Amazing quantity and quality, friendly staff. Only surprised why it’s so empty everytime we go here! Very reasonable price.

Their Basil Fried Rice and Chicken Curry Puffs are perfect for comfort food. Staff is always friendly. It would be nice if they had a slightly larger brew selection but the Thai beer they do offer is appropriate for the fare.

Every time I travel from Dallas to New York this is my first stop for Thai food. Interior is well decorated with amazing authentic food you won’t be able to find anywhere else. They are filled with amazing staff members and offer superb food quailty with wonderful presentation. It seems like not a lot of people know about this place but if you crave for good thai food, you won’t be disappointed here!

Interesting place. Really recommended. I don’t give 5 starts because the chicken on my disk was little bit hard

A couple of orders from Seamless and I have to say this is the best takeout Thai Food I have had on the UES in a long time. Everything was perfect, arrived quickly and was piping hot. I have walked by this place may times but never thought to try it until I saw it listed on Seamless. They are in a bizarre location. Between 95th and 96th on 1st Avenue on the West Side of the street. Easy to miss. I would definitely stop in next time I am in the area. I believe it is family owned which is a big plus in my book. Highly recommend.

Located on the corner of E 96th Street and 1st Avenue, Andaman is a little away from the clustered restaurant madness of 2nd Avenue. This is both a gift and a curse I suppose, because the restaurant is almost never packed but I’m sure that can’t be good for business. That being said this little place has been around for the 4 years that I’ve been in the neighborhood, and in the cutthroat NYC restaurant business, that has to mean they are doing something right. Getting to the food, which is incredibly reasonably priced, my usual go to is the massaman curry and this place does a great job with it. It’s not the best Thai food I’ve ever had but it is dependable and never fails to hit the spot. Taken more than a few friends here and people have always been content with the food. Service is solid, like I said the place is usually quiet so the waitstaff tend to be attentive and polite. Drinks aren’t bad either and they have decent happy hour specials. Décor is lovely as well and really sets it apart from the other hole in the wall Thai places in the vicinity. In my opinion, Andaman is the best place for a good Thai meal in Yorkville, if not on the whole upper east side. There are a slew of Thai places within a 10 – 15 block radius of it but this one is definitely your best bet!

Definitely a hidden jewel among the Upper East Side. By for one of the best Thai places that I’ve ever been to. Make sure when you get the bad came out to ask for the red chili sauce on the side if you are into hot spicy food. If you do at 10 happy hour definitely try the mango Thai chili margarita its to die for.

Yummy, family-owned and always fresh. It’s on the more expensive side among the Thai restaurants in the area, but I try to support it because the quality is good. Their pad see ew is really good, and so is their peanut tofu. Appetizers are a solid selection.

Went here for the first time for my nephews graduation brunch. The food is simply amazing, we had the Andaman Dumplings, the Bags of Golds, Calamari Pad Thai, the Swan, to name a few. Everything was superb. There was an issue with there only being one waitress but then again we were not in any rush so it did not matter that much. The drinks were great as well, had the Thai Iced Tea and the waitress’ special granita. Absolutely recommend and can’t wait to go back!

I ordered from here twice and was super underwhelmed. Pad see ew is my favorite and they don’t do it right. They have broccoli instead of the leafy broccoli rabe. The noodle is very plain and sad.

I don’t know what’s up with these poor reviews. Do people not enjoy food? I’ve ordered delivery from here for years and it is the best — large portions, arrives hot, super delicious. The tofu is always fried to chewy perfection and the veggies are fresh and plentiful. My faves are the panang curry, massaman curry, and noodles — ALLTHENOODLES. Prices are great considering the quality and quantity. Dining at their place on First is relaxing — always good tunes, dark, cool atmosphere, and attentive service. The food comes out fast and hot! This is BYFAR my favorite Thai place and I eat a lot of Thai. Just go try it. Don’t listen to the haters. Upper East Siders are a whiny lot by nature and this is some dang good noms.

I just had a take out from Adaman, the Massaman Curry. The chicken didn’t taste fresh and the sauce was way too sweet. I couldn’t eat more than 2 bites.

Good but not great family run Thai place. This place is a solid 3.5 stars. It is located on a more secluded street of Yorkville. Pretty small place with a few tables inside. The food is authentic but is of slightly lesser quality than some of the other Thai places in the neighborhood. For example, the green curry tasted blander than comparable ones I’ve had. Also, I tried a couple different dishes with chicken and the chicken meat was a bit dry and rubbery, even when it was covered in a curry.

I was working around Metropolitan hospital and decided to give this place a try. I don’t know how this place has 3.5 stars, 3 at best. I would give this place a 2.5 stars but the food was really salty. Food: do not get the red curry… I repeat do not get the red curry… well actually, get the red curry if you plan on drinking a gallon of water and still feeling thirsty. Talk about no flavor just salt. Yuckie! Worst red curry chicken ever and I even told the waitress, who seemed to not care. The lunch specials are decently priced, although it’s pretty cheap that they don’t offer tom yum soup as an option or even for an additional charge. I’m used to going to Thai places with better options for lunch. The Thai iced tea was average. Service: decent… the waitress/cashier/bartender was pretty nice and very pretty, but looks bored out of her mind and unenthusiastic about anything. Ambiance: I think they were going for a lounge feel but it kind of seems dark and dingy. They do play good trance music though. I would not recommend this place…

Andaman is hidden in first avenue and you could literally walk right past it… but you shouldn’t. Go in! Looking for something not too heavy after a late afternoon work out we decided to try Andaman. For appetizers we started with the vegetable dumplings and the chicken satay. Now when I ordered vegetable dumplings I didn’t expect anything glamorous and even when the dumplings arrived I questioned why I only got two. Well let me tell you their two veggie dumplings were more than enough and they were so delicious. The dumpling wrap was moist and soft and my dumpling was over stuffed with leeks… they were literally busting out of the wrap. I couldn’t even eat all of both, I ended up sharing them with my friend. She ordered the chicken satay and again yummy. Both apps came with two great side sauces that completed the taste. For our main course I tried the flounder in mango sauce(as per my waiter’s recommendation). Ughh what can I say besides tasty! My flounder was fried but not greasy oily fried it was still light and airy and actually felt like it was good for you to eat. lol. It came with a mango, tomato, red onion lime sauce and I couldn’t get enough of it. The portion size was plenty, so much in fact that I ended up bringing half of it home. The other main course was the spicy chicken basil. The dish was surprising in the fact that it was ground chicken. It was so flavorful and moist. That combined with vegetables over rice made it such a hearty meal that should go on anyone’s list for comfort food. Again the spicy chicken wasn’t heavy or greasy, still light and a huge portion. My friend ordered the Spicy mango margarita… Boy does it have a kick to it! It was a strong drink but still good and the liquor didn’t take over your palate. Overall, our experience was great. We were able to eat a filling lunch and not feel guilty about it. The food tasted super fresh and you can tell was made to order. Andaman does not skimp on the quality of the food and that’s great when in NYC. The prices were reasonable and really you get great sized meals. There’s a 10% discount on apps and entrees at the moment so go ahead and check it out.

A large group of us came in on Tuesday and we were accommodated pretty quickly, although for some reason there was a hold up to see if they could seat all of us. even though the place was nearly empty. Our waiter, was clearly new to the job but he was really quick and friendly and didn’t mind separating drink orders with food orders. I split the Andaman shrimp with a friend of mine and was pleasantly surprised with the size of the shrimp, especially since it was an appetizer. I got the Duck Chu-chee which is red thicker red curry that’s less spiced. I thought it was pretty good. The curry was pretty good and it went well with the duck, overall it’s a pretty good Thai spot even though it’s a little out of the way.

Such a great thai restaurant. It is located near a gas station and the outside looks shabby, but once you enter it is such a beauty. The food was really great and yummy. Only thing I did not like was they did not have fried rice as a side order(BOO!) The duck was incredibly soft and delish. Basil fried rice was just as good. Def reccommed!

It’s hard to find this spot as you basically need to walk up 1st Ave near the gas stations. But, one of the most authentic and yummy Thai places around. Perhaps better for take out though as the interior is a bit dark and dusty? There were not many people dining at 8pm on Wed and so only 2 people working literally– they made mistakes(like it took a while to cook, and they brought us the wrong salad– Thai not Papaya) but there were really hard working(refilled waters as best they could, etc) The food is really spot on, though. I ordered the traditional Pad Thai(it was a toss up between that and the Pad Ki Meow– which is Drunken Noodle). The Pad Thai was not too sour/tamarind-y and had a great balance of flavors. It was also plentiful for $ 13– I got mine with shrimp, you can get it with beef, calamari, chicken and tofu… etc. Bf ordered the cashew chicken sautee– it was spicy but the right amount of heat. It was a standard but tasty stir fry– with peppers, mushrooms, string beans, etc. I didn’t taste too much cashew actually. He got it with brown rice(versus white). We both shared the papaya salad, which was really good. Fresh and plentiful and not too spicy like some of those out there. I dig the strong fish sauce flavor. I would definitely order from here in the future.
