Good selection of bonsai trees. The staff are very knowledgeable about the different trees and their care. The classes are really fun!

Kimura Bonsai Nursery is one of the best bonsai nurseries in southern California. On my first visit, I was greeted by Jorge. He was very helpful & informative. He showed me around & then gave me time to look around for the right specimen I was looking for. I ended up buying a Trident Maple & Chinese Elm. On my second visit, Jorge greeted me once again & he remembered me from my previous visit. I spent long time admiring the beautiful bonsai they have. I also bought a American Liquid Amber & Pomegranate. I wanted to buy more specimens since they all look nice, but I have to wait till my next visit. They have a nice selection of specimens. The prices are reasonable. Pre bonsai stock start off about $ 10.00. Where other nurseries try to charge $ 30.00 for a 2 year old pre bonsai stock. I recommend Kimura Bonsai Nursery to anyone who likes bonsai. If you live far, the drive is well worth it… Kimura Bonsai makes you feel welcomed…

I found this place after starting to dabble in Bonsai. They offer classes every other Sunday and I’ve learned a lot.

Bob is the greatest. I’ve been coming here for over a decade and there’s no place like it anywhere in the Valley. If you are a fan of bonsai, or of Japanese gardens, then you will feel right at home at Kimura. I started learning about the art of bonsai in 2002 when I took Bob’s class. He is a great teacher, and you’ll learn a lot from him. I now attend the clinics when I can and I always learn something new. The nursery has a great selection of stock, or if you aren’t inclined to «do it yourself» then there is a wonderful selection of ready-to-go bonsai available for purchase. The prices are very reasonable, note that Kimura only sells QUALITY tools and pots, you may be able to find equipment cheaper elsewhere, however you’ll spend more in the long-run replacing it. DON’T buy a pot anywhere else without first talking to Bob about it. There are a lot of cheap«bonsai» pots out there that aren’t fit for putting a tree in, and you’ll really be wasting money and time if you end up killing your tree with a cheap pot. This isn’t just a nursery, it’s a community of folks who love the art of bonsai. I can’t recommend anyplace more highly than this!

Like any new undertaking, intimidation was a part of learning the art of bonsai until I visited Kimura. The owner was very nice and answered all my questions. There was no hard sell; they encourage you to take your time and ask questions when you are ready. They have gorgeous complete bonsai ready to display and for the hobbyist there are plenty of trees in growing pots for you to repot and train yourself. Classes are offered to teach you all you need to know and all tools and supplies needed are there. This was a wonderful experience and I will always give them my business.

If you like Japanese style gardens or are a fan of Bonsai trees than this is the BEST place in the Valley. I had visited the Nursery multiple times without making a purchase gathering information and the owner(Bob) as well as his staff were very friendly and spent time discussing what I wanted to do with my project. They even offer classes to help teach you how to care and grow your Bonsai trees. I was referred to visit here by another local nursery who said the staff and owner were well respected — and I can attest they deserve it! Thanks Kimura Bonsai Nursery — I will definitely be back again!!!
