Alan Levy, DC

Dr. Levy is among the rare breed of chiropractors who can be life changing. I began seeing him after being hit by a car years ago, (an experience which led me first to several chiropractors more skilled in business /​sales than actual adjustments). Dr Levy is the opposite of that — one adjustment from him is so helpful. After seeing him for a few months, I felt much better than I had before the accident — I’d had chronic shoulder pain for years, that healed tremendously from Dr Levy’s work. He takes time to ask about your life, and when he adjusts he takes time to see how it feels, and keeps going til there’s noticeable improvement. I look forward to seeing him the next time I’m in NY. In the meantime I’ve found another exceptional chiropractor in San Francisco (Dr Alex Callister), whose style & care remind me of Dr Levy, which is a big part of why I felt comfortable with him. If you’re considering seeing Dr Levy, you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been seeing a chiropractor since 1986, I guess; I first walked into a new practice on a Saturday with a wrist injury and the kind doctor found I had more serious problems (sequelae of a motor vehicle accident in 1981) that needed to be addressed. Amazing; changed my life – even got me walking more like a normal person again. Even more important, because of her keeping my neck adjusted, I was able to quit the meds that were making me suicidal and get on with my life.
Unfortunately, that chiro had an injury that left her unable to practice and I saw her associate for a few years before I found Dr. Levy.
Dr. Levy is great; I’ve been seeing him for several years, and always, always leave feeling better. He’s able to treat injuries with gentle manipulation of the bones that medical doctors would put in a cast and prescribe drugs. Also, though, if he were unable to treat a condition for any reason, he’d refer the patient to an appropriate doctor, not bluff his way through it.
He was with the space program in the 60s – worked for NASA – then had a life-​changing revelation that led to a major career change.
He’s in the office Monday thru Thursday and accepts Medicare. I highly recommend him; a monthly adjustment keeps me from needing more serious, costly work done. (Why four stars instead of five? He smiles all the time!)
