Is the same old reheated food as the previous LA Buffet, nothing has change is just more expensive. the food was cold nothing tasted fresh even the fruits were old

The food is better than it used to be. I still don’t like how the sushi sits out for a long period of time. Service inside is better depending on how busy they are. Where they have the food set up, is still very cramped. They need to have more space for people to move around.

This place is much better than the one this replaced. A larger variety of food and a fresher atmosphere. They have a salad bar, sushi bar, Various hot foods and all your Asian essentials. This is definitely one of the better buffets in la. The service is pretty slow but I’m sure the food makes up for it. It’s kid friendly and has foods to meet their need as in pizza, nuggets, etc. For it’s price, it’s fair.

Come on people it’s only $ 10 for lunch. If you have a coupon it’s cheaper than Panda Express. I don’t understand people expecting a buffet like Baccanal in Vegas for a fraction of the cost. I was pleasantly surprised how good the buffet was. Did I mention it’s only $ 10? I’m a sucker for fried bananas so good job Tropical Buffet. Their seafood section is not that fresh but seriously how can you complain with paying $ 10-$ 16? Café Sierra charges $ 50-$ 60 for their seafood buffet. I will definitely be back… a lot.

I had seen the restaurant recently opened and decided to give it a try. Buffet AND grill sounds promising. While the selection is varied, with sushi; Chinese food, including plenty of seafood dishes; salads and fixings; desserts; and a Mongolian Grill, it just didn’t measure up. The food was average and nothing I tried was anywhere near outstanding. The service was adequate and the prices were very reasonable, but it left me craving just one exceptional sushi hand roll, and I definitely wasn’t going to find it here.

I used to LOVE this place when it was LA Buffet. Was anxiously awaiting the grand reopening and finally had time to stop in here for a bite to eat BIG disappointment. The sushi is rubbery, a lot of my favorites are gone, the staff is cold and unhelpful. Won’t be returning!!!

This is a yummy, clean and well staffed buffet. With kids that have varying tastes this leaves everyone happy. Food is constantly replenished which is nice not to have to wait for your favorite dish.

Ok so had to go and eat for myself to see how they improved and well the Chinese food was the only thing that was good… so if you think by them adding nice tile and a coat of paint made the food better your wrong the sushi was old and half hard. «Fresh my ass» and then the I had a coupon that they would not use due to it was not printed when the coupon was a qr code… they said they don’t have anything to scan with so over all don’t waste your time …

Most of the food was not fresh. Except for the beef soup, which was really good, and the beef dishes, the food was overly dry and too fishy. The décor was nice and the staff was attentive, but that’s about it.

Remember«A Christmas Story»? Remember when the dogs ruined Christmas dinner by knocking the turkey over? Remember when Ralphy and his family had«Chinese Turkey» at the Chinese restaurant? Yep… Tropical Buffet and Grill was my Christmas(brunch actually) with my family and my in-laws. Fa-ra-ra-ra-raaa, ra-ra-ra-raaaah! Apparently this used to be an LA City Buffet, but closed, remodeled and under new management, trying to get the word out. My in-laws tried this place beforehand and said it was good, so that’s how we decided to come here for Xmas Day(because, who wants to slave cooking for Xmas?!). No special pricing for the holidays, same old $ 16.99 per adult. There’s sushi, mongolian grill, salad bar, various hot foods and a dessert section. There’s also some dim sum items and various soups to choose from. For the kiddos, you’re going to see kid fare like pizza and chicken nuggets. Let me tell you about the nuggets… Are you familiar with McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets? The taste and such? Well, the chicken nuggets served here tastes the same(or very close) to McDonald’s nuggets! All that’s missing is the BBQ sauce and french fries, lol! I know you don’t go to an Asian Buffet for salads, but they had a tasty salad with some sort of orange/citrus dressing that I got 2 plate fulls of. The food was hot, and looks prepared fresh. Nothing seemed disgusting and no one got sick. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves. I’d recommend this place. Don’t have too high of expectations, this isn’t a Vegas-grade buffet. Just a normal Asian Buffet that’s decent.

This place has been open for one month and now i know why they have low ratings. The food is disgusting and cold and we will never come back to this place ever again. They told us they changed owners and they also told us that the food is the same from the previous buffet. Thats why the other buffet closed down because of how nasty it was. Paying $ 16.99 a person for cold and disgusting food is down right an outrage. This place will not last open very long. Stay far away from this place, trust me it’s not worth it. Don’t waste your money here!!!

Pretty decent for the price. Has most Asian essentials — crab legs, sushi, squid /calamari, mongolian bbq and the typical hot plate items at panda express for you less adventurous ones. Pretty clean and service was quick to get drinks and remove plates. My husband said they had pretty good flan and cupcakes.

I am giving this 4 stars because it is Christmas week From what I have heard, Angela S, is probably spot on in her assessment of the place I was told by a very reliable source that the food dishes are kept at a low level and it takes them time to refill. The selection is sushi is also very limited. I believe they still have the 10% discount and may give it a try My gut is to pay more for better quality food and a wider selection. Right now I am thinking that Sumo in woodland hills is better and Golden Hibachi grill is better in the SGV Have a merry Christmas I actually went today 12⁄30 and it was good for the price. My guest commented that today was much better than when she went a few weeks back Good job here. I will return

The best way I can explain this place is a one stop shop … meaning you try and don’t bother coming back. I found the food nothing but average and nothing memorable, having eaten at this place before the once called«LA buffet » it seems to me that this establishment just needs to stop being cheap and serve good quality food. Instead of the what can I get away with budget money. Anyways thanks for reading and sorry tropical buffet for this 1 star buffet

Affordable prices, definitely. Small food selection. Extremely small dessert selection. Hot crab legs are pretty amazing. And surprisingly, the baked mussels were outstanding. Sushi is incredibly bland. In the rolls, they used what appeared to be canned tuna? The texture and the flavor pointed to that, at least. Sashimi was also bland. Disappointing. Their soft served ice cream or froyo was amazing which was odd. Great flavor and texture. Our waiter gave us an unexpected 10% off which was nice! I don’t think I will return unless I’m in the area.

This place used to be LA buffet but it closed and was remodeled to this Tropical Buffet. This new place is much better, remodeled, new food, new staff, new everything including the tables, chairs and bathrooms! I would like to 5 star this place but so far I am not wow about it. The food was good and crab legs were fairly fresh, but the service is still that typical Chinese buffet staff — doesn’t want anything to do with the customers. Still they aren’t bad, just not super friendly. Looking forward to coming here again.

While an improvement over L.A. Buffet which was the previous buffet here, I didn’t find it to be that different from the other Asian buffets in the valley. The restaurant is remodeled and very clean. The sushi and sashimi are good, but it would be nice if they had signs to indentify what type of fish they are serving. The hot foods were also good but nothing different than other places. The new teppanyaki grill includes more choices than the previous Mongolian grill, but the tacky sign limiting 2 pieces of steak per person is a bit of a turn off when you see how tiny the slices are. Desserts were nothing special. The staff is friendly and attentive.

Been here twice now. It used to be LA Buffet but they said now its under new management which is good. They remodeled the whole place and food is better. Lots more options than before. Definitely worth a try.

While driving by, I saw that it was open for budin, so I tried it. I was not disappointed with the new look and dining rooms. I was however surprised that the food was 90% similar yo the L.A. Buffet cooking style and menu. There is a different sushi bar and Mongolian experirnce. There are also more hot and cold dishes to appeal to most people. It tasted good. It was clean and easy to manuver. It is worth a visit if you really enjoyed la buffet.
