Décor and friendly atmosphere = 4. Food = 2. Abbey Tavern has an inviting and somewhat trendy décor for an Irish bar with spacious seating and lots of large TVs for watching sports. They have a large and somewhat diverse menu. Went there for brunch recently and they were fairly empty so we decided to try it out. Unfortunately, the food was really mediocre: — Veggie Panini consisted of sauteed vegetables(likely from pack of frozen veggies) pressed between regular sandwich bread. you can make a better sandwich at home. not sure why they are calling this a panini — Eggs Benedict were overcooked and served incorrectly(ham rather than spinach). The waiter was apologetic but it seems they just quickly warmed up some spinach and swapped it in rather than redoing the dish. also, the home fries are just diced potatoes I would possibly go back to watch sports, but absolutely not for brunch or any other meal.

We were in to be in the area & between the few places on this block this one called our attention more. Came in once seated we started with some drinks Yuengling & Pumpkin beer were the choices for the night always enjoy Yuengling good tasting beer the pumpkin beer was good as well. Main meal I had the Penne ala vodka pretty good nice tasting sauce w prosciutto & mozzarella good portion as well. My friend had the Chicken avocado club sandwich w fries good sandwich, nice tasting chicken w the avocado, pretty good fries. The restaurant itself is a good size plenty of seating, lots of TV’s to catch the game. During the games it can get very loud not that big of a deal but can get pretty hard to talk amongst yourself. Service was good, prices are reasonable we enjoyed our drinks & meal.

I went here for a game watch on a Saturday afternoon and partnered that up with brunch and drinks. I would give Abbey Tavern a 5 for atmosphere which was perfect for a game day. They have a large restaurant and bar area up front with plenty of tables and TVs to watch your games. We were set up in the back room which has TVs and a huge projector screen. I loved their draft beer list that was complete with local brews as well. My trouble was with the service and food that came out. I ordered my go-to, eggs benedict from the brunch menu. The menu offers up a coffee/juice and beverage of choice with your entrée for $ 14.95 which is a steal. However, there was some confusion with our server and I had to remind her 2 times to bring me my coffee and mimosa after I placed my original order. As for the order itself, I was so bummed to find overcooked poached eggs. These were not the runny eggs I was excited to cut into at all. Since it was such a busy game day and service wasn’t being very attentive, I didn’t try to send the order back for a second stab at poached eggs. The home fries that came with the order also disappointed because they were really just smaller cut up french fries. My friends seemed happy with their lunch orders of sandwiches, but overall, I’d say that brunch was lacking. I’d return for drinks but not for food.

I admire a location that’s able to handle a big event crowd with efficiency and grace. I was here for a big college football game and not only did the staff take the time to wear team stickers and paraphernalia, but they were friendly, prompt and on top of everything when facing a rowdy, drunken crowd. Tip: Parmesan garlic wings are delicious.

Really lovely experience! We were a group of 13 and our waitress, Jennifer, was a superstar to deal with our various orders and checks. Music was fun, drinks were fresh, food was filling! This is mostly a review just to say Jennifer absolutely made the experience for us.

I was meeting my buddy at The Mad Hatter across the street for the Manchester Darby, but the place was so packed and intense that I had to switch to a saner venue when the gf arrived. Luckily this bar was right across the street. I didn’t expect too much from Abbey, but it turned out to be a proper Irish pub with animated bar tenders and good food and beer. The Irish breakfast was just right, and my lady enjoyed the huevos rancheros. They also put the Tottenham game on the telly for us(there was barely a soul when we walked in, and all the TVs were obviously tuned to City-ManU). It was nice being able to actually watch my team, and they kept us well-watered with beer and brunch beverages. The crowd started picking up for the football games, and while I didn’t stay for the whole Jets game, it looks like a good place to do so.

It’s an Irish pub with great beer selection as well as an above average whiskey list. In the summer, they open up the windows, which is nice(and loud, especially when that crazy homeless guy walks by and starts yelling at you). They have TVs all over the place, mostly for soccer and rugby when it’s on. We sat down at a table, and our waitress was a bit aloof though. She had a thick Irish accent, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that she was completely perplexed when I asked her if she had a whiskey menu. I ended up going to the bar and ordering myself. Had a nice Bakers on the rocks. Two, actually. Wasn’t too crowded after work, and a lot of empty tables. I imagine it gets busy when there are big games on.

This place was a saving grace; some co-workers and I were escaping a work-sponsored event a few blocks away. Our co-workers were fine, but the food and drinks? Subpar. Abbey Tavern saved us with great food and drinks! This place is pretty spacious, all of the food and drinks were satisfying. Some co-workers and I split meatloaf sliders, chicken fingers, and chicken wings, and the Angry Orchard was cold and refreshing. We happened upon a Seinfeld Trivia Night, unbeknownst to us. A co-worker may or may not have yelled out«Tavern on the Green!!!» as an answer, though we weren’t a part of the trivia night. Ha! I don’t end up in this part of Manhattan often… or, ever, really… but if I found myself down here again, I’d take comfort in entering Abbey Tavern again. It’s a very nice place.

I really like this bar to watch sports they have Tv’s and big screens. The food is nice comfort food and good selection of beers. I have gone there for a couple of trivia quiz nights the service has always been friendly and promote. It’s a go to on 3rd Ave

Great spot! Definitely recommend the hummus, nachos and spinach and artichoke dip to start. The hummus is the best in NYC! So fresh and delicious. All the bartenders and servers are very friendly! Always have a good time there. They also have great trivia nights if you’re into that and they play all Rangers games with sound :) Margherita flatbread is a also a great starter. Had the penne all a vodka for dinner, which was delicious(who knew an Irish pub would have great pasta!)

Come for the drinks, not for the food… We ordered the Bangers and Mash(which the waitress highly recommended). What we got was hotdogs and mashed potatoes. Very disappointing. The wings are also below average. With so many other bar/restaurants in the area, I wouldn’t recommend this one.

Fun Irish bar with nice beer selection and lots of TVs for easy sports watching. Most of the tables have a TV in view. Came here to meet a friend who’s soccer team had reserved the back area of the bar to watch the Women’s World Cup Final game(USA vs. Japan). Our server was great especially since she was handling a large group of loud and wild people during the game. We ordered a couple beers, buffalo chicken fingers, and sliders. The sliders were really good, especially for bar food. Some of the better sliders I’ve had before. The buffalo chicken fingers hit the spot. Good but nothing special. I’d come back to watch another sports game and grab drinks and apps.

I cant speak for their beer, since we came thinking we’ll grab a quick lunch. We came with a party of 10, and half of our table got our food first and the other half didn’t get their food for the rest of the hour. Ended up getting the rest to go and leaving with half of us not even tasting the food. I guess it wasnt a good idea going to a bar for food in the first place, so won’t blame the awfully long wait entirely on them. Also, when we got our receipt we saw that they entered our table number as «Korea to go» and«Korea.» Yes most of us are Korean, and cant blame you, waiter, for correctly assuming where SOME of us are from, but just wondering what you wouldve put if we were Nigerian or indian or white. Would it have been«Nigeria to go», «india», or «scandinavia?» Or «white people»? I’d suggest a bit more cultural sensitivity, but working on the speed in the kitchen might be more of a priority for this bar/restaurant All in all, food was mediocre, service awfully slow, and left slightly feeling uneasy about the ethnic categorization by waiter. Wouldn’t go back here.

went to grab lunch with one of my friends… she had the grilled chicken penne and I had the grilled charcoal chicken with veggies and a side of mash. Everything was really delicious, I especially enjoyed the Grilled Chicken because going for a healthy alternative it was the only thing that caught my eyes. It wasn’t your ordinary slab on the grill with salt and pepper chicken, but one which was filled with flavors to wow you, I think they used lots of herbs which made it so delectable :) Only thing I had a problem with was the mash potato, it was sort of tasteless. Overall everything was well, I will visit again to try the rest of stuff on the menu.

Returned for brunch to watch the NFL Playoffs and brunch was fine. Nothing spectacular but got the job done. Hopefully they have worked out the kinks. I had huevos rancheros and my friend had eggs Benedict. Everything was fresh and well cooked. Very friendly service and great TVs for watching sports. I went to this place when it was the original abbey tavern and it’s a competitive street as is everywhere in NYC. Good atmosphere and sight lines for sports. I would return for brunch.

I have to chime in on the weak happy hour drinks. The price is right but the mixed drinks were mostly ice and water. I have a low tolerance for alcohol, so all I can think is that neither the mojito nor the martini had much in them. Unfortunately, they didn’t have much flavour either. The burger had no discernible taste; I wish I’d tried the garlic-parmesan chicken skewers that were a special of the day instead. The pleasant but distracted waiters did OK. They seemed nice. And there are a lot of huge TVs, clear views of the screens all around. So…go for bottled drinks and to watch a game? We spent way too much for bland drinks and dull meal. I’m still curious about those chicken skewers but not likely to go back when there are so many other choices within a block or two.

Most don’t remember, but up until 5 years ago or so this location was the Abbey Tavern. Glad to have you back Abbey! Now bring back the Sunday Irish breakfast and the staff that used to work there! (especially Fiona) OK, i haven’t had the food yet. I’ll post an update soon. Too bad the décor isn’t as homey as it used to be. But welcome back!
