I went to Lowe’s for some cabinet hardware – they didn’t have it. This small friendly store had exactly what I needed and the salesman gave me some installation tips!

Not the most competitive on price but ok. They’re a neighborhood place with a decent selection and usually have the item needed to solve a pressing problem. It’s not Home Depot but they don’t pretend to be. In my experience, service is fine.

This is the closest hardware store to my apartment, so when I need something fast this is my solution.
They keep a good stock of the everyday items a Manhattanite may need, but you could get most things cheaper at Home Depot.

The older gentleman up front with white hair is extremely rude and angry. He did know how to find some light bulbs for me even though I had the numbers and pictures. Since he was uninformed he was frustrated and threw me out! I told him my entire building will not do business with him and he didn’t care.

Horrible people running this store… please do not shop here!!!
This store was ripping people off prior to Hurricane Irene by charging $ 100 for a basic flashlight. Absolutely ridiculous. I strongly urge people not to spend money at a store that has no problem taking advantage of others like that.

Pretty good hardware store with that makes keys on site and also has some locksmith services. I once locked myself out of my apartment and then had no way of getting in. Amsterdam Hardware came to the rescue and $ 200 came out of my wallet. However, the service was good.
Pretty much my only beef with them is that they are quick to close on weekends, so don’t expect them to be open 10 minutes until their advertised closing time on a Saturday.
