Omg. How much time do you have?
Short version:
booking travel with them runs a high risk of ruining your entire vacation (if reaching the destination was an important part of the plan). I used them once in 2010 without problems. I booked again in 2014, hoping the bad reviews were just flukes. Nope. This guy is willing to ruin your plans and charge you handsomely for the privilege.
Long version:
took forever to confirm with me on phone if they will be making the trip that day. Seemed to depend on the number of people booking (funny, i would think the vehicle size would depend on that, not the trip status– how is one to plan otherwise?). Then he tells me it is on. Then a few days before the trip, he gets wishy washy and cancels the night before the trip, claiming bad storms and that the subsequent ferry service to block island (not provided by them) was cancelled anyway. I later determined this was a lie by calling the ferry service directly.
I rescehduled with him for the next day. He said he could do a pick up near me. But he never gave me the address or confirmed the one I suggested, nor did he tell me where the regular pick up would be (east or west side of Manhattan, it varies). At 3 am, a few hours before the scheduled departure, my phone rings a bunch of times. I don’t hear it, because by then I’ve written him off and bought Amtrak tickets. Later, I call, demanding a refund because i didn’t know where to go or even if the trip was happening, since he has poor confirmation skills and a history of last minute cancellations. He says haughtily, «you could have gone to the regular pick up point like everyone else! This is the end of the conversation!» and hangs up on me. Honestly, such unprofessional behavior is too laughable to be offensive.
I got AmEx to do a chargeback. I also blacklisted them like the reviewer Byron suggested (thanks)
Do yourself a favor and pay a few hundred dollars more and book your travel with a reputable company. This guy is more like a temperamental, flaky relative than a businessman.

Called to verify 2 reservations. Not only was the guy who took my call a nasty schmuck, but based on these other reviewers comments, I’m sure he was lying regarding their system crashing and dumping my reservations! Time to get the BBB onto these guys!

This seems to be a scam. $ 180 pre-​paid for a bus ticket. They cancelled on me 30 minutes before a scheduled departure for a 6 hour trip to Vermont. Two weeks later and my calls and emails have not been answered. About to dispute the charge with the card company.

Eddie is a scumbag. This service is a scam. No clue how this company has been allowed to continue to operate. After I write this review, I’ll be promptly reporting them to the BBB. Treat you like they’re doing you a favor and you should be licking their boots. Then cancel on you at the very last minute leaving you completely stranded without an alternative. DO NOT USE ADVENTURE NORTHEAST.

As usual, I’m so sorry when I don’t look up reviews on Unilocal before booking. A testament to the power of a group to accurately rate a company, I was so happy to see that this horrible business had received only one star across the board. Unfortunately, I only looked up the reviews AFTER my awful experience with them.
I called and emailed the company several times to try and reserve seats for a group going up to a wedding on Martha’s vineyard. The initial contact was 5 — 6 weeks before the event. I supplied the names of everyone involved through email. Since we were all paying individually, I emailed the company to see if anyone hadn’t yet paid 1 – 2 weeks later and immediately contacted the three people who hadn’t yet paid — they emailed their credit card information the next day.
When I emailed to check the everything was confirmed two days before we were set to leave, Ed said that he had never received the three credit cards and he would only take 8 people. I explained that this wasn’t possible and that one of the people was a groomsman in the wedding. I then forwarded the emails showing that they had sent in their payment weeks ago.
Ed said that he had not received their credit card emails and, in fact, also hadn’t received one of the emails I had forwarded just minutes before. When I responded that he must have horrible email, that this was bad service and that we needed to find a solution, he responded that there was nothing to do and hung up on me. I called back and he hung up again. Five minutes later, as I was frantically looking up bus tickets, Ed called back and said, «So, what are those guys going to do? Are they going to take a bus up?» I asked if there was anything Adventure NE could do to help and Ed began yelling, «I already told you no! All of our cars are booked!» and I ended the phone call. Ed then called back, said that I was a danger to the driver and said that I was kicked off of the van.
From the seven friends that did take the van I heard the following:
«A fat bug crawled in my butt when we first got in. It is comically awful.»
«There are exposed wires in the van.»
«This van is disgusting.»
«You should be happy you took the bus.»
«There is no way you would have fit in the mini-​van. He must have realized that he miscounted seats and kicked you off because there was no way to take you up.»
The worst service I have ever experienced. Absolutely awful.

Unprofessional, unreliable, and terrible customer service. My advice to anyone reading this is to be wary of booking transportation with this company. I made a reservation for a seat on one of their buses operating from NYC to VT after confirming on the phone that the schedule listed online was accurate. Two days before my scheduled travel I called several times because I was concerned that I still had not received any kind of confirmation. No answer. Called again the following day in the a.m. to which I got the response «confirmations are sent out via email the night before your travel» and that everything was fine. Nearly 9PM rolls around with still no confirmation and then I receive a call from them explaining that everyone else on the bus I booked to catch had cancelled (seems odd right?) and that they weren’t going to run the bus for just one person! And that I would have to find other arrangements to get back to NYC. I get this news THE NIGHT BEFORE I travel and ended up having to spend a great deal of money and time in order to get back into NYC the following day. The company was extremely unsympathetic and I was shocked that they would do this to a customer. And apparently this is not the first time they have done this. A local VT taxi service told me that they get calls every year from people getting stranded because of this company.

Recall my negative review of a year ago? Well, get this: I just looked at my credit card statement and they charged me $ 547.00 out of the blue, almost a YEAR later. Needless to say, I was PISSED. This is a ROTTEN scammer, through and through. Stay far away.

I’ve never written a negative Unilocal review and I’ve definitely never filed a complaint with the BBB. But this requires both.
Horrific. Spoke to a live person on Friday June 28^th to confirm availability in travel on July 3^rd at 11:30. Was told there was still availability. Went ahead and booked through web form to secure 2 tickets to MV ferry dock – including entering full payment information. Did not receive any email, automatic notification, or phone call communicating any confirmation nor any issue or problem. 4 days later I texted for confirmation. Then I called. Was told by the *same* person I spoke to last Friday that they weren’t opening till July 1^st and they were not starting service until July 4^th. Criminal.

Quick service, in a minivan, between New York and New London, CT.
However, you must wait for an email (which never came) and for a phone call (the night before our trip) to learn where to meet the vehicle. When you call them, you almost always reach only voicemail.
On our way home, in the rain, when we asked if it was possible to be let off at our home instead of the dropoff point, a mile away, we were told, «It’s POSSIBLE, but it will cost $ 60.» And when we got off at the dropoff point (and took a cab home). the driver (a not-​pleasant fellow) told us, «Check our website for our rates.»
Re my previous review, I was told I could use the $ 417 I had paid in 2008 for a trip (for three people) that I had to cancel because of serious illness on a future trip, but this year, the company «could not find the records» of that payment.

Terrible bus company. Will change time on you 2 hours before departure, ie will change time by 15 minutes and not wait a few extra minutes even though they know they couldn’t get a hold of you + they are your only form of transportation. My friends have been stranded in Stratton for 4 hours now w/​o a way to get home. They were at the pick-​up location 5 mins before agreed time (well before the company changed it last minute). This has been nothing but a huge headache. It will cost them at least $ 500 to get back to New York (if they can find a driver…). And of course the Bus company didn’t want to refund us the tickets and even called to threaten us. Already put in an inquiry to cancel the payment to them…

This company is a scam. Refused to issue me a confirmation until 1 day before my trip. I called and asked for a confirmation and the guy told me «we don’t do confirmations». He then hung up on me.
Do NOT use this company!!!

After this entire debacle, I had to dispute this charge on my AmEx card and was able to reverse the charge that came from Adventure Northeast. Following the dispute, I was then charged AGAIN on my AmEx. After the second incident, I had AmEx blacklist the vendor so they couldn’t keep trying to scam me.

This company is a scam. As I write this, we are supposed to be picked up from Manhattan in exactly 45 minutes. I just got a call 10 minutes ago saying they won’t be able to make it, and the reason is that they couldn’t reach us last night (when we didnt have reception at IKEA at 8:30 pm). We called back at 10pm and emailed as soon as we got home as well. Thing is, ticket is 180 PREPAID and confirming the night before is NOT a condition to the ticket. (The ticket has a very list of long terms and conditions). IF INDEED THIS IS THE WAY THEY OPERATE THEY SHOULD’VE CALLED EARLIER IN THE DAY or they should’ve mentioned this in their long winded term and conditions on the ticket. I am a lawyer so I read instructions very very very carefully.
Then, as I was being outraged (because our entire trip is prepaid and planned) he offered, as if it’s a generous offer, that we can still make the 11:30 ferry if we can take the metronorth (other side of town) to westport. I asked, what do you refund for this last minute change of plans and extra trouble for us? He’s like, we’ll give you $ 10 which is the cost of the metronorth ticket. We paid 90 dollars per person for the convenience of skipping over this extra trip. How is a scant $ 10 reimbursement acceptable when we relied on them for the prepaid trip and logistics to the ferry???
Anyway, as I write this we cannot reach them on the phone. Our hotel is prepaid, our ferry ticket to Block Island is prepaid, our vacation which has been 100% paid for an planned for for a couple of weeks now is already completely ruined.
As I write this, we keep calling them over and over and they are not picking up.
They have no physical address and I think we just kissed &180 goodbye and we don’t know how we will get to block island today.
