Wood Grill Buffet

Went there for the 1^st time today and loved it! Way better selection than Hometown buffet. Definitely will be telling family and friends about this place and will be visiting again soon.

Good quality food. Not your typical cheap buffet food. Love the meat counter. Some of the best chicken strips anywhere.

The food wasent that great. I was hoping that there would be more variety based on what i had payed, unfortunately there wasent. Taste in food was not really good.

Food was very good and the wait was nothing close to Golden Corral. Dessert was also very good if you can make it after eating all the food. Hot wings was a plus and the ribs and steak were my favorite. Definitely a must try and look on their site for coupons.

I love the selection, I’m never disappointed, they have a wide variety of everything from salads to desserts. A little pricey in my opinion but overall it’s worth it.

Better version of HomeTown Buffet. Plenty of parking. Entrance is tight on weekend, the prices is worth & the food is great! Beverages serve by waitress only. Restrooms by far maintained. To whom it may concern but Sunday a.m. cooker has brought me back!

The Wood Grill to me is an excellent alternative to Golden Corral when it comes to avoiding the long lines as well as those looking for a step up from Hometown Buffet. This is among the few buffets with quality food and selection outside of the traditional Las Vegas buffets. The Wood Grill is not as busy as Golden Corral. There are little or not wait times during the week but the weekend is a different story but you’ll be inside eating much faster. Unlike Golden Corral and Hometown Buffet, Wood Grill only serves lunch and dinner. Prices are reasonable and most items, especially the swai fish fillet are delicious and full of taste. The buffalo chicken wings temporarily make you forget about Wing Stop. The rice pudding was tasty along with most of the dessert items. The chinese food items are ok but better than most asian buffets. The Pot Roast is to die for. The chocolate fountain has a unique flow compared to other buffets. Restaurant was clean along with the bathrooms. Service was prompt and courteous. There is plenty of parking in the lot. This Wood Grill is located off Norwalk Bl. And Imperial Hwy. across the street from Norwalk City Hall and the Registrar-Recorder’s office. The infamous traffic on Imperial Hwy can make it a hassle getting in and out due to proximity from the I-​5. Other than that this a great buffet to eat at for those looking for quality over quantity and are tired of weak asian buffets as well as long wait times and lack of parking at Golden Corral in Bellflower.

Good selection of food. But the temperature of the food… blah. Could be a little more hot. The parking lot at night is not lit very well. The staff is friendly and helpful when it comes to drinks and taking away plates.

Everything tastes amazing but i couldn’t redeem the Unilocal free drink because they don’t accept on the weekends.

Not sure what to think of this place. The Food itself was somewhat cold and old… It left like the food had been left out for a few hours and never replaced. I guess they would rather let customer eat it then replaced it… Seems to be there motto, as they indicate that they would charge you for everything that you waste. An FYI, the tongs that are by the burger patties need to be moved somewhere else, they are placed right on the grill which is allowing them to heat up! I grabbed them and they burned my hand.
The staff is awesome! Very friendly.

Entering experience was great. We went on Thanksgiving. We got sat fast. Very nice from host to person who walked us to the table. Food was good. I’d give it an A-​. Some things warm not to hot or taste a little blan. I tried everything literally except the chicken liver which did not look appealing, tacos or hamburger. I did try everything. I scooped from the bottom so the food was hot. It didn’t work on everything like meat leaf or a few things. All cold items were cold like supposed to be. Place was clean and they kept up on cleaning tables. My only complaint is when we were sat not one person checked up on us. We got water but didn’t mean don’t ask us if we want refills. We were never asked how we were or how things were. My husband had to flag someone down to refill our waters. I guess empty glasses at the edge of the table is not an indication that we want more water. I saw 2 workers male Spanish and female asian ask people for refills and how they were. We’re we invisible or what? We weren’t actually being served so I let it go. The gentleman did get the water right away after asked. I think the people from the kitchen were nicer. 4 people in body aprons asked how we were and happy Thanksgiving. They were stacking plates, cleaning up, shutting down or even telling us they will be closing in 10 min all acknowledged us. That was nice. My last thing was I went to the restroom and a worker was there cleaning. She went to the restroom too. I washed my hands and she went continue cleaning. No matter your task you must wash your hands. There are no acceptions. Anywho, we may or may not be back. I would have given a 3 star if I saw the handwashing issue while eating. I was leaving so it didn’t effect my food but still the point. We’ve been here numerous times. Today was not one of our best days here but we’ve had worse at other places. Over all service is C+

Hometown buffet better quality food… I read a comment from someone saying here is better than hometown buffet… I don’t think so!
Don’t provide coupon if you don’t honor it! It does need t say any where that it is only for weekdays.
I would not recommend this place unless you have young kids eating with you because they do have choices for kids.

Best buffet in the area. A $ 15 lunch buffet for the price of $ 10.99. Meats are juicy, restaurant is clean with a large variety of food. Can’t go wrong! Particularly enjoyed the fondue pot at the end.

This is by far the very best reasonably priced all american buffet I have ever been to. I can’t wait to go back. $ 14 got me lunch including a beverage. The Cornbread, The spaghetti and meatballs, Manicoti, salads and more!!!
Amazing First Experience today 11/​19/​2015

Food is good. Lots of selections on Salad, Dressing, Fruit, Meats, Sides, desserts and extras. Service was SLOW very SLOW .
Our drinks took to long and the refill we had to go look for our waiter to get our refills .
Not sure if we will be coming back.

This was our first visit at Wood Grill Buffet. Its FAR, FAR better than Hometown Buffet. Its a nice restaurant, and the buffet is clean, and nice looking. Attractive, makes you hungry. We went for dinner, and it was like $ 13.00 a person, which to me, is good for the quality of this buffet. Its an American buffet, so its all comfort food. Yummy! Pot Roast, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Shrimp, Fish, Chicken filets… etc. Tons of food choices.
The people that worked there seemed genuinely happy. Not like they were stuck at a miserable job that they hate. Everyone smiled, and treated us well. The restaurant was CLEAN. We really liked it, and will be back.
If you live in the area, go try Wood Grill. Its awesome!!! If you like Hometown Buffet, DEFINATELY go try Wood Grill. You will love it!!!

One of the better, but more expensive buffet restaurants, definitely worth going to once. A nice selection of food, some of which you don’t see anywhere else (chocolate fountain?) Sadly, on this occasion, the melon tasted like it had been wrapped in old socks and left to ferment.
Other than the melon, my previous visits were good and tasty, and the melon was an exception on this particular visit.
Would recommend. Friendly and polite staff.

A lot of food selection, i Like their Pastas! also the Dessert’s! all is good, were just waiting for them to open since we came there at 10:30am but its worth to wait! Haha. Me and hubby will be surely back there, i shall return

Not sure why people complain about the price. $ 12.99 is a good deal considering everything you can get. For the price the quality is good. Now if this were a buffet where they charged $ 24.99 I would expect a little more. For $ 12.99 you get prime rib, ham, roast beef, fried shrimp, multiple pastas, tacos, burgers, salads, deserts, etc… It’s worth the cost. Would definitely repeat but only when I haven’t eaten all day. Be careful, can get really full.

So, one day, my wife and I were lost trying to find the Citadel Outlets, so we decided to find a store in Lakewood. On our way, I saw a buffet on the map, so I convinced her to pull off the freeway so that we could check it out.
This place looks a little un-​kept from the outside. They could definitely use a paint job or two. But, parking was easy. We walk into the buffet. There was no line. The hostess at the register was blah-​zay. She asked how many and if we wanted a drink and took our payment and then through the receipt into a bucket lol. Then a young kid walked out, took our receipt out of the bucket, as if their were a lot of us (just two) and took us to our seats. This was a Saturday night and the place was half full, which concerned me at first. It was also odd to me that we were seated rather than self seating. It was in no way crowded, but okay.
So, we sat down and it was time to go the buffet. I saw so much food: soul food, BBQ, Italian food, Mexican flare, etc. The mac and cheese was not good at all. It felt stove-​top and instant. The meatballs were bland. Even though those two items threw me off, the rest of the buffet was really good.
They had all kinds of different chicken wings, which were SOOOO meaty and delicious. The baked zit and lasagna was really good. The chicken Alfredo was not good. The fried chicken was great as well as the pot roast. They had all kind of other foods that I did not try like greens, green beans, lots of different types of potato dishes, grilled burgers and dogs, a full salad bar and dessert bar.
The BBQ chicken was good, but not really BBQ. The carving station was okay. The ham was like a processed ham in a ribbon, so it tasted weird to me. The desserts were really dry, but they do have real ice cream (not frozen milk). I thought it was tacky that the dessert bar had paper plates, plastic spoons and disposable bowls for ice cream. It was odd.
I went again on a Sunday after church. Now, I’m black and you all know us black folks love us some buffet after church Sunday. Try going to Golden Chorale on a Sunday — you are going to wait in line for hours just to get inside to wait in lines so more. But, this Sunday, there was no line and we were seated really quickly. I thought this was odd because the food is decent and it is seasoned for the most part.
Anyway, i will be back.
I would have given a 4^th star, but, the beverage service is terrible. The drinks are served by your waitress instead of having public fountains. The refills were super slow. I don’t understand why this place has so much staff. They could save a lot of money by having a beverage station and self seating. It just seems like a waste of resources. Anyway, this place is decent and I would recommend it. I went with my wife the first time and the second time I took my fam and they enjoyed it. The buffet also had shrimp, fish, pizza, stuff for kids, spaghetti, etc. The variety is good and they kept the buffet overfilled, which was great. There was never an empty tray, which was great!

No sabía que existía este bufete la verdad es excelente mucho mejor que hometown bufete o cualquier otro bufete y hemos visitado varios pero este es el mejor la variedad de comida es excelente con buena calidad mucha proteína, vegetales buena variedad en postres el servicio excelente nos trataron de lo mejor desde que pagamos hasta las bebidas nos atendió un buen mesero, el lugar muy limpio esperamos poder ir más seguido, lo vamos a recomendar a nuestra familia y amigos todo muy bueno tienen un rating de excelencia (la letra A)
