Bartender tried to take my drink away twice. Both times I had to tell him I was not finished. The second time he responds that I was not allowed to leave my drink on the bar. I tell him«I’m not trying to be a jerk, just want my drink back». He immediately becomes furious, asked me what I said, I repeat, and he comes flying from behind the bar trying to fight me until his bouncer grabs me and shoves me through a crowd of people, knocking every girl on the way out. First off — real tough getting in my face and having your bouncer shove me out the door. Way to flex your muscles. Second off — I had just squashed an issue with you an another customer 2 mins prior by paying for the shot you never gave her, and I still tipped you. These guys are a bunch of jokes. The outdoor bouncer is cool and even asked me what happened. I told him and he actually sided with me, shook his head as if this has happened before, and asked if I wanted to go back in. Luckily I have a real career and didn’t engage with these guys. It was so pathetic that I did not know how to even react. I will continue to post this review everyday so people are not at risk of getting arrested because these guys don’t understand English and didn’t realize I was defusing the situation and the best part of this entire review, that was my first drink of the night! Avoid this place. It’s a COMPLETEJOKE. I will be disputing my credit card charge tomorrow.

I played here with my band. Majority of the NYC bar venues we play at they give us a token/ticket/etc. for 1 or 2 free drinks. These guys didn’t. I’m not saying every bar should give us a free drink! That would be ridiculous, its just what the bars i’ve played at have done for the bands. They did give us a small discount which was nice of them. But this isn’t my complaint When I checked in on Unilocal for this bar, I got a «1 free drink» which anyone would be like«hey cool!» So i showed it to them and i was given my drink(after he swiped my hand/phone away and asking what i wanted) Now at that point i told my fellow Unilocalers about the deal and a few of them did the same promotion but many of my friends were given a hard time about it and ultimately rejected by the agitated bartender. I guess I can understand if its a lot of people and most of that night’s customers but it wasn’t. As for a venue, its a small basement-like setting thats personal and good for an acoustic set.

Has a $ 5 cover to enter what is basically a frat party, except with old, fat people who are not as cool and keep trying to grab at your ass. I just got a generally creepy vibe from some of the other people who were there. The venue is also obnoxiously loud and I think the alcoholic drinks were pretty«watered down» — really not worth it. I recommend that you go to one of the many other clubs in the East Village /LES.

Having a pretty pleasurable time at this place. Decent music and good service at the bar. Nice if you are wanting to have a relaxing, chill, low key time.

SO crowded. If you’re over 30 I don’t recommend coming here. It’s a super young crowd and as other people put it, fratty. I put 3 stars because they play the music right. If there were even 10 – 15 less people in the bar it would make for a way more fun atmosphere! It’s just overcrowded and not worth it if you’re not decently drunk.

Came here friday night 7÷17÷2015 for my friends bday that was the day before16th. We got here like around 11pm the place was not lively no one was there. But I bought a glass of wine n was charged $ 12. After we decide to go to a hookah Lounge up the block meanwhile. We smoked and lounge for 15 min… then came back the club it was packed with collage kids drunk n outta control. I bought another wine for my friend n I. It came up to $ 18. Which means I was over charged for the frist wine but I left that alone n didn’t say nothing cuz it was only a few dollars. Had fun n went home cuz I always do regardless. I had a great time here for my friend’s birthday. The music is a good mix of old and new, and the crowd can get lively. I also want to mention that after I had cut my foot from my friend dropping his glass, the bar-back responded like a nurse! He was super helpful and I felt like he cared. Will definitely be back!

Came here last weekend! What a great environment! That had everything I was looking for, great crowd, great music, reasonable prices on drinks with great bartenders and tons of women. Needles to say I will be back again

Possibly the worst bar in Manhattan. $ 5 cover to enter a frat basement grind party. Probably pretty sweet if you’re 19, otherwise avoid.

Beware of this places pricing. Make sure you ask before you order. They like to change their prices and it’s never on low end! That’s after paying a cover charge. There really is nothing positive I can say about this place other than the great restaurants and bars that surround it. Makes walking out a lot easier!

Me and friends were in the alphabet city neighborhood and decided to check out different spots there. Well I didn’t expect much from Alphabet lounge but we actually spent there almost the whole night — because the music was really great! Now it’s one of my fav spots!

One of my least favorites in the city. If you like underage bros acting like the scum of the earth then this is the place for you! It pretty much feels like an overpacked subway car the entire time and we left after about 5 minutes after failing to make any progress to the bar. Watch your belongings here — some people have sticky fingers.

Fantastic! Really great vibe and music. The DJ was amazing, playing all of your favorite songs from the 80’s and 90’s. The bartenders were really friendly and outgoing. Perfect place for a private party bachelor, or bachelorette party. Probably the best spot in the neighborhood. Good times all around!

Love Alphabet lounge. Unsuspecting on the outside, inside it gets a big crowd and it always leads to a great night. In fact, I had my going away party there when I moved from NYC to Charleston earlier this year and it was one of the best parties I’ve ever had Management was incredibly helpful and accommodating, making sure we were good through the night. Above anything else though, awesome DJ. I don’t do house music, if I’m out with my friends I want to dance to songs you can actually dance to, and the DJ hits it out of the park in this regard. Plays all kinds of music that mesh well together and make you want to have the best time. I love places where you know the songs and the words and the DJ does an awesome mix. Honestly, just an overall solid NY spot to have a great time with friends and drink and dance.

DONOTGOHERE. This place is as shady as they come. I was there for less than five minutes and was pick pocketed… only to find FIFTEEN other people that night had stuff stolen from them as well. There was a crowd of more than a dozen women who had things stolen from them, and the bouncer did nothing. I guess that’s what you get for going to a bar like this. STAYAWAY.

My phone and the phones of at least 10 other girls were stolen tonight. This wasn’t a ‘we were being irresponsible’ situation, they were taken out of bags. Several of my other friends, after this happened, moved their phones to pant/coat pockets and also found their purses unzipped not by their doing. Management was EXTREMELYUNHELPFUL. You have so many people outside at one time saying they were robbed and your answer is to do nothing? That is ridiculous. This happened within the span of 15 – 20 minutes for everyone, the individual was likely still inside and the situation could have been remedied with a swift response. I will absolutely be filing official reports wherever possible. STAYFARAWAYFROMTHISSHITHOLE.

This place sucks! The fact that they even have a cover is ridiculous and the drinks are way over priced and are literally juice! Music sucks as well, yes is dance music but DJ is not good at mixing and cuts songs short. This place is basically for the douchey guy who wants to find a hook up with a drunk girl but for real dancing and good drinks go somewhere else.

Oh, is this place still open… Why? How, even? In my experience, I have found the following at Alphabet Lounge: overpriced drinks, inattentive and gruff bartenders, an ambiance utterly devoid of character and charm, and douchebros. I’m not here to slander anyone in a Unilocal review, but I also want to add that as far as «entertainment» is concerned, Alphabet Lounge partners with some of the lowest-rent bottom-feeding«promoters» in this city, artless hacks who provide a steady stream of out-of-town bands, often very young and impressionable, making their first forays into NYC gigging, who thereby just don’t know any better than to avoid this place. The room is really not equipped for live music. There is no backline whatsoever, and the acoustics are horrendous. Maybe some of their other«entertainment» partners are very nice people who are honest in their business dealings and don’t charge $ 10 just to see four out-of-town bands no one has heard of except for the musicians’ friends who moved to NYC after college. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I once saw a band play here, and afterwards, the bartender refused to give the drummer a glass of water. All the kid wanted was a glass of tap water after playing a 30-minute set. The bartender said he had to buy a bottle of water. I’m not going to tell you what to do, but you might want to do something else with your time and money.
