Great food, hard working(though few) employees and great portion size! Love their pork dumplings soup and the kimchi was delightful! Their pajeons are delicious as well but do take a while to make as usual.

Whenever I am feeling a bit under the weather I come here. This little mom and pop specializes in only a few korean dishes. The two that you definitely want to come here for are the seolleongtang and the gamjatang. Their gamjatang is good but I prefer their seolleongtang for whenever I am not well. This hearty beef soup is just the thing to comfort a sensitive stomach and to sooth a sore throat. Theirs is the best in the area no question about that. I defy anyone to find one better. It’s a very seemingly simple broth with complex flavors with simple ingredients: small slices of meat and glass noodles. I prefer the brisket but you can also choose tripe or some other beef tendon. It comes with a side of rice and and kimchi and at the table is all the garnishes you want. There’s some green onion, salt and pepper. Oh now regarding the kimchi. Theirs is probably the best I have ever had that came from a restaurant.

This is a hidden mom and pop hidden in a dated, nondescript shopping plaza. This area of town stands at sharp contrast to the neighboring Cerritos area(older area), but there are some great finds if you know where to go. My folks came by the Pioneer Spa and discovered this place. We come here for the Korean wontons/mandu, some specialty dishes that seasonally change, and of course — the sullungtang. It’s like Korean Phở… beef bone soup with glass noodles and chunks of meat. It’s something that a true Korean will crave time to time as comfort food. There’s really only two women running the show. one out front delivering and taking orders and one in the back dishing out the food. You can opt for different meats. but I usually just take the plain jane approach with meat and not guts. The best part about this place is this ridiculously good kimchi. I could probably eat a whole container full while there. You miss this shit when you’re homesick. Definitely a hidden gem and a tasty find. It’s more homestyle. so nothing fancy about this place. Still something that I will come back to when in the area. Not the best. but it does it’s job.

OMG!!! If you’re wondering if you should try this place for authentic Korean Sul-lung-tang(beef bone soup), just come here… seriously! I’ve grown up on this stuff and it’s pretty legit. Theres even Korean people in the kitchen cooking the stuff and then serving it to you! Even saw an old Korean man reading the newspaper inside while he was eating(thought it was my Dad and freaked out haha). You don’t get a ton of meat because the broth is what its all about. And when you’re sick(like I was) I mainly cared about the soup. The combination soup(brisket, tripe, tendon, etc.) with two kinds of HOMEMADE kimchee is only $ 6!!! Fat, steamed kimchee mandu(dumplings, you get about 8 – 10) only about $ 7. With those prices and portions you should leave a fat tip. And if anyone if squirmy about organ meat, just suck it up and try this stuff… it’s delicious… tender and yummy… seriously just get over it ;p Nothing is more annoying than customers who know what they’re getting when they order and STILL complain!(Can you tell I used to work in the industry? ;D) The place isn’t fancy, it’s pretty sparsely decorated but who the hell cares? The owner/cashier/server lady is really nice and adorable. Haven’t tried the other menu items yet but i’m exited to go back. I rarely go to the same places twice cause I love exploring new restaurants but this place is definitely a repeat one!

Came here on a Sunday & it was pretty crowded. I tried to order 3 different items on the menu, and the waitress literally told me I couldn’t get what I wanted because they were busy. She basically only offered me the soups that were ready and wouldn’t let me order anything that required them to cook something new. Wtf.

I don’t recommend, really. Came by one morning for some Haejangguk(chase away a hang-over soup) and was highly disappointed. Food– Not good at all. Instead of soothing my stomach after a long night of drinking … I think I got an even bigger head ache from all the MSG or MSG– like flavored soup. My husband got the Sul-long tang and he wasn’t impressed either. It was watered down and the broth wasn’t as milky as it should be. Interior– Doesn’t look very clean. The tables had a sticky film. They put an old portable fan on top of one of the tables to help cool the air. There were also stacks of old news papers in clear view. Very appetizing yes? Not!

I’m not Korean, so may be this is not the place for me. I had the soup, I added the salt, the green onions and the kimchi and still didn’t taste right. Again, it wasn’t bad, but not as tasty as other Korean soups I had. I liked that I paid only $ 7 :-)

I don’t post much on Unilocal,I mostly read the reviews when determining where to eat, but this restaurant is AMAZING! Traditional Korean food at it’s best. If you’re looking for Korean BBQ or bibimbap, this may not be your option. BUT if you are looking for home-made Korean soups, stews, and broths, this is the place to be! And all at good prices! Also, the kimchi and ggakddogi are amazing! And the mandu is all home-made too, none of the store-bought kinds! A must-try when in the area!

Hit the spot, hot beef bone soup — aka«Sul-Lung-Tang». A lot of places call this«Stamina soup». Made by boiling beef bones for days(okay, not sure how long but a very long time). They serve it up in a hot, your choice of meats in a clay pot and you add chopped green onions, salt and if you’re like me some kim chi juices :) Every Korean knows this soup it’s as popular as menudo for the Mexicans, Matzah ball for the Jews and chicken noodle for American’s(although Koreans have their own chicken noodle soup ) Chow down with a bowl of rice and 2 kinds of kimchi and your soul feels nurtured and your stomach is warm and full. They have a 2 soups for $ 10 Special but not sure if they’re still running this?

It was a little hard to find the place initially, but they serve quality sulungtang at a surprisingly low price. They serve two types of kimchi in pots, so patrons are supposed to take kimchi from the pots to thier own small plates; however, I saw some patrons enoying kimchi right out of the pots using their own spoons. Yikes! Hope servers did not recycle that kimchi to serve others…

Great sulung tang. Great prices!!! $ 5.99??? I have no idea how they can afford it. I mean the kim-chi is made fresh here! That alone is worth another $ 2 at least! Great friendly service. Great place. Great food! A little slow but that’s because I think they really take the time to make it right. The place is very clean as well which is huge.

I still prefer Jangmo Jip out of all the Sulungtang places in town. But this place comes close. It’s my second favorite Sulungtang place in town. After trying some of the other tasteless Sulungtang places in town, I was hesitant about trying any other joints. I had made up my mind to stick with Jangmo Jip. I’ve heard good things about this place from my neighbors that have eaten here, but I was still iffy. One day, I was craving Sulungtang and didn’t feel like making the drive to Jangmo Jip. Huh Daegam is down the street from me whereas Jangmo Jip is a wee bit further. So I took a chance and came here. I was pleasantly surprised. The Sulungtang was actually good! The broth had a good flavor to it. I just hate it when Sulungtang tastes so watery and bland, or doesn’t have that clean taste. The broth is made with bones and sometimes, it’s ruined by that rancid boney flavor overpowering it… making it taste unclean. I really like the ggakduki(radish kimchi) here. They even sell it by the jar. I’ve been tempted to buy a jar, but haven’t yet. The only thing I wish they’d do is slice the beef thinner(like they do at Jangmo Jip). I’ve only been here during the daytime. And it seems like it’s run by a husband and wife team. The wife works the front and husband in the kitchen. The food is made by a Korean, with a Korean palate. This is kind of rare to see since most kitchens of Korean restaurants are run by Latinos. At Jangmo Jip, their cooks are mostly the hardworking Latinos, whose palates have been trained to cook food suitable to the tastes of Koreans. And they do a good job of it. So it was kind of somewhat refreshing to see Koreans cooking Korean food.

One of the best places for SLT(sulungtang) in the area. the other being Jang Mo Jip in LP. I love how they bring out the kimchee./gaktookee in the little jar and then let you cut it up. The places is very clean and quick. It is better than JMJ(Jang Mo Jip) in LP and way better JJSLT in Cerritos. They do it right.

Very traditional Korean place inside a strip mall, next to a giant Korean spa. I’ve been there only twice. Never tried their Sulungtang. Instead I had the white soy sauce noodle and it was great. I’ll probably try their mud fish next time.

Pros: The place is clean. Cons: The Sulungtang is just plain BAD. The meat quality is inconsistent. I ordered the plain Sulungtang with glass noodles and brisket. The brisket was tough as rubber tire and the glass noodle was just low grade. The soup base was just nasty and the kimchi banchan was GROSS. Recommendation: Go to Jang Mo in La Palma instead. Jang Mo blows this place out of the water. Try it! you will not regret it.

Yum! Loveeeeee Sullungtang!!! It’s a soothing Korean soup which is great to eat when you’re hungover, not feeling so great, or just want something warm and toasty. The ladies that work here are super cute and Korean. Great service, simple restaurant, simple menu, and great food. The last time I came to this restaurant we ordered gamjatang(pork stew with potatoes which actually translates to potato stew) and sulungtang. It totally hit the spot. Add some rock salt and green onion to the sulungtang and eat with some kimchee that is at the table. Delish. Solid, simple, soothing meal. :)

Good soup. Another one of my simple, fast, go to mom and pop hole in the wall location. On a cold rainy day, nothing beats a bowl of this soup.

See the photos I’ve uploaded to see the menu, food, and entrance within the plaza. The menu/placemat is in Korean and English. There are also photos of most of their menu items placed on the walls. The interior is small and can fit maybe about 20 people. If you’re not familiar with Korean food, here are instructions for what to do while you are waiting for your food: 1. There are 2 pots of kimchi(fermented vegetables), scissors, tongs, and a flat plate. 2. Use the tongs to grab as much kimchi from the pots and place it on the plate. 3. Use the scissors to cut them into convenient pieces. 4. You can always ask for more kimchi as it’s unlimited. Instructions for if you’re ordering sullungtang(Hot Beef Stamina Soup), which is their specialty: 1. Taste the broth to gauge how much salt you will require. 2. Ladle the salt into your soup to taste. 3. Ladle the chopped spring onions into your soup. 4. Eat. Went in with 3 girlfriends and ordered 3 types of sullungtang(Hot Beef Stamina Soup) and kamjatang(Spicy Pork Rib Soup). The English names for sullungtang sounds fittingly exciting but sounds exciting in the wrong way. 5 stars for the following: 1. Sullungtang(Hot Beef Stamina Soup) 2. Kamjatang(Spicy Pork Rib Soup) 3. The fact that the 2 types of kimchi were served in quaint pots, came with a dish to put them in, and the scissors with which to cut them. 4. The fact that the chopped spring onions were mighty plentiful and came in quaint pots. 5. Friendly service. If possible, I’d give 6 stars for the kamjatang(Spicy Pork RIb Soup). The spices and flavors are so complex and at times reminded me of flavors from other countries. It was fantastic! The only things is, and I thought I would never say this, there was too much meat. It was too much to eat for 1 person. It might have been doable if 2 or 3 people shared it. They even have Haejangkook(Hangover soup) for if your night was exciting in other ways.
