Used to go here with kickball team. The beer was cheap. It got crazy cramped with all the teams playing beerpong.

Aces and Eiights is the designated bar for my Flag Football League so I can’t say bad things about it. It is a dive bar with cheap pitchers and lively trivia nights. They even have ping pong table, pool table and other game consoles here. People tend to get drunk here pretty quickly… So if you are in the area and need somewhere to get drunk fast, this is the place to go!

I am a big fan of dive bars and I love it here. The bartenders are always friendly. I love that you can get 2 for 1 drinks during happy hour but can save your chip to redeem it any time. I love how tough they pour the mixed drinks!

Came here after my kickball game. Pretty suitable for post-kickball antics. They have flip cup tables. And two floors! Enough space to hold tons of thisrty kickballers.

CLOSED by the department of health and mental hygiene?! Whuuuu? The sign on the door says, «due to unforeseen permit issues» they are closed tonight. Um, you’re a bar in New York City. Even if that permit excuse is true, your entire livelihood depends on not being closed by the City. Thousands of other establishments do just fine. Get it together. I have NYCSSC volleyball tonight. I have no idea where we’re going to get our flip cup fix. So bummed.

This was something of an Ohio bar, both in that they had Ohio State paraphernalia up as well as it was about as crowded as an Ohio dive bar — that is to say, it was kind of dead here. They have giant beer pong tables in the back, so if you’re into that(I am not) then you’d probably love this place. The music was wayyy too loud, and was the main reason that my friends and I left promptly after one drink.

I’ve been here way more times than I’d like to admit and I really wish I could give it a higher rating. Aces and Eights is a bi level space. The ground floor houses the bar with saddle seats(cool) while the back has beer pong tables and semi circle booth seats. Drinks here are moderately priced rounding out to about $ 6 on average which I think is standard for the area. Upstairs is a wide dancing space with old«plushie» couches, a bar and a separate patio room for some more peace and quiet. It’s up two flights of stairs though and is kinda a pain to get up and down from. The DJ will pretty much play whatever you request upstairs. Downstairs they have a jukebox. Bathrooms on both floors are clean enough. P. s. I’ll rock your socks in beer pong as long as you’re willing to drink it for me ;).

They have beer pong and ski ball so they automatically get 3 stars. Beer is reasonably priced and the crowd isn’t bad. We went there once when nobody was at the bar(it was late afternoon on a Saturday) which I actually enjoyed since we got to play beer pong by ourselves.

Feel like the cool kid, and check out the hidden, spacious lounge on the second floor. Hosted a bday party there last December, and worked the details out with Tom, owner/manager. He was patient and accommodating through the entire process and allowed some of us to do the 3hr open bar deal even though the rest of our party didn’t. The DJ was fun and welcomed requests ranging from top 40, 80’s, electro, to hiphop. Location isn’t the most convenient, but drinks are cheap and there’s enough space to dance comfortably. All you need to bring is a good group of friends.

Call me a weirdo, but I love a good dive bar — and Aces & Eights is exactly that. Planned my boyfriends birthday party here and the manager was very accommodating and kept in contact with me throughout the whole process. The bartenders are very nice, attentive, and quick. The downstairs portion of the bar is a bit grimey, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Upstairs definitely has a loungey feel to it and is a welcomed change from the wet floors of the first floor. Sit in the saddle and feel like a real cowboy(sort of). Ha.

Typical dive-looking place. About 5 beer pong tables are lined up on the ground floor. They are real beer pong tables — they are painted with illustrations, have water cup holders, and painted red triangles for those who forgot what to do. I thought this was cool. I was here for a birthday and had a pretty good time, but the biggest downer were these NYCSSC people who swarmed the near empty bar around 8 pm. Conclusively, an okay place to hang out, but I would never come back here again because of NYCSSC.

Want to get your butt whipped at beer pong? Play me here on one of the six beer pong tables in the back on the first floor. But if you’re an uncute drunk guy and you try to jump in on my friends and my game and then end up spilling our cups? Let’s just say, you don’t want to mess with me if you’re wasting MY alcohol. The lighting is bad, and you have to deal with it since you have to play with clear cups(instead of the traditional red Solo cups). I don’t get the saddle-chairs at the bar. They’re useful as purse holders since everyone does what they can to avoid sitting on them. Hah. It’s hard for me to give a bar more than two stars when they’re having a «white trash» themed night the next night, and I almost wonder if there would actually be that much of a difference.

it took me about a year and a half to actually go here, but im definitely glad i did. the downstairs area is nice in a cowboy-dive type of way, and the beer-pong is cool — not douchey as found in many midtown establishments. the upstairs though is where the 4 stars come in. a very different vibe than downstairs, the upper level is more of a lounge with a 2nd bar, dancefloor, nice bathrooms and a private room. i recently had my birthday in the private room and it was perfect. the room is separated by huge windows, so you don’t feel closed off from the rest of the bar, but you also feel like you and your party have your own space. the upstairs room is free to reserve and you can smoke in it!

I play flip-cup and beer pong here after my kickball games. I hate to splash the haterade on it… Pros: Fresh pitchers, beer-pong tables, Plenty of TVs to catch the game. Individual bathrooms, 2nd Fl bar is easy to get to. Cons: The DJ on the second floor is pretty terrible. Songs are constantly cut off midway through them. There have been several times where a song has been repeated, or worse yet, he’ll skip his ipod 3 times in a row. There is a coffee table on the second floor that’s just in the way, they need a third beer pong table instead of the stupid short coffee table that’s lazily stacked on top of a square table…

I had to take away a star for the absolutely remedial bartender they allow to work there. She’s an inattentive loud attention whore who is one of those kinds who have no idea what they’re talking about but talk so loud and so much you’re not willing to argue. You’re the bartender. Shut up, listen to me, and get me a beer when it’s empty. We were in there at maybe 3pm. The ONLY people at the bar. And somehow we sat there with empty beers for over 5 minutes… because she was busy TEXTING! and I just can’t listent to her speak. SODUMB.

I was visiting NY, my old stomping grounds, and went to this bar with friends because a friend of ours was tending bar and we wanted to say hi and check it out. The fact that it’s new and a little low on populous is a plus for me. I’m not a fan of shoulder-to-shoulder bars where you have to shout to be heard. I enjoyed that we got a table, were quite comfortable there for a long time and hey, while we’re at it, get in a little exercise… Isn’t beirut/beer pong exercise? I also popped upstairs to check out their nicer lounge area which was pretty swanky. I would have hung out there is we didn’t have someone with us who was unable to clumb stairs. It looked like a posh Hollywood bar sans the Hollywood pretention and I dug the semi-outdoor area overlooking the street. I’m sure once word gets out, the paint dries(yeah, it smelled a little bit) and the routine is down, this place will get pretty popular.

I haven’t played beirut(what some of you call beer pong?) probably since college, and I’m trying to keep it that way. Aces & Eights on Avenue A might make that a little difficult. The back room is filthy with beirut tables along one side and booths outfitted with flat-screed televisions on the other. They’ve also got a Recession Special going on with pints of Bud & Bud Light(I think) for $ 2.50 all night… if you’re a fan of Bud then I guess that’s a pretty good deal. If you’re like me, then you’ll end up spending more money on something else, like Maker’s. Oh, two of the bar stools have saddle’s and I have no idea what that’s about!
