Came here for a comedy show. The bar is at the top when you walk in and the basement is where the show is held. Yeah, it’s preeeeetty creepy down there but it was an awesome show! After the show, we went up top to have drinks. They light the place up with candles and stuff so it’s pretty chill in there at night time and cozy. There are couches and you can also sit outside if you choose. The only reason I didn’t give this place 5 stars is because the bartender wasn’t really up to speed with that was going on. She was nice though. But anyway, pretty cool lounge :)

Went to a free comedy show here last night. There weren’t many people in the place but given the situation(11 other shows happening at the same time) it was pretty good– especially because it was free. The drinks were reasonably priced and the bartender was very friendly.

Unilocal did me wrong on this one! Came in here one night because they had open seats and it didn’t seem that loud. The music was not too loud but was horrible(U2, Holiday, Boy George, Eye of the Tiger, ect). Mixed drinks were expensive at $ 12 and not very strong or tasty. If you are stopping in here I definitely recommend sticking with bottled beer.

POSITIVES: nooks and crannies to see without being seen, comfy lounge furniture, live music, affordable drinks, personable staff, AND encouraged to bring in outside food = my cheers :) NEGATIVES: lighting is usually excessively dark(can be good or bad depending on your taste) and the comedy club downstairs is basically being in someone’s basement while they practice being funny on stage(the right balance of alcohol and friends can easily make this a positive memory) As long as too many people don’t find out about it, it has a great laid-back vibe — a rarity amidst Village pretentiousness. This is my default hangout.

Great little spot away from the larger crowds of the area. Lots of areas to explore and relax and different sitting arrangements to accommodate large groups or small intimate parties. Even has a cellar area where we caught a live comedy show(for free! and it’s every Saturday night!) I’ve only been here once but I can see myself being a regular very soon. Edit: this may become a 5 star review if they keep up their attentiveness and service

This is a very chill spot to have a drink at and relax. They don’t keep the music pumping all night like alot of other places in the village which makes it a great place for couples and small groups of friends.

For a laid back night(nothing too crazy), this is THEPLACETOBE! I came here on a Sunday night(Labor Day weekend to be exact) with a friend and was simply passing by till I noticed their happy hour special that went on ALLNIGHTLONG. I am not saying no to $ 5 cocktails/sangrias and $ 4 beers along with the free stand up comedy show that was going on. I wasn’t paying much attention to the comedians as I seated myself in the almost secluded area with those big comfy Victorian couches. For something that was happening live, I was able to have a nice long chat with my friend without anyone hearing us(atleast I hope they didn’t). Drinks were strong and the waiter(he may have been the manager or owner), was SUPER attentive. MYMANDIDNOTTRYTOSKIMPONTHEALCOHOLATALL! My friend and I liked the setting so much, we decided to leave and go drag some of our friends over for round 2. Pretty chill spot for those who prefer to stay low key, cannot stand crowds, and enjoy soft music while sitting on a nice comfy couch.

I had a very nice time here. The place is small, but it’s decorated nicely. It’s definitely great for couples, bc it was one of the few places we went to, where my husband and I could actually hear each other. The staff was friendly, and the drinks were strong. Good enough for me :-) Good place if you actually want to talk to the person you’re with…

We might have come on an off night because their soda machine must have been broken(all the drinks we ordered were flat) and our waiter ignored us every time we tried to flag him down(prolonged eye contact be damned). Would not come back here because of the poor service.

I found this bar last year when it first opened and tried to have my bday party here. It didn’t work out but, all good. I came back the other night and this place has found it’s following. This smaller place was pretty packed, it was an open mic night(Wednesday) and my friend and I enjoyed our delicious dark n’ stormy’s(made with what tasted to be fresh ginger) outside. Inside the place has couches with tables and a small bar area. Perfect for an intimate gathering. The bathrooms in the basement are super small and dingy but, other than that this place is a gem. I haven’t sampled the food yet and that really is why I’m not going to give it the full blown 5 stars. But, for a lounge and for drinks this spot definitely nails it. I’ll be back most definitely.

Came here last night with a group of friends. Place wasn’t crowded and the music was low. We sat down in some chairs and people from the bar began rearranging some stools so we could all sit together. While we were ordering from JUSTIN, he started giving us the side eye. After he placed the orders, he came back and said he was going to place everything on one tab. We told him we were separate orders but he said it was easier for him to do it that way. Then we wanted ALL our credit cards«because it’s just easier that way». What? «You know, it’s just good to have in case you guys leave or whatever. It’s happened to me before.» So basically you’re assuming we’re going to skip out on our bill? I know it’s an NYU hood and I know how college kids get down but we were dressed nicely. We did not look like college students. My friend was even wearing a suit and sweater vest but I guess that didn’t matter. Also, there were maybe 7 other people in the bar. Were you afraid you were going to lose us in the«crowd»? Doubt that. So he finally stopped complaining and we got our food and drinks and enjoyed the evening. When it was time to pay the bill, I went up to pay for my drink. I noticed on the bar there was a receipt with big letters that said NOTIP. JUSTIN saw me looking and he said«yea, that’s one of your friends, what’s that about??». I looked at it and I don’t see a name so I said I don’t see a name and I’m not discussing someone else’s bill with you. Then he starts complaining more about it so then I cut him off and ask if I can pay my bill. He then gives me the look of death and snatches my card out of my hand. After he runs my card he says were you just paying for the vodka? I said yes, that’s what I just told you. He said there’s a $ 15 minimum on cards. So now JUSTIN is complaining because I didn’t buy enough. Then my friend comes over and says OK, put her drink and my drink on my card, does that help? JUSTIN says yea, the bill will get paid. Who said you weren’t getting paid? I would have gone to get cash if it was that serious or just paid for the two drinks. Turns out the NOTIP receipt was one of my friends. She got bad service, felt insulted and didn’t feel compelled to reward him for it. I get it… but I used to bartend too so although I normally tip 20%, for someone like JUSTIN, he ends up with 10% or 15%. But unfortunately, that just perpetuated the ignorance. JUSTIN assumed we were«good for nothings who skip out on bills and don’t tip» and he treated us as such. And because we got bad service, one of us didn’t tip and thus confirmed in his mind that we were«good for nothing». It’s an unfortunate cycle. My friend who paid for me tipped 20%. So it’s a nice bar with an easy vibe and decent finger food and drinks. Just stay away from JUSTIN. Especially when he’s on his period.

Very cozy, almost feels like you’re in a good friends living room. Except this good friend charges you to drink their well mixed cocktails and for some reason has their living room set-up in multiple zones. A staircase in the far corner will eventually catch your eye. Go downstairs and immediately feel like you have been transported to the wine cellar of the Italian restaurant that used to occupy this address. Except what could have been a prvate dining room is now a makeshift pair of restrooms, and the cellar area has been outfitted with a table and power cords allowing DJs to plug-in. The comfort of the couches upstairs is starkly contrasted to the low ceilings and concrete of the DJ and dance floor areas. 206 Lounge is an incredibly intimate venue. Come with close friends and you’ll easily have a more private and comfortable conversation upstairs, but keep expectations on the low side, since aesthetically, the entire operation is only a step up from the common frat party.

Nice place to relax and enjoy some cocktails. Came here to see a friend of mine DJ. I really expected a different atmosphere because of where it is but in general the place seemed pretty relax. Unfortunately they suffer from not having a ton of space, but the night I went it wasn’t packed. Drinks were priced pretty fairly at around $ 7 for well drinks and $ 10 — $ 12 for their cocktails. The music was great but I’m biased as i knew he people DJing that night. I will def give the place another go whenever I’m in the area again.

One of my favorite chilled out lounges in my neighborhood! Manager is fantastic. Drinks are strong, albeit a little pricey. Atmosphere is relaxed, good music. Tons of couches and I’ve never seen it packed. Great for a date or a small group of friends!

Came here with my homegirls to get muthafuckin mangled. Done…and done. Very lounge-y vibe, dope tracks pumpin, lots of private parties, lots of Russian peeps, a hot mess on a Saturday night… hot mess. Expensive vodka sodas, but they were hella strong and when you come sportin dope chicks, the affable bartender cuts you a mad deal on the tab. If you can, bring party girls. Jus sayin.

Out in the city with my husband and a few friends. We came across this lounge in the heart of the Village. Very Cool! We felt like we were in Europe sitting in a Mediterranean wine bar. Very comfortable seating with nice leather sofas. Small, cozy and very romantic. Friendly service, great ambiance and drinks made by a mixologist. A perfect place to get away from the craziness of Bleecker Street. When in the city we will be back.

Our meetup group gathers here. It’s small, quaint, and we love it. The happy hour fares are great and it doesn’t seem to be very known, which makes it even more special. We hate tourist crowds.
