Expensive drinks and tables but the service is great, the atmosphere is friendly and laid back(although you will find a lot of people who take pool seriously!) and a great alternative to a night out! There are darts, foosball tables and beer pong tables without the seediness. Tables are paid by time in 30 min slots so you can get ripped off if you don’t watch the time. Sports showing on all TVs is a good saturday night if the football is on and you partners doesn’t want to be pulled away from the TV but you still want something to do at night :)

There’s a friendly and high-caliber array of pool players here. The tables are well-maintained with ample room to play. I’d recommend this pool hall for anyone trying to improve their game.

I love this place! Very friendly and helpful. The staff became my best friends. To top it off every Sunday they show The Walking Dead!!! Several televisions all around every place you sit you have a wonderful view, and with speakers. Drinks were great and very reasonable. Very clean and comfortable. I’m from Miami but will definitely visit every time I’m in NY. William and Katherine are the bomb

Great time with my boys. Great staff we started at the bar then shot some pool. This place gets pack but still very spacious. If you want to shoot pool downtown Amsterdam is the place to be.

this is my 1st time here. I came prior to a show at Webster Hall, not knowing anything in the area. The«blonde bartender» was so nice, so accommodating, so personable to me and everyone around me. I observed her with other patrons and she was terrific. I don’t even know her name, but she was great. Can’t ask for anything more.

This used to be my favorite pool hall until last night. The bartender(the one with blonde hair) has the nastiest attitude. The manager was trying to give good customer service by diffusing the situation but she ruined a good night. Never going back there again.

The hours(hours posted on the door) say they are open until 3am on weekdays. Make sure you get there by a 1:30am at the latest. We got there tonight shortly before 2am and we were not let in. Waste of a cab ride. Post your actual hours. Very disappointed.

Amazing Time with the Crew on Sunday’s! The manager at the desk is most sexy with the drinks! Watching the Walking Dead with William Fuentes and drinking Scotch is the best Sunday comfort money can buy!

My sister and I were looking for a place to play pool after her favorite spot closed and we were pleasantly surprised when we found Amsterdam Billiards. However, we were arrived we were told that they had open tables but were given a buzzer and we waited about 25 – 30 minutes before getting an actual table. We didn’t mind too much that night because we were able to watch the US Open on the television but any other night and I would’ve been slightly annoyed. Once we got a table, the waitress came by to get our drink orders and she was very nice and quick to get our drinks. The drinks were kind of expensive. They charge by the hour and we paid at the end of playing. The crowd was a pretty cool crowd. No one was too rowdy and everyone just had a great time.

Used to really like this place until I found society billiards & bar. Descend table and cubes, close to school. Many old gentlemen though, not sure if it’s because of the time I went(in the afternoon)

Good prices on pool tables. I only stayed a little over an hour. My lady friend and I had a blast. The server was friendly and courteous. The drinks were ok a bit pricey but not too bad. I would come here again with more friends. This place seems more fit for large groups than couples.

Great prices on pool tables. After the first hour, the rest is prorated so if you want to play an hour and a half you don’t end up paying a ton extra. Waitresses were attentive and friendly and it was convenient to pay for drinks and table at the same time instead of two separate checks. Pool sticks weren’t the greatest(I’m no expert so I only know what I’ve been told ha!) but they worked over for a newb like myself.

My friend/tour guide to New York told me we were gonna go to a bar and play pool. I’m no stranger to bars and pool tables, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was not just a casual bar with bar sized tables. This is a legitimate pool table with 20+ regulation sized tables. I was also really excited to find out that it’s home to the Black Widow and many other professional players who play on a secret table in the back. Even though there looked to be se really serious players here, the atmosphere was still inviting to casual players like myself. The host was super nice and friendly, and there were other bar games to play while we waited for an open table. It is very expensive to play here in a group though because they charge per person per hour.

Staff is extremely rude. This occurred both times I went. Once with a blond waitress and the second and more alarming time with a shorter brunette waitress who flipped out at me when I took a chip from a basket that supposedly belonged to a table(how I was suppose to know that this particular basket belonged to someone when there was a sea of similar chip baskets on the bar — I must be stupid right?). I will not be returning which is a shame for ownership because I’m a competitive pool player, I liked the bar, and I would have potentially been in there twice a week spending cash on tables and beer. I will give my business to Society Pool. I see from the reviews I am not the only person who has been treated poorly by the staff. Shame.

Came here to play billiard on a Sunday late afternoon. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes, ordered drinks at the bar to kill time, but no availability still. We left without satisfying our desire to play billiard. They said it was«League Night» so there was more interest than usual. I would recommend making reservation early on before just showing up and waiting aimlessly.

I’ve walked by this place many times before but decided to stop in because it was the only pool hall I knew of in that area. The atmosphere is very swanky and cool. I love the fact that they play really mellow music. Definitely not a rowdy dive bar place at all. The drinks were expensive so we just had beers($ 6 for a bud light and $ 11 for fancy craft beer). I was really REALLY happy to see the bowls of communal munchies at the bar. Not many places have them now! To play pool was $ 10 per person, per game. Kind of pricey, but the guy ended up only charging us $ 6.50 because we had to leave 5 minutes before our hour was up. I thought that was really nice of him. The pool tables themselves were the larger ones. I wish they had a few smaller table options for us amateurs, but it was fun playing on a new table. I give this place a 4 star because it’s not exactly in a touristy area, yet their prices are about the same as bowling in Times Square.

Balls & sticks everywhere! Stumbled upon this place on a wandering booze night and asked for a table near a power outlet as my phone was pretty much dead. Staff easily set me up near an outlet and had an amazing playlist going. Place was huge, something I certainly didn’t expect in NYC. Definitely a great hangout to visit and only gonna cost about $ 10 and hour.

Pretty cool and very large space that has moved from the UWS. There are lots of comfy couches to lounge on in between the pool tables. The drinks were a bit on the expensive side for a pool hall. Beers were served by the bottle, not drafts and there were four cocktails on the menu ranging from $ 11 to $ 14. I found a Shiraz that I really liked so I stuck with that all evening. Music was top 40 all night. Despite how big the space was, I was surprised that there was only the one bar in the front right as you walk in. Some of the guys I went with wanted to play beer pong and the fee for that was to buy a $ 25 bucket. I caught a glimpse of the beer pong table and it was pretty neat! It lit up and had actual spots for the cups.
