I asked the cashier what the cost of my lightbulbs would be and he said 5.30. He then charged me 6.99 without even mentioning that he just lied. Rude staff.

FYI for theatre people– if you need last minute gaff, spike, and/​or glow tape, they have a wide variety of colors near the very front of the store (they even have some displayed in the window). It’s great for emergency re-​stocking of your kit.

Found everything I needed here– a sample size of white paint, artist brushes, sandpaper in a few sizes, and a copies of keys. The only high price items were the key copies because they were big apartment ones. Everything else was well priced! Staff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommend! Felix is great :)

I’m SO lucky to have a hardware store right around the corner. Since I am getting ready to move to a new apartment, I stopped by earlier to grab packing tape and thought that would be it. Instead I remembered some items that I needed (i.e. Drano and scissors). The customer service was top notch and my friend and I had several guys ask us if we needed any help finding what we needed. Reno took us around the store and provided helpful recommendations. On top of that, we noticed the WIDE selection and I definitely made a mental note to come back again soon. Thank you Reno for all your help and amazing customer service!

A bastion of authenticity in this ever-​evolving stretch of Hell’s Kitchen. Their motto is «If we don’t HAVE it, you don’t NEED it» — and judging from the jam-​packed store, walls adorned floor to ceiling with their wares, I’d believe it!

These guys are were great. Reno was very helpful and Bo helped us cross over paint colors for our new apartment. Very helpful and friendly. They were close, convenient, and helpful. Prices we fine not cheap but we needed close and quick so we were very satisfied. Thank you

Sole started to separate from my wife’s new pair of shoes while visiting NYC. We were looking for a shoe repair store when walked past this hardware store. Went in, people very nice and friendly. Bought superglue. Shoe repair perfect. I think little hardware store like this need to be supported.

I have never used a drill. I went in to the store yesterday to purchase a drill. The guys were super helpful about it but kept trying to pressure me into buying more parts for it. The owner in the back didn’t even tell me that I needed a chuck key and the drill bits. Someone else had to tell me that I needed these things.
I came home and tried to drill something into the wall and realized I really didn’t want this piece of equipment. After some googling, I found out the drills they sold were cheap and awful pieces of equipment. I then called the owner and said I only used it once and was never going to use it again. They told me tough luck and that it didn’t matter. Worst customer service ever!

Needed electrical tape, got electrical tape. Very convenient location (think about that before whining about the price people! Or just go to the 23^rd St Home Depot…) and friendly dude behind the counter.

I’m a Production Assistant in various venues on Broadway, so I’m often going to four or five different hardware stores a day. This place is by far my favorite in the city. They have a little of everything, and if it’s something I don’t need that very day, they offer to order it for me. If they know I could find it at Home Depot, they tell me. And the Depots in town are lovely too… but I’ll check here first 9 times out of 10.

Got what I wanted, had questions answered, friendly, helpful staff, would go back in a heartbeat for keys, paint, candles and so much more.

Be ready to cheated into paying 4 times what you’d pay at Home Depot down the road. On top of that, extremely rude service by mostly it Russian owners. Stay away at all cost!!!

Very rude manager, didn’t want to refund me for a broken iPhone cable I bought from there. Don’t go there ever.

This place is terrible, prices are completely arbitrary and made up on the fly at the register. Basic items are way over priced.

Rude and arrogant staff!!!
I wanted to make two copies of a simple apartment key. First time the older Russian guy made them (I think he is the owner), both copies did not turn the lock. I went back and asked them to make another copy. The same guy made another copy without even saying I’m sorry. Guess what, the keys did not work again! I came back the 2^nd time and this time a young employee was friendly enough and said that he is the «key master» and this time it should work. Well I went back to my apartment and only one of the two keys worked. I was fed up with their key making ability and when I came back for the 3^rd time to the store I asked for the money back for the key that did not fit. This time I saw the older lady at the counter (the wife of the owner) who accused me that I am lying that the keys don’t fit. She said that it’s up to her to decide if she should refund me the money and she said she would not. Fortunately her son who works there came to the front, looked at the keys and admitted there was a mistake and gave me the money back telling her to be quiet. But as I was leaving, the woman yelled «don’t come back to the store again.»
Please do yourself a favor and don’t make keys in that store! And if you get anything else there, based on my experience you will not get good customer service.

The WORST.
I went in to have a couple of keys copied and when they told me the price I reconsidered and asked for the keys back. I knew I could copy them for much cheaper elsewhere.
This did not sit well with the woman at the register, and as I was leaving she literally yelled for me to never come back to the store.
Don’t worry, ma’am, I won’t.

This place is awesome. This place looks so small from outside but when you step inside you can really see what they have to offer, which is a lot. Got my Leatherman Wave here and the dude even discounted the price on the spot to $ 90 when I mentioned it seemed like a lot of money. I wish I had this type of hardware store near my apartment so I would not have to trek to home depot every time I need something small that a regular hardware store would/​should have locally. This place is a niche place because its located in such a populated place in Manhattan yet still seem to keep very busy amongst the Chipotle and hustle and bustle of the midtown area. You are better off going into the store personally than trying to get help for a specific product over the phone because they will ask you to come in and look anyway which I thought was weird.

Convenient? Yes, but anytime I happen back over to this store I alway leave feeling (to say it politely) like I just got ripped off.
Save your visits for ultra emergencies and then think about it one more time before venturing over.

Awful.. Its 2.50 a key oops no its 7 usd a key he says…20 mins later we don’t have this key.
Don’t cut keys here… rubbish.
