I also have to say that my experience doesn’t fit with the bad reviews. But, I’ve also had mixed experiences with other Amazon Same-​day delivery couriers (Lasership). This was the first time I’d used same-​day in a while after the Lasership nightmare, but I really needed these things last minute, so I took the risk. Never had a delivery from A-​1 before. I had a really good experience this time. Because of previous experience, I sat on the front steps of my building and waited after an hour had passed from the «Out for Delivery» tracking notification. The driver showed up about 5 minutes after I got out there. So, delivered as promised to a very happy customer. I was concerned when there was a single box because I didn’t think both items could fit inside, but they were both there. So, thanks for this same-​day delivery A-​1!

I really wish there was an option here for me to give no stars. I had the absolute worst experience with this company. I’d use them to send packages a few times to the same company. Originally everything went off without a hitch– I scheduled the delivery the same way I always did with the same information. This time, despite quoting me DRASTICALLY lower, they charged me over $ 100. Every time that I’d used them to send the same delivery before it had only been $ 30. When I called to speak with the billing department they sent me in complete circles. At first they told me the billing department was closed for the day and that they’d call me back, which of course they never did. When I called back they transferred me around to 7 different people, all of whom made me tell the same story over and over again. At the end– they blamed the issue on me, telling me that they had more trouble making the delivery this time (mind you it was the same delivery they’d made previously with the same information) and that this was my fault. They took NO responsibility and refused to give me a rate closer to what they quoted me at.
I would suggest NEVER using this company. If you need a courier service go ANYWHERE else. Their customer service is horrible and they will definitely screw you over.

I should’ve taken into consideration the amount of complaints that this company received here on Unilocal.I ordered something with Amazon Prime, which was supposed to be delivered same day. After staying home all day, I checked the tracking to see that the package was supposedly «delivered» and signed by «mailbox». Numerous times I went downstairs to see if the package was left in the lobby. Of course not. I call Amazon, they contact A-​1, who then proceeds to tell me that I am speaking with the NY office and that she will contact the carrier in Lyndhurst, NJ and speak directly with them regarding the supposed delivery. She hangs up without reassuring me that the problem will be taken care of. Instead, Amazon gives me a refund and tells me to reorder the product.
It is true, A-1’s website is outdated and a complete scam. Take the advice of the people on Unilocal.If you can take legal action against the company, go for it. Otherwise, do not order same day shipping in the NY Metro area with Amazon Prime.
Oh. P. S. this is only my second time ordering from Amazon and this experience was a complete fail.

This is the absolute WORST, they apparently only deliver 5−9PM and are contracted by Amazon to do so. I was supposed to get a package delivered to my workplace, but here’s the catch — they only deliver to residences successfully. Most business mailrooms (if you have one) do NOT stay open past 5. These guys START delivering at 5.
The model is supposed to be a residential delivery system, but when calling (three different days waiting for a supposed ‘overnight’ package) they promised to have the driver call me when he was attempting to drop off my stuff. Never got a call and the package also didn’t even make it on to the truck. SERIOUSLY?! AMAZON needs to dump these people.
TLDR — If you live in NYC, do NOT, I repeat DO NOT, order amazon 1-​day shipping on prime items as they WILL come to you from this courier and you may not receive them if you are delivering them to your workplace. Just be smart and use Amazon Prime 2 day. It will come on a national courier, not this local place.

I was also one of the few that were skeptical and anxious about receiving a package from this company but I had ordered something with one-​day free shipping on amazon prime and it was too late to cancel my order. I decided to test my luck.
Despite the other bad reviews, I had a pleasant experience. My apartment building doesn’t have a doorbell so I called the customer service number in hopes of getting my phone number to the courier so he/​she could call me for my package. I was redirected to amazon prime customer service but the woman was very helpful in helping me.
The courier did not call me but what she did do was bring my package to my apartment door. I was impressed and grateful since it’s a tough five flights up. I will consider myself one of the lucky few that has had a good experience with this company. Hopefully it will remain that way if I ever encounter this company in the future.

The absolute scammers I suspect, ’cause we (our building) have had all kinds of courier services and never had problems. You can practically see the items sit for a week and still no one touches. The first time I got a package by A-​1, it went missing. It was funny ’cause I was home and they put the status, ‘signed by Mb’ presumably ‘mail box’? Absolute horror!
Amazon should totally lose these bastards! Period.

This company is incompetent and unprofessional. I paid for one day shipping and the package is already 5 days late. Every day, it says it was out for delivery and the package delivery was unsuccessful. It also says «there is a message left at the door regarding next steps». There has not been a single message left. There is a doorman in my building ²⁴⁄₇ so unless these guys are going to the wrong address or, as someone below says, too lazy to get out of the truck, there is no explanation for why they keep on screwing up this delivery. Emails have also gone unanswered.
Amazon, you’re a great company. I echo the customers below. Kick these guys out.

Horrible. Have had several issues with them through Amazon. Sitting here tonight and get a text that package was delivered and signed by front door … Go out and nothing is there. This is the 3^rd time it has happened. Worst company ever in my opinion.

Amazon Shipping service used — A1 — terrible. Wish Amazon would do something about A1 hurting their brand. Never made delivery attempt yet stated they did. Wasted full Saturday waiting for them. No response to voicemails or pick up to calls. Will not use Amazon prime same day or next day service again. Too bad 0 out of 5 isn’t available. Be warned.

Absolutely the worst. They said they had delivered my package and it was signed for by ‘Mailbox’. There was no package at the mailbox and I was home all day to get the package.
I really wish Amazon wouldn’t use them.

I am so livid & will be contacting a lawyer against A-​1 Courier Service and their driver, Carlos.
Ordered a time sensitive package on a Saturday. Paid the extra shipping for same day service. Canceled my Saturday night plans to sit and wait for it.
And it never came. Called A-​1 and got no answer. Looked after 9 pm on Amazon and saw they «attempted delivery.» Ha-​ha, I’d been waiting all day! Tried calling again and again until I got a janitor who said I could try getting to Lyndenhurst, NJ to get the package. I live in Manhattan. No?
I ended up having to drive to Connecticut on a Saturday night to get the items I needed. Then I got a call today (Sunday) from A-​1 tracking. They tried to deliver the package again. I told the driver, Carlos, to buzz apartment C. He said he was dialing apartment C. I went outside to meet him and no one was outside. NO ONE.
While talking to the customer service rep on three-​way with me (perhaps he didn’t know I was listening), Carlos then called me «this stupid little bitch» for not knowing I was there.
WHAT. EXCUSE ME. WHAT.
I was standing outside on my steps trying to get a day late package and you call me a «stupid little bitch»!!! Ten minutes later there’s a buzz at the door and he comes in, LAUGHING, telling me «haha I got the wrong apartment! Today and yesterday!»
I told him I was calling a lawyer and I fully intend to against Carlos and A-​1 services. I feel verbally harassed and belittled from a COURIER SERVICE. Whaaaaaat.
This is insane. I’m shocked. Thanks to Amazon for helping me submit a claim, but no more A-​1 for me ever, ever, ever again.

They literally will not get out of the delivery vehicle to press the apt buzzer to check if you’re at home. Instead, they’ll call when they’re outside and drive away if you dont answer the phone. So much for 1-​day shipping.
Amazon, I love you, but you’ve got to dump A-​1

Ordered from Amazon with «guaranteed» same-​day delivery. Package was «scheduled» for delivery before 9pm. Well, it wasn’t delivered at 9pm. I got Amazon customer support on the phone at 9:30 and they were only able to tell me that the package was «out for delivery», which I had already seen when I tracked the order on A-1’s website.
It’s unclear to me what is the point of paying for same-​day courier delivery, on something I ordered at 6am, no less, if I’m not going to get it before I go to bed. I’m not sure if this review should really be pointed at A-​1, who are simply ineffectual, or Amazon, who keep employing them. If, when I’d been placing the order, it had occurred to me that Amazon might enlist an utterly incompetent courier who was incapable of making an on-​time delivery, I would not have opted for same-​day delivery.

This company is hands down offensive. The driver «attempted» the delivery thrice for a same-​day delivery package in the Manhattan area over the course of the weekend. Honestly I don’t think he even came by my building, since I stayed in waiting for the package but was never notified. Looking at the rest of the reviews here just confirms their not showing up.
I raised an issue with their customer service and they replied that they’d leave the package if they got access to the mailboxes. Bullshit. They never rang the buzzer or left any kind of message/​post explaining any next steps.
Hopefully we can start some sort of formal complaint with Amazon so they drop these guys.

A1 is so incredibly awful. PLEASE Amazon, get rid of them and find another same-​day shipping partner, at least for the Manhattan area. I have had several packages that were never delivered, that they claimed were delivered. All of these «delivered» packages have allegedly been left «at lobby» or «at mailbox» according to A1. But my building doesn’t have a doorman, or mailboxes to leave things in! Today, I happened to literally be standing outside my building when my A1 delivery was marked «delivered at mailbox». And that was the final straw — I will be cancelling my Amazon Prime as a result of my experience with A1, as I can no longer utilize the same/​next-​day (or sometimes 2-​day) delivery service I am paying for without fear that A1 will be chosen as the courier for my order.
How has Amazon, a company renowned for its customer service, allowed this to go on for so long? The trail of bitter complaints about A1’s incompetence, deceit, and rudeness is endless… over 5 years of miserable Unilocal reviews, Google reviews, BBB reviews, etc.
And this glorious blog post (from 5 years ago) that received much personal attention from Amazon and A1, as well as an «anonymous» employee at A1 that foolishly posted a moronic comment without disguising A1’s IP address:

I ordered something from Amazon this morning that was supposed to be delivered the same day by this company. They reported it as having been delivered at 5:18pm. Quite simply, they lied to Amazon about their delivery time. Just a complete lie. So Amazon thinks that they delivered it on time. Anyhow, I wouldn’t use this company for anything important or anything that has to be actually be delivered. It’s a good company if you want to waste money, though.

Package was late after paying extra for a necessary overnight shipment. Called Amazon and suggested they remove this company as one of its carriers for Prime because it looks like they are consistently late/​fail to meet their obligations. I received a shipping refund and was told I would never again have one of my orders delivered by this company through Amazon but who knows if they will keep using them for everyone else in the future.
Update:
After never delivering my package the delivery status was changed at 2am the next day to say an attempt was made at 7pm when earlier their OWN website said my package was still in transit at 9:30pm and would be delivered shortly. My apartment has a ²⁴⁄₇ doorman who takes all packages, signs for them, and keeps a detailed log of each for all residents to review. This company consistently lies to cover up its incompetency.
If Amazon won’t listen, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Maybe this will get them shut down.

Problems with A-​1:
1. Latest possible delivery time they gave me was 9:00pm. Yet, customer service stops answering calls at 8:00pm. All I received was a busy signal even though I called before 8:00pm.
2. They did not inform me about the delay in my same day delivery until 8:45pm, but they put the time of delay as 5:45pm. Guess what? I wish you had of told me at 5:45 instead of allowing me to wait around an additional 3 hours.
3. After reading reviews on Unilocal and Google it is obvious you cannot provide same day service. Do us all a favor and withdraw your contracts with major e-​commerce sites. You don’t deliver. so don’t waste my time having to calling Amazon to get a shipping refund. Stay in your lane.

Since moving to the area, I’ve had exactly zero of the same day or next day Amazon shipments routed through this company arrive successfully by their commit date. A1 fakes tracking data to claim that they made an attempt, or that it was actually delivered, and then actually delivers a day or two later. Often they’ll claim no one was home, so they couldn’t deliver… When 3 other carriers delivered that day without issue.
The only way this gets better is if we collectively request refund of shipment charges every single time A1 does this. When Amazon feels the pain, they’ll find a better carrier, or stop promising deliveries they can’t make.
