Staff is very friendly. Fast service. Great food. Definitely gna be my go to place whenever I’m on these sides. Even better that they’re open until 4am. Came in very handy.

I keep seeing reviews about this place saying that its closed. I definitely have to go and confirm this myself because this was definitely the fill my belly spot after a drunken night. My ex boyfriend and i use to come here all the time for the salt and pepper wings. They are seriously toooo die for!!! This place just like everybody has mentioned is small and has dollars on the wall. It’s like basically like your go to chinese spot but a little more classier than your local chinese restaurant. Keep in mind this is not your 4−5* restaurant either. But the lo mein with fried egg and the salt pepper hits the spot on a late hot drunk night lol. Thank me later!!! But i will definitely see if this place is closed before the weekend ends and will update my post. P. S this place gets crowded after 2 am and only takes cash.

I just heard on the grapevine that this venerable institution that fed me and my wayward friends night in and night out when back in the day is closing this week(with almost no information as to why) and I feel compelled to get my 2 cents in before it evaporates into the past of many other great Chinatown stalwarts. No place could feed hungry kids for such a reasonable price like 69, especially after a night out at a club or coming back from AC. The beef stew over rice and black bean sea snails with jalapeños were always on the table when we went. This place had character. It’s staff was typical Chinatown and always made me smile and any person who’s eaten there at 2 a.m. on a summer Friday knows how much this place will be missed. RIP and thanks for giving me some of the greatest(and maybe fuzziest) nights of my life. Bayard Street will never be the same.

Okay. if you want grub for a great price. this place is def for you. My husband has been coming here since his young days and he still loves it. The restaurant is sure small and beat up. with no music and florescent lights, however, the food here is delish! Get the beef and tomato and salt and pepper squid. You will not be disappointed. Service was quick as well. def. will be back.

Was invited to this restaurant for lunch during the Lunar New Year. Could not help but feel annoyed at how each dish was saturated with sauce, sauce, and MORESAUCE. The ratio of the sauce to the other key ingredients in many dishes was just overwhelming. I’ve tried, many times, to enjoy whatever was served, but I could not help but feel as if I was consuming some heavy broth. Expensive prices, stingy servings, and overpraised. This is NOT real Chinese food. This is a stingy establishment that charges excessive prices for heavy broth.

The beef stew over rice is a great lunch deal! The bean curd accompanied with the beef stew is fantastic! The portion size was very generous! Can’t wait to return and try the other dishes! Oh, and the vegetable egg rolls were huge! I forgot to take a photo before I gulped it down…

I always love coming here, I think 69 and Wo Hop are on the same level in regards to the delicious food. I brought my boyfriend here the other night because he’s never had it and he HAD to try it at least once! It looks like such an old school NYC Chinese restaurant and to me, that’s one of the cool parts about it. We both ordered wonton soup to start which was a good portion and tasted delicious as always. To split for dinner we ordered sesame chicken, chicken lo mein, and fried wontons. The food is amazing and comes out so quick, which is another up side of this place. The restaurant is tiny with not many tables, but anytime I’m there I see them accommodating groups of all different sizes. This would of been a 4 star review but before I left the restaurant I went to use the bathroom and it was atrocious. I can’t believe a business would ever allow customers into a bathroom that filthy and disgusting. Because of how skeeved the bathroom made me, I probably wouldn’t ever eat here again, that ruined it for me. If you want to keep going to eat here, DONTUSETHEBATHROOM.

Came here because it’s open late, but I really wish I hadn’t. The waiter seemed pretty annoyed and even though the food only took a few minutes to make, it soon became apparent why. I ordered shrimp with black bean sauce over rice and they basically just threw those three ingredients together and heated it. It tastes disgusting, didn’t look much better. The shrimp had no taste, it was no wonder they dumped bean sauce all over it. My appetite wasn’t helped by the fact that I saw mice hanging outside the restaurant. Wouldn’t order that ever again and probably would stay away from this store as well.

I have a bad habit of ordering a crapton of chinese food after a night of drinking. Usually in philly we always go to ken’s seafood so we’ve been looking for a late night spot in NYC. This it it! Cash only and friendly service. Small divey spot located in Chinatown. Packed at night with people who have the drunk munchies. Must gets: Beef Ho fun Walnut Shrimp Late Night Eating Spot!!!

Amazing!!! Best Chinese food I have had in NYC. I never order food that was made so fresh and arrived at your table in MINUTES!!! The menu is pretty large with so many options that I got lost and slightly overwhelmed. Thank goodness my husband had been before so he had an idea of what was good and what he enjoyed. It is a rather small establishment with a little over 10 – 15 tables. There were several large parties of about 6 or 7 people. So I am guessing this is a good place that you can bring the crew. The walls are covered in signed dollar bills and by covered I mean ceiling and all. The place has a slighty divey feel to it but it didn’t bother me. We had the General Tso chicken, Shrimp fried rice, and salt & pepper. First the fried rice was brought out to the table and then the other two items follows. Everything was delicious and well seasoned. I can’t wait to go back soon. BRINGCASH!

We have eaten at this resturant for the last twenty years and they have been consistent staple when we visit China town. Yes, it’s a little dive that we adore and has a style all its own. The resturant is wallpapered with personal US dollar bills from wall to ceiling. You might even find a five or ten plastered on the walls of you look close enough. The bathroom is extremely tiny, but does the trick. One nice fact about this place is that you don’t hear the road noise or activity from the street once you enter the establishment. My husband always enjoys the Cold Sesame noodles w roast pork. And, my favorite dish is Chicken & Broccoli w/brown rice.

YUMMMMMMMMMY! Went there on a Saturday late night, after the club. Ordered the snails, dumplings, and Ho Fun with pork. Our waiter was so nice! The service was good and the food came out quick, but was fresh. The snails are small, so it’s a little tough to get them out the shell, but it’s worth it, when you do. The noodles were so gooooood! And so were the dumplings. The décor is nothing but dollar bills on the wall! Please note this place is cash only.

You can tell this place does well for itself because they literally paper the walls with money(dolla dolla bills y’all). I had the pork dumpling soup and duck chow fon. Their broth game was on lock and they obviously used only the broadest of noodles. And all this for only $ 13 after tip. I like this place. I like it a lot.

Every time I pass by this restaurant, the view is really captivating. This restaurant stands out because of all the bills taped around the store. It gives a New York vibe. I come here very often on my lunch break or when I’m hungry at night. This restaurant opens till 4am. The employees are so kind and down to earth. They are very patient and helps you with whatever you need help with. Whenever I’m craving for chicken wings, this is the place I go to.

after so many drunken nights partying it up in NYC, 69 was always my go to spot. nothing soaks up beer & alcohol better than their salt & pepper pork chop over white rice. With dollar dollar bills graffiti’d and taped all over the walls, 69 just has a certain appeal to it. Could also be because i had no idea who i was sitting next to during those times nor did i know exactly what i was eating half the times. But what i did know is that its cheap as hell here and it always helped me sober up after scarfing down their rice dishes. oh and skip out on the sesame chicken & make sure to order their steroid sized fried chicken wings ! a late night staple in the NYC chinatown area, def give this place a shot if your looking for some cheap 3am grub!

What’s not to love about Chinese food At 3 in the morning?!! Love coming here after a night out. Their salt and pepper chicken wings is my favorite. Love love love! Fried rice and chow fun usually wraps up my meal. The food is out really fast so you can be in and out in less than an hour. Awesome spot!

Was craving some real chinese food. Hit up my boys from Harlem and they took me here. Still to this day, I can’t tell if they took me here because they genuinely thought it was awesome or if they were being funny. When I saw the food, I laughed. It was alright(probably would have been awesome if I was tipsy, but this was for dinner, and unfortunately, I haven’t been day drinking), but definitely more like take out. It was inexpensive though and the decorations on the wall made it unique. It was plastered with dollar bills taped EVERYWHERE with peoples’ signatures. Still don’t quite get the theme and consistency with the chinese restaurant, but it was a fun sight to see.

The best Chinese food dive in Chinatown. The absolute least expensive place I’ve ever seen for his kind of food. Better than any other take out I’ve ever had. Some dishes are completely authentic, some are Chinese/American hybrid. The money on the wall makes for a cool atmosphere. If you eat here don’t linger around after your done. They really need the space for the next customer. So don’t be offended if they tell you to move along after the meal. Best free tea I ever had at a Chinese place.

*CASHONLY* This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurant in Chinatown that has tremendous character and what you would expect to see out of a movie. It has a dicey feel because of all the dollar bills on the walls and everything looks old. It is located even though it is right off Mott street not to any tourists venture into this place because it doesn’t have a commercial type appeal, but this is the place I take everyone I know here and you know this place is good when you see all the locals eating here. It is a small restaurant with only a few tables but the service is very quick, the food is delicious, and the prices are fair. I usually get the chow fun when I am here the beef and the duck I think are the best. But regardless of what you get here it is all good. The tea here is also the best I have had in Chinatown and has tremendous caffeine in it. And it is right next to the Chinatown ice cream factory so you can get desert right next door mmmmmmm.

After reading about this place in a «Cheap eats» article on TONY, and after passing in front of it endless times, we finally tried 69 Chinese Restaurant for lunch on a Saturday. As we entered the restaurant, a couple of people in the back were preparing dumplings. They looked as delicious as they were HUGE, and we immediately ordered a plate of these steamed beauties. This ended up being the dish we liked the most: I certainly recommend it, not only because these dumplings are very tasty, but also for their sheer, rather unusually large size. The other two dishes were shrimp with lobster sauce over noodles, and snow peas and bean sprouts. Both dishes were ok, but pretty bland and not very flavorful. Overall they were disappointing. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items; a family at the next table was having fried squab, and it looked delicious. At the same time, $ 30 for 3 dishes that include a dumpling dish is not particularly cheap for Chinatown; I feel that for that price range there are much better options out there.
