

It is true that the place is Hit or Miss. But, I had a blast with Hits last summer. A visiting french friend dragged me to its sample sale (how the hell she found this? Apparently, she said APC is still expensive in Paris) and there was a crazy line with a bunch of super cute people (?). It was real chaos in there but, my digging skill shined brightly in that French Revolutionary piles.
100% wool B/​W stripe knit scarf — orig. $ 150 sale $ 20. Longer and thicker than a Boa, I can only wear this and feel like Mary Antoinette. One of kind piece in infalliable french style that I am afraid to wear off. I felt envious eyes on my scarf all thru this winter. How warm? Polar Bear hug~

100% wool, black turtle neck sweater — orig. $ 98 sale — $ 30. Thank you God for giving me the eyes and speed to grab this one in my size in midst of shopoholics. You know how important this piece is for your wordrobe –priceless.
Yes, the working staffs there had emotionless faces but I get it… how hurtful this could be to their SoHo pride watching pieces auctioning off in mass bargain and wrapped out in IKEA sized plastic bags. Pu-​Ha.
I won’t look anything trendy pieces, APC items are made to quality in solid classic/​modern styles that would survive many years. And look for Sample Sales for better inventory and deals.

heard the jeans are good, but i don’t buy apc jeans… maybe i just haven’t tried. mostly interested in the dresses.
anyway, NOT worth the trip. we know why this stuff didn’t sell. and if you have some cute thing you didn’t buy last season (or 2 seasons ago) on the brain, rest assured that you won’t find it here. it really is just the reject merchandise — and so FAR away!!!

This place was really disappointing. I went when it first opened and was disappointed then, but figured I’d give it another try recently.
Nope, still sucks.
It’s pretty funny — the people that worked here had a «holier than thou» attitude which was just ridiculously silly.
I think that the jeans are regular price — boo. You’re better off going to the actual Mercer street store during a sale for pretty much anything APC, including jeans.
