I signed up for a $ 69.00 tanning package prior to a recent vacation. On vacation, I learned that a friend of mine signed up at almost the exact time and the girl at the counter gave her a month free, in addition to the paid month @ $ 69.00. Both of us had been to this business before; neither was a new customer. While we were on our vacation, our college daughter came home for«spring break» and wanted to tan a couple of times. She went to the Tanning Club and was told it would be cheaper to sign up for a month long package; even though she was only able to tan a few times. By mistake, she used my credit card which I had given her for gas. She phoned me and I told her that was fine, but the Tanning Club never noticed or questioned it. Upon returning from our trip, I went in and asked for the same package my friend had received; two months for one. The girl at the desk said she couldn’t do it and couldn’t explain why it happened. She wanted to know the name of my friend and said she would cancel her second month. Really? Take away a month you’ve promised another customer? Not good business. I then asked if I could use a couple days between upcoming trips on the membership they had oversold my daughter for(which was on my credit card) and again, she said she couldn’t do that. She asked me if I wanted to make a police report regarding the usage of my credit card. Again; seriously? I told her that wouldn’t be necessary, as I was aware my daughter had used the card in error even if they weren’t. I never referred to the card as stolen and that was an ignorant and defensive suggestion on her part. The real problem was not my daughter using the card, but the fact that they oversold her a package she couldn’t use. Oh… and they also told my daughter I bought $ 50.00 tanning lotion which I had not and had told them she may come in and she should buy the lotion, as well(I did not!). What a bunch of crap(pardon my French)! I’d like to see the receipt showing that lotion purchase. Never happened. Another, dishonest, over-sell attempt. So, in the end, my friend paid for one month and got two and I paid for two months and got one. A business must be consistent. You can’t make special considerations for one customer and then not do the same for the next. There are either«special offers,» or there are not. I asked for the manager and was told«Ed» was not around. I was told they had neither a card nor a phone number for Ed and they also didn’t know when Ed would be back to the location. While I was there, the receptionist supposedly phoned Ed, but I was not allowed to speak to him. The elusive«Ed» should be more present and involved in his day to day business and will, hopefully, train his employees on customer service. As far as the tanning goes; the beds were standard and the service was fine except for one morning when no one was there at the 10:00 opening time. I and another woman waited outside for the employee to arrive. There are plenty of tanning salons around. I would recommend going elsewhere if you want honesty and the best deal. You won’t get it here; or maybe you will? Depends on who you are and who you talk to. Call me, Ed. You have my number on file.

Today was the first time I went to this place and it was great. It is a really nice place in Northville. The bed I used must have been new — it has a part on it that bubbles up for leg support. The salon itself has water, wet wipes, eye protection and of course towels in every room. The music over head is loud enough so you can hear it in the bed which I like. This is a great salon — not to mention I got my first month free since I was a new client.
